Advanced Pet Care

Thankful that we were able to get in on two occasions for emergency care for our dog and cat. The cat suddenly went lethargic so an exam and shot brought her back to her spirited self. Our treasured 22 lb tabby cat always the lord of his domain yet lost a fight to something larger and his rear end caught two canine teeth punctures from some unknown monster. The staff and vet went to work and so amazingly handled him so well, shaved the area to see the wounds, gave a shot that would last a week and gave us instructions for follow up care, warm towels with a splash of dawn to keep the wounds soft to keep draining. I was so amazed at the price plus a senior discount. Sammycat is recovering well and I got a follow up call. Great care, clean facility and a great cup of coffee. Advanced pet care is certainly a place you can count on for emergency or routine care. I would trust them for all services.

We just took my 11yo cat in to get some shots and a checkup and also an indepth check into his eyes. We spent no time waiting and saw the nurse to start doing vitals immediately after filling out paperwork. Dr. Ulrich was our vet and she was amazing with my very bratty cat. He was even hissing at me but not her. We got my cat the care he needed at an affordable price and was given prices before any procedures occurred. I was mostly amazed with Dr. Ulrich’s willingness to sit and talk with us about any questions and concerns we had which we did. She spent about 20 extra minutes with us just answering questions we had. This is my go-​to vet from now on. My cat got a checkup and three vaccinations for $ 56.36.

#renolocation. Was five stars until management and owners withheld information from us about our dog. An incident happened two weeks ago while our doggy was at day care, they didn’t tell us about it bc we spend a good amount of money to board our dog there everyday (assuming they didn’t want to upset us) and then this morning we go there and they have an employee tell us our dog is no longer welcome (that was uncomfortable for the employee and we felt bad for them). Isn’t that management or the owners responsibility? I would like to thank Kelly and Mandi and the rest of the staff that took care of our little girl. I have a call in and I will be waiting for a call back.

I am new to the area and my pooches needed some TLC. I knew my little guy needed a dental (badly) and I also needed vaccinations for both dogs. Dr. Moore is outstanding and definitely has a gentle touch. The rest of the staff is amazing as well.
The day following the vaccinations, they even called to check on my fur babies to see how they were doing! So very thoughtful!
Fast forward one week to the dental for the little guy… They quoted me two prices (one lower and one higher depending on how many extractions were to take place). They were able to save some of the teeth and limit the extractions, saving me a few hundred dollars! They were never pushy in regards to extra unnecessary treatment, are fairly priced, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who will listen! My little one is recovering well and is back to himself in record time. Kudos!

We love advanced pet care! We have been taking out dog for his regular check ups and they have been great. More recently, we had his torn ACL repaired there by Dr. Morgan and the entire staff made it easy to undergo. I was pretty upset (really upset) when I found out that he would need surgery and even worse when I had to actually drop him off. Everyone was very understanding, answering my questions and calls while he was in surgery and providing updates. They have been great with aftercare as well. I would highly recommend them to everyone!

I just want to say, I took my bloved mijo kitty in there for a tooth ache this is all I wanted to see what was wrong with his tooth, mijo was 21yrs old, and blind he’s health was not the best, but he has been my whole life, and I just wanted him to feel better for what time he had left, of course they wanted todo a lot of test on him which I wasn’t happy about, he was alive, and well when they took him behind the door’I heard him scream out with a LOUD MEOW LILE HE WAS ASKING ME TO HELP HIM then all went quiet, the dr came out and said he had a stroke from being over stressed as they worked on him, so I went into a lifeless body, I took my mijo there to get better, and NOW HE WAS LIFELESS! they packaged him up, and I took him home, as I pulled in my drive way he took his last breath, and died I WAS CRUSHED!!! AND FEEL SO BAD FOR TAKING HIM THERE I JUST WANTED HIS TOOTH LOOKED AT AND NOW HE’S DEAD! I will never forgive my self for taking him there, how can a cat go from being alive, and with in 15mins he is dead IM VERY UPSET, even tho thr dr did express concern IT DOES’NT MATTER THEY OVER STRESSED MY BEST FREIND AND LEFT ME WITHOUT HIM, I M NOT HAPPY SO THIS IS WHY I WROTE THIS REVIEW REST IN PEACE MY BEST FREIND MIJO KITTY

