The Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals

We rescued a senior dog from a home where she was neglected and was about to be dumped somewhere. While we are able to care for the dog, we were not able to find an affordable boarding situation for the dog when we are not in town. We thought we’d have to give this dog up to a new home. After contacting many organization, FCIA was the only resource to even respond and offer help. It was amazing and we felt that our prayers were answered. We used to support ASPCA and Best Friends but now we are going to switch all our possible donations to help this organization. Really great, kind people who care so much about the animals that really need help. They are also listed on amazon smile so that is also a great way to support them.

I found a dying cat, hardly responsive, on a street corner. I took him in and started to help him. I have my own pets and was in mp position to adopt a new one. After his condition worsened I contacted FCIA. They refered me to a vet in my area and covered his emergency treatment that included 3 enemas. He has been microchipped and turned out to be over 17. Thanks to them he is alive and doing better. It was also interesting to trace his original owner who died in 2003. At his age and condition, this cat was given a second chance. I will keep him. Last night my cat had to have emergency surgery to save his life. He is only 5 years old and I could not find a Vet or hospital willing to work out a payment plan without $ 700 down. I was only able to borrow $ 500 from friends and family. I was actually told by one of the Vet Centers that they would not work with us on the price but would be willing to euthanize this young, usually healthy, sweet kitty. FCIA came through with a pledge of $ 200 donation to save my cats life. If you are looking to donate money. Send it here. San Diego is almost impossible to get help for indigent animals! All of these other places that claim to help and care either did not respond or turned us down flat. Thank you to FCIA for saving my cats life! I can’t wait to be on my feet again and give back.
