Forget going to the grocery store for chocolate on Valentine’s Day. Come here instead and spoil your loved one(or yourself) on some fine chocolate. The chocolate may be on the pricier end than just snagging Hershey’s, but it is well worth every penny as the milk chocolate is creamy, sweet(but not too sweet) and decadent. I am a huge dark chocolate fan and their dark chocolate is simply perfect. It is bitter and sweet and actually tastes like chocolate. The coffee here is also amazing and well crafted by people who know the difference between a latte and a mocha. Every time I come in, it does take a little long for my coffee to be made but I think it is worth the wait. They also have fine tea. So long as they continue making simple delicious chocolate and rich coffee I will keep coming back.

The February 5, 2015 Inlander featured an ad for…“Hallets Chocolates” and at the bottom of the ad was the name, «Chocolates and Coffee House». Mmmmmm, what a combination! Funny, their website offers online sales of their candies but makes no mention of good coffee at their retail shop. The day I was there, the local beans featured included Indaba’s Guatemala blend, and Cravens’ Costa Rica. I chose the Indaba blend for a 16 ounce mocha, to be made with almond milk and one of their house made chocolate syrups, the 56% semi sweet version. While awaiting my latte, I received a sample of one of their hand-dipped chocolate candies, a maple something, coated in dark chocolate. Loved the mildl chocolate coating but was not a fan of the filling, too sweet for my personal tastes. I did purchase a couple of pieces to take home, a dark chocolate Haystack(coconut) and a milk chocolate peanut bar. Very delicate chocolate tastes but sweet in the peanut butter. Hubby thought the chocolate overpowered the flavor of the coconut in the Haystack. I think we need to acclimate to the mild dark chocolate Halletts crafts. Maybe that’s why my initial taste bud encounters with sips of the mocha I ordered was of bewilderment. «Where’s the chocolate??» The coffee tasted Indaba wonderful but the chocolate in it wasn’t apparent. I went back to the barista to talk about it. She explained that there was a scoop and a half of syrup and the almond milk was unsweetened, and offered to add more syrup. As I was already halfway through my drink, I didn’t take her up on the offer. Hmmm, I guess I like a strong chocolate flavor without the sweet, so next time, will try the 72% bitter chocolate syrup. The physical arrangements are inviting, a mix of tables and comfy-looking couches. There is an artfully arranged display of their hand-crafted chocolates, reminding me of gems in a jewelry shop. Gift items are available. They do custom molded chocolate forms. Free wifi is available. A very pretty and charming shop. I look forward to stopping back soon.