I took my cat here for her health certificate, Dr. Sarah Kalivoda did a general health check on her while finding a serious infection among her teeth, and both the vet and the nurse are very professional, they told me a lot about the infection, and suggest me to find a vet to deal with the infection as soon as I relocated. I was really worried about my cat’s health, and asked them a bunch of questions, but they are very patient with me and answered all of them.
Since there are still a week before I move away, I decided to have her dental problem treated here. My cat’s operation was today and everything went out good. Though I feel sad that she had four teeth pulled out including one canine teeth, I can tell that she is released from the pain that those teeth used to gave her, and she recovered very well once she got home. When I came to pick her up in the afternoon, I came to her kennel and saw she was wrapped in a very clean blanket, and their working area is very clean as well. I am happy to see that she is taken good care of, and the staff are very detail oriented toward my cat. During the operation, Dr. Sarah Kalivoda also cleaned up her hot spot and shaved the area, I really appreciate that.
I am moving to another place and I really wish that I knew this place earlier, something impressed me the most here is that they seem not expecting me spend a lot of money on some useless test, what they recommended me to do is just what my cat needed. Also, they are not putting too much expectation on me to let them do it, of course they would love to, but they let me made my own choice. Lastly, all the staff I met here have a lot of patience toward my questions, and they are all very professional and know what they are doing.

I first found them when we got our puppy fixed. I shopped around and they offered the lowest price, and then I saw how highly they were rated so I brought our dog in. They are wonderful! When she was done with her surgery, they sent me a text with a picture of our puppy saying, «I’m all out of surgery, everything went well and I’m recovering!» Or something like that. It was cute. Now we take all our pets there for everything including grooming.
Another thing I like is that they don’t pressure you into unnecessary purchases. I’ve had several vets tell me I need to get my cat micro chipped and vaccinated for all these crazy things, but she’s an indoor only cat! I told these guys that one time and they were like, «Oh. She doesn’t need any of these shots, then…» And they scratched a bunch off the list.

We took our dog to the new location in Reno after reading great reviews on Unilocal.And I can confirm this place is great! Thank you Dr. Kalivoda for taking such good care of Sobe:-)

I’ve been taking my two little doggies here for almost a year and I’m very satisfied. One of the things Advanced Pet Care does best is customer service. From the front desk staff to the veterinarians you will get great service! The facility is spacious and clean. My dogs always receive excellent and thorough veterinary care. We even bring them once a month to get groomed. I’m pretty sure this is the most affordable groomer you will find in the area. In terms of pricing to see the veterinarian it is pretty standard pricing. All in all, no complaints — only compliments!

I can always get in for an appt. The Vets are so nice and are always so sweet to Lily the Bulldog :) She love them too!!! We are very happy we chose them for our Vet

switched my puppy to APC after they cared for him when he had parvo. my original vet office was closed that day, and parvo needs immediate attention. I came across APC and they got him in and on an IV immediately.
Dr. K is really great. she was patient with me and answered all of my millions of questions and concerns.
any special requests I had Dr. K and her staff made sure to accommodate. She called me several times a day to update me on Zeus’ condition and she even went to check on him every night after business hours.
Dr. K even helped us get a reimbursement from the vaccination company for our dog’s parvo treatment costs (which was expensiveeee for my college student budget. $ 1200 for 3 days overnight. but well worth it)
I felt like we received really personal and special service during the whole ordeal.
after our wonderful experience with them during the parvo scare, we immediately switched Zeus over to APC.
he had to get another set of vaccinations after the parvo & the staff called us the next day to see how Zeus was responding to the vaccines (NEVER got that service at any other vet)
We also put Zeus in their dog boarding for one weekend. it was so cheap! something like $ 10 or $ 20 a day. and he had a pretty decent sized room. they called me at least once/​twice a day to give me an update on how he was doing or to let me know that he just ate or he just got back from his bi-​daily walk. they usually feed twice a day but Zeus eats 3x a day and they complied with us when we asked if he could be fed 3x a day instead of 2.
slightly more pricey services, but their customer care service makes it well worth the price to me.

