History
Established in 1975.
We are a 4th generation family run farm. The name Sheeder comes from the family who originally built the old stone barn and dwellings that are located on and around our families farm. Our family has always been local to Chester County but it wasn’t until the 1930’s that the Wade’s purchased the farm from the Sheeder’s at auction. We breed, raise and train 97% of our stock. We have horses that are suitable for every level rider. Horses have always been a passion that runs deep in our family.
Meet the Business Owner
Dori W.
Business Owner
Dori grew up learning how to ride on her father’s Standardbred, Miranda Hanover, at the age of 4. One of her sisters took to teaching her some basics at a young age. At the age of 9, she began fox hunting on her brother’s horse with the Hoffecker’s Ridge Hunt. This is where she learned to jump. She later joined Northern Chester County 4-H horse and pony club, run by Wilda Fulmer. This is were she refined her riding skills and began showing horses. After 3 years of competing at 4-H shows she began instructing beginner level riders.
Dori has been instructing children and adults since the age of 13. She also began training horses at the age of 13. She started the trail riding business at Sheeder Mill in 1975, the year she bought the farm from her father. You can find Dori at Sheeder Mill teaching students, riding on the trails or training horses. Dori enjoys showing our young stock, riding on challenge rides and sharing her wealth of knowledge and love of horses with others!
