Design Tile & Stone

We are in the process of building a new house, and I scoured this town backwards and forwards looking for tile. I talked to just about everyone at every store, and must have looked at thousands of styles of tile. When it finally came time to buy, there was no question that Design Tile & Stone was absolutely tops in every way.
First of all, they have a wonderful selection of really gorgeous tile — stuff you won’t find anywhere else. They are also extremely competitive with their pricing: We ended up with truly beautiful, high-​quality tile for not much more than the blah stuff we were considering at Floor & Décor. Total no-​brainer on that decision!
Last, but definitely not least, the owners and staff at Design Tile & Stone are stellar. Not just knowledgeable about tile (and helpful with design, too), but truly nice, caring people who go so far above the norm in terms of service and just all-​around kindness that the term «above and beyond» seems inadequate. I came to them at a time when our build was stressing me out in a huge way, and they did everything humanly possible to help me, even when it was clearly not going to make them much, if any, money by doing the things they did to save the day for us.
There is one more thing I would like to say: I read the one negative review here, and I really wonder if the person who posted it might have this store confused with another, as it is simply impossible that the people at Design Tile & Stone would ever treat anyone that way at all. These are wonderful, conscientious, and generous people who give absolutely top notch service, have great prices on fabulous tile (and some lovely granite as well), and will make sure that you are very well taken care of. Really, this is the place to go – and believe me, I went everywhere, far too many times, so I know! :)
UPDATE: We had picked out prefab granite before I ever started looking for tile. Had found a place in the bay area that sent us a sample we thought would work, and the price was very good. We had not actually seen it in person. We were just about to go pay for it and pick it up when we discovered it would not fit in our horse trailer. As we were now DESPERATELY short of time, my husband sent me on a mission to find something locally. Once again, went everywhere, and the prices in our area just about gave me a heart attack. Design Tile & Stone had one piece of prefab that was really nice, almost perfect for our color scheme, and the price was reasonable for how pretty it was, but the colors were just not quite right.
Fortunately, Randy, the owner, came out to talk with me about it, and he said that he would go granite shopping for me if I told him what I was looking for. I emailed him some pictures, and wouldn’t you know it, he put in an all-​day driving trip and found me something about as perfect as could be! Yes, it is somewhat more expensive than the stuff in S.F., but I have since learned that the place we were going to buy from in S.F. has a bad rep for selling poor quality stone, often flawed or damaged. Randy, on the other hand, personally and painstakingly inspected every piece for me, making sure it is all good. Plus, he is transporting it personally, so I have no worries about it getting damaged on the trip. I seriously can’t believe how far (literally and figuratively) he was willing to go to help us – and I know he is making little, if anything, on this sale. AND, compared to what I saw elsewhere in town, this granite is far prettier at a much lower price than anything even remotely in the same ballpark. Randy, if you are reading this, THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!
Bottom line: If you have a certain look in mind for your granite, talk to Randy and he’ll go (nearly) to the ends of the earth to try to find it for you. Just amazing!

Best showroom and variety of products I was able to find in the Reno area. The big box stores offered nothing that compared to the diversity and quality of the tile at Design Tile. The business is family owned and they provided me with top notch service. You can even check out tiles to take home (at no cost) to see how they match up to your design choices. Delivery was fast and low cost. The owner even dropped off the tile at my home one night and had a beer with me.
