Red Lion River Inn

Hotel staff was awesome and very friendly, courteous and professional! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the amenities were a nice touch, though I didn’t get a chance to use any of them. Easy walking distance to the bridge to downtown and super accessible freeway access. Great Price, Great Service, Great Location, would definitely stay again!

Over the last 2+ months, we have had to be in Spokane every 2 weeks or more. We have opted to stay at The Red Lion River Inn and have been very happy with our decision. Excellent staff, housekeeping, and kitchen personnel. We have wanted for nothing. We like the buffet breakfast being included in the room rate. We can’t say enough about the good food we’ve had at the restaurant. And we have appreciated the use of the computer in the lobby. Well done, Red Lion!

Seriously needs updating. They seem to know it; they’re remodeling the lobby. Room is a nice size, but… sheers are sun-​rotted, the mattress is too soft, radio is analog and unusable, climate control is crude. Lots of facilities as noted – 2 pools, courts…

This a pretty standard hotel of its type, offering a clean, fairly no frills stay. Things that I liked were that my room had a fridge and microwave, they offered a complimentary shuttle ride to/​from the airport, and there were power outlets and light controls you could reach from the bed. Things that I didn’t like included the buffet breakfast (approx. $ 11), the too soft bed, and lack of an elevator. The breakfast buffet had many choices, but the scrambled eggs were over cooked and had the consistency of foam rubber. The sausages were ok, but the major taste of the bacon was salt. The fresh fruit was good, though. What really drove the 2 star rating was that I absolutely hated dragging my luggage up and down the stairs. The friendliness of the hotel staff was not enough to offset that pain.

Restaurant– breakfast was terrible. Go to Madeleine’s backers on main st. You have walk from the hotel.

Booked our room last minute, great price for a nice room. Ask about AAA discount or senior discount. The rooms were very clean, with 2 nice outdoor pools. The hotel offers quite rooms, plenty of towels great shower.
The breakfast buffet for $ 10.95 (kids eat free, find out age limit) in the adjoining restaurant was excellent with plenty of fresh fruit, sausage, bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, hot or cold cereal and bagels ect. Juice and coffee.
I wish all hotels in this price range were as nice.

Spokane is a neat city, but we were disappointed with the hotel and learned a good lesson.
When we checked the room had smell. We chalked it up to stale air but the smell didn’t go away. Realizing it was pet friendly we determined that a dog pooped in the room before us. It was cleaned up but the carpet wasn’t cleaned. The hotel moved upon request.
How housekeeping couldn’t smell the problem I’ll never know. The Hotel promised to follow up. 3 weeks lager, No response.

Clean and comfortable — especially for a night.
We were just passing through Spokane on a road trip and found the Red Lion to hang our hats. The hotel is right on the river, which is nice. The walls are a little thin, which is not so nice, but we didn’t mind.
They have a large number of rooms and plenty of parking. The location has several buildings (keep your stuff in the car prior to check-​in). It’s definitely not luxury, but it certainly is safe and clean (especially for less than $ 100/​night!).
We also enjoyed their selection of toiletry products.

We snagged a deal on Priceline to get this place and we definitely got more than we payed for. The front desk was very nice upon check in. We did not use any amenities but the room was nice and clean. The bed was great, I didn’t wake up once. They also provided a nice brand of shampoo, conditioner, lotion. I took it with me! I would recommend this place to others.

A great hotel in a great location right on the river and convenient to everything downtown. And they are a great host to spokanes best running club, The Flying Irish.

Second attempt at staying here, I was sent on a wild goose chase for the laundry room which didn’t open with my key card when I finally found it after calling the desk for the hidden directions. No apologies for the difficulties.
On my First stay they didn’t manage to get my keys to my room working on the first try (really? Check in is hard) and expected me to hoof it back down to the desk (no small walk) when they screwed up. Was I supposed to drag all my luggage? No apologies and no real service.

