Morty’s Tap and Grille is just another Bar that sells food if you ask me. The food is typical bar room food. If your looking for a place to drink and then eat as an afterthought… this is your place. I would not however eat here just for the sake of dining… NOT THAT GOOD!

Warm beer, over cooked wings, slow service from servers that just don’t wanna be there. All this during the Apple cup, when fans are assured to be here. Sad.

I’ll start with the positives. We love the food here, the country fried steak and country skillet are some of our favorites. There are also really cool daily dinner specials (taco Tuesday, etc.). It’s a nice neighborhood bar and we love coming to Morty’s and we will continue to eat here. However, we will not eat here if we want to be served in a reasonable about of time.
This morning we came for breakfast. Our service was pretty terrible, and unfortunately it isn’t the first time we’ve experienced this. Both times it’s been the same waitress/​bar tender. She seemed more concerned with pouring shots to the group of men at the bar than serving her tables. At one point, over 15 min after we ordered our drinks, she realized she hadn’t delivered them, she also forgot what I wanted to drink. She then yelled at me from the bar to ask me what I ordered, that was a first for me. I honestly would have been happy to wait the exorbanate amount of time for our food to show up if I had at least had coffee, which by the way didn’t show up until after our food came over an hour after we sat down. Unfortunately, reading other comments and based on our experiences this seems to be a recurring pattern that other patrons have noticed as well.
I hope that Morty’s will either work on training their servers better, or schedule more staff so the guests waiting for food and drinks can all be served in a reasonable amount of time. Overall we were disapointed in our experience this morning.

Food was good but we waited over an hour for it. Had to ask for water at least 4 times. And the bartender was SUPER rude. Definitely won’t be going back.

They have solved the fly problem! Along with the great food, the bartenders and wait staff make this the top go-​to spot on the South Hill.

The breakfast was really good, the southern style gravy was well– very southern and tasty, portions are more than generous. We will go back and would honestly like to go at night and hang as adults– sans the hyper emotional two year old that follows us around for some reason :) you know the fabled date night other parents speak of?

My husband and daughter went to Morty’s for Mother’s Day — WORST experience ever. We regularly go to Morty’s but not anymore. We waited over an hour and a half for our breakfast and when it came it was cold, which means the server let it sit. Our server said Mimosas were complimentary to Mom’s so I indulged but she ended up charging us for it anyway. The ONLY reason I didn’t complain is my husband so wanted my day to be special that I didn’t want to dampen his spirits. Note to Morty’s — if you can’t pull off Mother’s Day breakfast, don’t offer it. The result: DISMAL FAILURE. We won’t be back.

It’s not very often I find myself that far on the south hill. Now that I have found this quaint little bar and grill… I’ll be back. Although a little early for lunch at 1100 o’clock, we decided to stop in and check it out. At first the service was slow, we almost left after 10 minutes waiting for our drinks. I am glad we were patient, after the waitress brought the drinks and took our order everything went fast and friendly.
I had the Louie breakfast Benedict, WOW it was phenomenal. King crab on an English muffin with eggs Benedict, and a side of perfectly cooked hash browns. Strongly recommend going here for breakfast served until 1:00. I think I will go back on a Thursday have breakfast drink beer until evening then devour their 1pound special of steamed clams. Can’t wait see ya there!

Food was ok but service was really slow!!! Said they were busy– but there were a lot of empty tables. Will not return.

Great local pub with great food. It’s my favorite BLT — I order it with extra tomatoes and add some onions… great sandwich with plenty of thick bacpn. Great place to meet friends and relax! Lots of tvs for sports as well. Oh… and breakfast is the BOMB!

Want good food for a good price? Eat here! Eat brunch here! We’ve been here multiethnic times ordering different plates and have yet to be disappointed. Nice staff and good service too!

Morty’s is the best hangout place on the south hill. I often meet my friends for breakfast /​drinks or a quick lunch before picking my kids up from school.

So this review is based off only one visit, and a take out order at that, but I was surprisingly impressed. I was having one of those feeling miserable with woman issue days and needed greasy food, pronto. And not the fast food type of grease, but the real food kind. Now be it as it may, I’m not always a fan of greasy food and the low rating review telling how they thought it was too greasy is why I decided to give it a try. Well that and the fact is is pretty close to where I live.
Upon entering, I actually felt like it was home. This is seriously a place I would come hang out alone and drink and feel comfortable doing so. The music was decent and it had that friendly atmosphere. I would however say, if you are eating in or with a group of people, the service may be a little slow. It seemed as if the bartender (who seemed amazing) was manning the whole place alone so not sure if that’s a day to day thing but just something to keep in mind.
My order was ready when I got there and when I got home with it, it was still nice and warm. I got the usual burger (just plain bacon cheeseburger) and let me tell you, it was not «too» greasy. It was big, and flavorful and I definitely could NOT finish the whole thing. The fries were also okay. I wouldn’t say «excellent» but not too greasy, not overcooked either.
I also got an order of chili cheese fries. Let me tell you, I am picky about chili cheese fries but these were amazing! I paid about $ 20 for my order but I have plenty of leftovers for dinner. I will be back here again and I hope my next experience is as good as this one.

Was in here for the first time. Thought we’d try a new place. Place wasn’t busy since it was Saturday afternoon. Boyfriend ordered the chili cheese dog with fries and I had the hot wings with the extra hot sauce. Chili cheese dog was bland with a tomato-​y taste and fries were limp. My hot wings were bland and not spicy. It was awful. The carrots and ranch dip was good. Won’t be returning.

The outside is deceptive; based on the view from Regal, I thought it was a dive bar. The inside has an industrial sports bar vibe, and they have daily food/​drink specials. I had the BBQ Burger which was pretty good, but a little greasy. Same with the fries, they weren’t terrible, but a little greasy and overcooked. For sports bar food I was satisfied. Service was prompt and polite. I’d go back and maybe try sitting on the patio.

Just had breakfast there on 7÷29÷14. I’m very disappointed. They used to have great breakfast there. But this was bad across the board. The staff acted like they didn’t know what to do, or what the menu was. I ordered the sirloin steak. Morty’s used to have the best, now it’s tough and barely eating. The bartender didn’t know what to charge me for a drink. It took 35 minutes to get my breakfast out, and I had to send the steak back to be cooked further.
I would not eat there again any time soon.

Great burgers and wings. Have eaten here many times while grabbing a beer and got food to go a few times. Always great quality and good prices. Service is good too. Friendly bar staff.

Great pub designed for folks looking for a great tasty meal on a budget. I stopped in today & had the house special Steak & Bake for 10 bucks-​you can’t beat that with a stick!
I’ve read a couple rather negative reviews, & I can honestly report outstanding service and great eats. They’ve got a few rotating handles for beers with great diversity for anyone looking for craft beers as well as plain domestics.
