Stopped in here driving through to get back home to Drippings. We were going to hit up Opie’s(which we’ve had tons of times) but it was all out. No fear! We’ve seen this place numerous times and thought it had to be good considering the other options in the area. Nope. We ordered a half pound of fatty/moist brisket(which is basically the standard measurement to rate BBQ) and a half a pound of turkey… to act healthy. :D The brisket was some of the worst I’ve had in central Texas. The fat was somewhere in between gristle and fat; it had not fully rendered into the meat like other great fatty brisket. For a fatty cut, it was surprisingly chewy in places and lacked a good bark. It had a good smoke ring but the bark was more of a caramelized chew than a peppery bark found in Texas BBQ. To top it off it was on the bland side. Somewhat smokey flavor with a dull finish. Just not good. So let’s try the turkey. Maybe it’s what they’re good at! Nope. This is basically Thanksgiving turkey with the slightest smoke flavor. There isn’t much to say about it because it was just lacking everything. It was tender enough, though. That’s ok… I’m sure we can smother these meats in a delicious sauce! Nope. If you want sauce, it will cost you approx. $ 2.50. D: To top it off, it tastes very much like a store bottled sauce but I won’t claim that it was because I don’t know. How about them sides?! They’ve gotta do SOMETHING right? Nope. BBQ beans: Canned baked beans. More importantly, BBQ beans aren’t sweet. I’d let that slide but I can all but guarantee these are canned. Gross. Green beans: Canned bland trash. There is no excuse for BBQ this bad in an area with Opies, Terry Black’s, Salt Lick, Franklins, and La BBQ,(I’ve even heard«It’s All Good» is decent). The staff was nice… I mean she said thank you and all. I hate giving bad reviews but sometimes the owners need to know. Just stay away unless they announce a true rebranding with new recipes and fresh ingredients because right now you’re paying a premium for canned food and sub-par BBQ. I question the one 5 star review here. Partly because they judged it by a BBQ sandwich. Anyone worth their weight in brisket knows that a BBQ sandwich is for people that don’t have a passion for BBQ. Drive past this place. Oh, one last thing… I never waste food. I will often down it even if it’s not great. …Gave the rest of the turkey to my dog.

$ 6.75 for a brisket sandwich is awesome. Quality BBQ. Convenient location. It was ready very quickly and the folks there are very pleasant. Ever had a BRISKETEGGROLL? Well you should!

I had a delicious brisket sandwich at a reasonable price. I plan on stopping here again. It’s real and I like that. No frills deliciousness.