I was surprised to see some of the lower ratings here. Perhaps the expectations are a bit unreasonable for what you pay for the rooms. We had two rooms for three nights for just under $ 700 including taxes (we were part of the NCUR conference). That’s $ 103 per room per night before taxes. The rooms were large, with king beds, large television, lounge chair, desk with chair, closet with full-​length mirror, two nightstands, and a pretty big sized tub in the bathroom. The décor was a bit outdated, but clean. The mattress was not the most comfortable I’ve slept in, but it wasn’t bad. There are two swimming pools and a volleyball court outside, plus a not-​terrible fitness room inside. Also, the bath products (shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, and lotion) were all fantastic, from a local company, made with mostly organic ingredients and didn’t smell like chemicals. There’s also a computer with printer for public use, and I easily printed out my airline boarding passes there.
Oh and almost forgot– the televisions get a LOT of channels, including three different HBO channels, TCM, AMC, and more. While there, I watched several good movies: «Up in the Air», «The Matrix», «The Others», «12 Years a Slave», and best of all «Going Clear» (the documentary about Scientology). It was nice to not have to just choose from complete crap on the tv.
I never ate at the restaurant there, except for the continental breakfast, so I can’t comment on room service or the lunch or dinner menu. The breakfast ($ 11/​person) was not great, but honestly not bad for the price. All you can eat eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, dry cereal, yogurt, many kinds of fruit, bagels, and pastries. There were several juice choices, bottomless coffee, and tea. And the staff was very friendly.
The front desk staff was also friendly and helpful. They were great with suggestions for restaurants and in giving directions to local sites. I needed some bandaids and the girl behind the desk gave me a handful of them.
The only reason I’m taking off one star is because the place is not sound-​proofed whatsoever. There was a conference in town and a lot of college kids staying there while I was there, and they were running up and down the hallways, slamming doors, and just generally being college kids, and I was awakened multiple times each night because of this.
Also– the hotel is right on the river, which is mostly a good thing (there’s a lovely walking/​running path right alongside the hotel that takes you along the river), but it also means that Spokane’s rather large indigent population has easy access to the hotel grounds. On my second night there, a man who was obviously extremely intoxicated stood under my window (I was on the second floor) and started yelling things like «WHY, GOD, WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME??!» and more at the top of his lungs at 3am. It was very hard to listen to, as he was obviously in a lot of emotional pain. He was hurling himself around the lawn and punching his own stomach, and had it not been scary and sad, it would have been like a scene from an angst-​y play. He finally collapsed onto the lawn, apparently passed out. I called 911 because I was worried he would harm himself, and if I had been on the first floor, I would have been slightly concerned for my own safety because he was behaving so erratically. I called at 3:15am, and watched out the window until 4am, and finally went to bed without the police showing up (yet). I called the next day, got the incident report, and was able to confirm that two officers did show up and that the man was a «very intoxicated indigent person» whom they asked to leave the property. The whole thing made me sad. I hated to get the guy in trouble, because he was clearly already suffering, but it was just not okay what was happening. I was a little miffed that the police took more than 45 minutes to arrive, but at least they finally did.
None of this should be held against the Red Lion, but it is a good thing to know about Spokane. I hope the city finds a way to help their indigent population in a more constructive way.
In any case, the hotel was very good, especially for the price, and I would happily stay there again in the future, although I definitely recommend asking for a corner room in area 4, on the second floor, and with a river view.

Better than the reviews make it out to be. Food was good, staff was friendly and fast. Enjoyed a good meal on the patio by the water.

Pros: friendly staff… although dont say you’be called all the hotels in spokane and they have the same policies because that is an obvious lie. it’s on the river and has a fitness center and pool. Free WiFi
Cons: outdated rooms. Beds that cave in and are uncomfortable. We were supposedly upgraded for an inconvenience we experienced, but the bathrppm had no tub which I enjoy soaking in. The room got too hot at night and the outdated a/​c heat unit only allows heat so I had to open the sliding door to cool off. The shower had caked on shampoo on the walls. Did they not clean this? In room coffee maker needed cleaning. No free continental breakfast and they require hold placed on your card even if all room expenses are billed to work and you don’t plan on ordering room service.

Eh. We joined the loyalty program and stayed in two different Red Lions during our vacation to Silverwood. They were both just OK. We arrived at this hotel late at night. Reception staff was pleasant and welcoming. Beyond the lobby, they hotel needs a major facelift. It smells old and musty. Our room was relatively clean but zero soundproofing. I could hear people taking showers, babies crying, people coming and going.