These guys are amazing, especially Dr. Kalivoda! Everyone is always super nice, attentive, and professional. I like that they have a screen in every room to go over and show you whatever issue it is that is being addressed and to present the bill. It’s really affordable too! I really can’t say enough good things about this place and the people who work here, I’ve never had a bad experience or been disappointed with the prices, the service, or the quality of the facility. I would never take my dog anywhere else!

Dr. Morgan is wonderful, how he truly cares about your pet. I have been looking for a new vet since we moved from Carson City about 1 ½ years ago. We loved Washoe Valley, Dr. Fisher but they are not open on weekends and later hours and are now abit of a distance away. Since we moved to north Reno, I wanted to find a vet not too far away especially if I want to get my babies in sooner than later.
I am not crazy about this location but the parking is well lit and they are opening a new location in the future in Reno. The vet techs are extremely knowledgable and also treated my dog with gentle loving care.
I will say I feel very excited about finding them!!!
They are a GOD sent.

I was very pleased with the service! I called the same day I was seen they gave me different options for the treatment of my dog. They took their time to review all possibile causes of what may have caused the infection. Both doctor Morgan and Cody have an incredible bed side manner and are very professional and knowledgeable! The price was fair and I will continue to use their services.

Advance Pet Care is the best. I have been taking my shih tzu here since I first got her at 8 weeks old.
My first experience with Dr. K was nothing short of amazing. She was friendly, helpful, explained everything in detail, and was great with my new puppy. The staff was extremely welcoming. You could tell everyone enjoyed working there.
My second time coming to APC was less than stellar. I got a different vet that was very rude to not only me, but to the tech that was assisting too. However, my great experience and first impression brought me back, but under the condition that I was only scheduled with Dr. K. I didn’t want to take my chances! (I was relieved to find out on my next visit that this veterinarian no longer worked there.)
I have also brought my shih tzu here for grooming and Loni does amazing work. She is very attentive and knows what she’s doing.
But, my most recent experience with APC is what is going to keep me here forever.
My year old shih tzu was sick all weekend. I called on a Monday and explained the situation. I was scheduled to bring her in within the hour, but this time with a new vet. Despite my previous request to only be scheduled with Dr. K I told them any vet was okay.
This new vet, Dr. H, was amazing on first impression. She was great with my dog and was genuinely concerned with what was going on with her. She explained in great detail everything that she thought could be causing my dog’s symptoms. An initial treatment plan was drawn up and I was given a quote — the prices here are extremely reasonable. When I requested that they do all the diagnostic tests first before I left my dog overnight they were fine with that. Dr. H and staff were very accommodating, making sure to check on me in the exam room and offer refreshments. Dr. H came in regularly to explain the different results and what she thought it might be.
Ultimately, my dog was diagnosed with parvo. Understandably I was upset and Dr. H and staff were very sympathetic. Dr. H was amazing. She thoroughly explained the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment plan and our options for paying for the costly treatment. Everything they did for my dog went above and beyond what was expected. They were very patient and understanding of all my tears, questions, numerous phone calls (from not only myself, but my mom — aka my dog’s grandma), and visits while my dog was being treated.
In short, Advanced Pet Care is the place to take your dog or cat. The entire crew genuinely cares about the pets, that is their main priority. They make you feel welcome and like you’re part of the family. The facility is amazing, doesn’t have that clinic-​y feel to it, and is very inviting. The two veterinarians that I have dealt with have been wonderful. I can not say enough good about Advanced Pet Care.

