Everything is amazing on the menu! Tender and moist pulled pork, ribs and brisket. Delicious sides. Definitely worth the drive to enjoy some of the best BBQ in the country!

I don’t know where to start. Small trailer in a parking lot north of Tulsa. Very unassuming but don’t let that stop you from driving up to Sperry for some of the best BBQ I’ve had. Ribs were cooked to perfection. Meat was smoky and tender, juicy and downright heavenly. Brisket was tender and juicy. Just the right amount of smoke. Hot links are simply amazing. Hot and spicy, and the casing snaps. So tasty. A word of warning, though… call ahead and place your order. They are only open until they run out of ‘que. I will be back next time I’m in Oklahoma.

All the meats here are expertly smoked to perfection! Donnie takes excellent care of his product all morning long so that everything is ready when he opens at 11am, that’s when you need to be there and in line, because he sells until he runs out. For instance, I was there today at 1:30pm and I bought his last ribs. Everything is served simply, only 3 sides to choose from; beans, potato salad & coleslaw. All beverages are served in cans & all food served in foil lined styrofoam. If you can’t get there early, make sure you call ahead to see if he has anything left, especially on Wednesday when Prime Rib is the special! Always worth the drive up to Sperry!

The BBQ is very good. It’s definitely in the top 5 of Tulsa-area BBQ. I ordered the pork ribs, full dinner, with baked beans. The ribs were meaty and good. Their BBQ is saltier than most(must be their dry rub?). BBQ sauce was excellent. Good bark. Great smoke taste to the meat and every once in a while the smoke from their smoke pit would catch on the breeze and you’d get a the smell of hardwood smoke and that really added to the experience. The beans had a tang to them that surprised me on the first bite, but after a half dozen bites I couldn’t stop eating them. They are open Mon-Fri from 11 – 6. They close at 6 or whenever the food runs out. So if you’re going to eat dinner there instead of lunch, then make it an early dinner. Popular items sell out fast(e.g. call ahead to see if there is any smoked prime rib available on Wednesdays). There is no restaurant with a dining room. It’s a trailer and you order outside at the window. There are a couple of outdoor picnic tables you can sit at. If you’re having trouble finding the place(the address wasn’t in my GPS) then look for Daylight Donuts. Buffalo’s BBQ is right next door in the white trailer. They do take credit cards and I got excellent cell phone coverage there. Parking is in a gravel lot. There’s not a lot of parking, but it seems to serve this place well. The two picnic tables provided for customers are in bad repair and need replaced. There were no bins for disposing of trash when you’re done eating. I ended up driving home with it and throwing it away at my house.

Road trip today to try Buffalo’s Barbeque in Sperry. Drive north on Peoria, through North Tulsa, and Turley until Peoria becomes highway 11 and in a short time you are in Sperry. Buffalo’s is a trailer located next to a Daylight Donut shop. I ordered ribs and sliced brisket and my experience was mixed. First the ribs. Outstanding! These were stellar, perhaps some of the best I have eaten. They were sauced which is not my preference, but still, I enjoyed the smoky flavor and the excellent rub. The meat was tender yet still clung to the bone. Unfortunately, the brisket was a different story. The meat was very dry with the texture of roast beef. This time the sauce was the only redeeming factor. Very disappointing! So, if you make the trip to Sperry, my advice is to stick with the ribs, or perhaps try the prime rib special on Wednesdays.