This is the second time I have stayed at Red Lion and am quickly becoming a fan! The front desk people could not be more accommodating received a gr What a relief to be here after a nightmare stay last night in Portland! eat quiet room with easily access to the grass for our dog. Parking is free. The room has all the necessary amenities (iron, safe, hairdryer nice products even refridge and the Free Wi Fi works great!) The beds and linens are comfortable and first class. We had a AC problem called the desk and engineering was here in 5 minutes and replaced the panel and filter! Perfect now. The restaurant is Riverside great solid traditional fare. Beautiful on a moonlit night. The bridge reminded me of Ponte vecchio in Florence on the river. Buffet breakfast was included too can’t ask for more at this price great deal! Will definately come back …

As a Red Lion Loyalty member, I would have thought that you would get better service but definitely not at this place. This was worse than my first stay.
I initially stayed a month ago at the Red Lion at the Park in the Parkside Grand Suite and did not have a great experience either secondary to the lack of amenities within a suite. However, I am all about giving places a second chance, so I stayed at this sister hotel because I could get a free breakfast in the morning. Upon coming into town I came to the Red Lion River Inn at 400pm. My room was not ready. Not only was it not ready, many others in the lobby did not have their rooms ready. In fact, I counted 6 to be exact. I asked when check out was and they said 12. I also confirmed that the rooms were supposed to be ready at 3pm. They confirmed yes. So I asked, why aren’t they ready? It looks as though there is a major problem with the housekeeping and time management. They didn’t have an answer.
The service was so poor, that a colleague of mine was actually given a key to another guests room once her room WAS ready! Talk about embarrassing and totally unacceptable. My room was not ready until 430pm (630pm my time). Several of my colleagues actually left after the first night. I didn’t want to have to repack my belongings, but I definitely wanted to go especially after walking into their room and walking into the hallway. The hallways were filthy, the room (King suite) was not cleaned appropriately, it smelled musty and moldy, and my handle for the cold water in the sink came off in my hand. Thank goodness I come from a blue collar family! I fixed it myself!
Although the hotel is very close (within a 5 minute walk to Gonzaga University campus) I would highly recommend staying somewhere else. In fact, my friends after leaving went to the Oxford suites which I visited later the next day and wish I would have repacked my belongings and checked in there! Beautiful, very good customer service, clean and no musty smell.
Sorry Red Lion, I gave you a second chance and I will be staying at another hotel the next 7 times I come back up for business and spending my hard earned money where guests are treated with more respect regardless of loyalty or not.

Mediocre food that is very over priced. The service took almost a hour from ordering to eating.
Took a almost a half hour before we got to order. Not impressed with service.
We will not ever come back to this restaurant again.

Don’t book for groups. It’s not worth the hassle.
My mom booked for our huge group, a family trip with my sister’s high school softball team to state. She called and spent an extensive amount of time making very specific reservations over a month in advance for a May trip.
She had to call back more than 10 times to fix different problems; first they «didn’t realize» we needed Queen beds so badly, and it only snowballed from there, creating added worry — even a few days before the trip when we were informed we had «like premium» rooms and not the premium rooms reserved weeks ago.
We didn’t expect a palace — cheap, clean, convenient location with no frills. But they messed up our reservations so many times it wasn’t worth it.

Our little menagerie (two hippies, two furry dogs) passes through Spokane at least twice a year on our pilgrimage to Missoula. An unintended consequence of this pit stop is that we’ve grown rather fond of Spokane. The downtown is hoppin’, the food is great, and the river path offers a welcome respite to the road-​weary traveler.
This past trip was our first time resting at the Red Lion, and I can definitely say that we’ll be back. The hotel was situated in a great downtown location, the rooms were clean and well-​appointed, and our stay was very, very quiet.
In fact, it was a little bit *too* quiet – the front desk forgot to give us our wake-​up call on Friday morning! Red Lion loses a star for that. I barely made it to Missoula in time for happy hour!
Surprise Sleep-​in aside, I think we’ll be back. For the price, it really can’t be beat.