The staff at Advanced Pet Care is amazing. Dr. Kalivoda is extremely compassionate, knowledgeable, and helpful. She took care of my dog and my cat. The entire staff was always very friendly and would spend time explaining everything they were doing. When I had to put my cat to sleep, Dr. Kalivoda was so helpful and made me feel much better through the process. Best vet I’ve ever worked with!

We are «regulars» here at APC. We went thru went of the worst weeks having to put our sweet 8 yr lab down unexpectedly. Then a few days later, our other 2 yr old lab was diagnosed with a health condition, not a great week for sure.
APC is just amazing. Amazing staff, amazing facility, amazing all around! As hard as our week was, we would not made it thru without the support and guidance from everyone at APC.
We always rate APC 5 stars and always will. If you are looking for a vet office who really cares about not just your pet, but your pets family, APC is where you should be taking your fur babies!

I heard radio shows offering a free exam. Given one cat doesn’t eat much and the other had just started getting skinnier I had wanted to get them checked out anyway. This situation gave me a good opportunity.
I ended up cancelling an appointment fairly last minute and then rescheduling the other one. The staff at no point expressed annoyance or frustration to me about these changes. That’s a bit unusual in the frequently unprofessional environment I often experience here in Reno. Maybe it’s different in animal care due to more competition. I do suspect pet care is given less priority in this economy. Regardless, their patience with me and my super busy schedule was much appreciated.
So, driving over to their place of business, I noted that it was the same location that was one of A Plus Animal Hospital’s old locations on Prater just a bit past where it becomes/​stops being 4^th street (depending on your direction of travel). I think my cat recognized it as the place where the last time he visited he had been castrated (or neutered – whatever pretend delicacy we wish to foist upon the practice) and was quite scared.
Coming in the staff was very friendly and willing to let me talk about my pets, great listeners overall. I really appreciated that. We got set up for the appointment and into a room right away.
Then veternary tech, Sierra, talked with me a bit about my pets and did a somewhat quick exam based on my fairly limited concerns. She noted weight, behavior, heart rate, coat health were all normal. I talked with her a little bit about food as well. She was very nice and helpful. Given that my cats are only a little over 2 years old, there really was not much concern by anyone. There was a small push to get some vaccinations done. I mentioned I usually use Palomino Valley for vaccinations and she mentioned their shot clinic, continuing in the tradition of A Plus’s shot clinic (but hopefully without their ridiculous policies).
Then the vet came in who who did some additional examining, talked with a bit about pet weight expectations, did some temperature measurements (which is always a funny opportunity to see my female cat’s best faces) and talked with me with a little depth about pet food. There was a little pressure to return to only higher end cat food, mostly to let me know the positive impact it had on their health. I appreciated that and was already on board, but some encouragement helps. It shows an emphasis on actual pet health rather than making money (as they’d make more if I used the cheaper food).
Upon leaving they talked with me about giving them access to records from my other vet (sure), putting my pets’ pictures on their facebook page (why not, you did give me a free visit!?) and about their facebook page generally. It sounds kind of fun, actually, so I do plan on checking it out.
A couple days later I bought some of the P.E.T. Aquadent water additive since I just haven’t gotten in the habit of brushing the cats’ teeths. They were really nice about the whole thing and gave me a sample of the same company’s pet treats, which they say further benefit their dental health. I had to wait a day to buy the Aquadent because it had just come in and they didn’t know what to charge for it yet, but they not only said they would call me back. They did. Too often businesses simply don’t call me back about services that I need when they say they will. I appreciated the callback. Overall, I noted excellent communication by all staff members. Uncommonly good.
Furthermore, I really appreciated the positive attitude, professionalism, customer-​based pace, patience, answering all questions and concerns, free visit and general vibe of the place.
I think they’re doing a great job of getting their practice going and doing it in a very intelligent way.
I always want to see businesses that are really doing things the right way and treating customers well be successful.
