DVine Bar

Overall **** I simply love this place and have recommended it to many of my friends. It has a great food and atmosphere and we always enjoy it whether we just go to the bar or a full sit down. The only downside is it gets expensive to be a regular.
Setting ***** Small inside with a Retro/​Industrial style look and a long bar. There is a «community» high table at the end of the bar which is fun to sit at as you never know who may be your table mates and what conversations can get struck up. There is a large parking lot right in front and an outdoor seating area is available.
Service**** There are a few glitches here and there as its not the most professional staff but they are young and enthusiastic. They must pool their tips as it seems like it doesn’t matter who your actual server is everyone that works here is very friendly and will take notice of your needs.
Food **** First of all you probably will not find any brand of beer, wine or liquor you ever heard of as they carry mostly small batch product. If you are open to trying new things you might be pleasantly surprised. The menu focuses on small plates and is seasonal but I have been here through every season and everything I have tried has been consistently good.
Value ** This is the one hit, big dollars for small portions! $ 18 for a smallish portion of mussels, $ 18 for cauliflower pizza, $ 46 for a bottle of white wine! All told $ 122 before tip for two, expensive date night!

Everything from the atmosphere, the waitstaff, the cocktails to the menu was on point. Each course came out better than the next. My only disappointment was I didn’t have room for dessert. Excellent excellent choice for food and drink! You won’t be disappointed. We ordered the olives, gazpacho, tacos, bacon sliders and the shrimp!

Amazing food, each dish more delicious than the next. Cauliflower is amazing. Roasted broccoli with noodles and sprouts, mouth watering. Ribeye tacos are amazing. Ice cold wines and champagnes. Stellar service. Amazing neighborhood gem. Place is on the small side, but well worth any wait. Will be returning soon.

Loved the food and atmosphere! Extensive wine and drink options and creative menu. Also has available outdoor seating for nice weather. The only drawback was there was a loud group, but the food and wine trumps the noise!

Unbelievably creative chef. This is a true foodie hot spot. Love everything on the menu, which by the way, changes with each season. Ingredients are fresh. Staff is friendly. Fun atmosphere. What more can you ask for?! Oh right… wine, beer and imaginative cocktails. Can’t say enough great things.

We have been there many times and usually love it but today we walked in at 345 and we’re going to sit at the bar when a bearded man saiid «hey sorry guys the kitchen is closed until 5.». We then asked if we could have a drink at the bar and wait. He responded with a verbal huff «I guess I could do one round!» Yet there were several people sitting at the bar with drinks. After years in the restaurant business I understand the change over but you never respond to a guest like that. Flat out Rude. We obviously left. As well, if that is your policy please update your answering service and your website.

Umm, just walked into dvine bar at 3pm on a Sunday which I’ve been many times and as I’m about to sit down at the bar for a drink some bearded guy says «guys kitchen closed». I said no problem we are just having a drink. He makes a face at me and says I guess I can do one drink as if we were bothering him. There were about 5 people already sitting at the bar who looked a bit shocked at his attitude towards us. I said ok thanks anyway and started heading out. At the same time an older couple is walking on and I hear him say I’m sorry we are closed.
Dvine bar– which one is it? Are you open, are you closed, you are serving people at the bar but the bearded man seems to make up the rules as he goes. He seemed visibly stressed and as a frequent customer this is the first I’ve seen this at dvine bar. I’m hoping this is not a regular pattern as I have met the owner here who runs a tight ship so hopefully this will get addressed

We arrived for our meal around 6:30 on a Friday. They had no private tables available so we sat at the communal table. Ended up being on our own for most of the time, so it was like we had a private table. The food was different than the usual fare you get at restaurants, with interesting combinations and bursting with flavor. It’s the kind of stuff that surprises your palate and makes you smile. Service is super slow. It took us over two hrs to get through some simple tapas and dessert. Yet we enjoyed the atmosphere. Not sure if we’ll be back, but glad we went. 4 stars for the tasty grub.

A great last minute choice. The ambience is trendy and fun. An amazing wine selection and IPA’s. A great tapas meal to follow. Will definitely return

My husband and I recently moved to the area, it’s been a little tricky finding really good restaurants coming from Brooklyn, were slightly spoiled – we finally were able to get a seat last week… The food and service SO good. The menu is so creative, I wanted to order everything. I had the best meal in a very long time. When I see artichokes on a menu it’s a no brainer, I’ll order it! These were the best artichokes I’ve ever had, for the entrée I had the lamb and my husband had the beef both were so out of the box I can’t say enough just how good it was. There was no food left on either of our plates! Will definitely be back. A very warm, clean, cool and inviting atmosphere.

Ok, so this place must have expanded their menu within the past year or so. My wife and I ate here last week, and it was pretty incredible. Small place, but the dishes were all spot on. You can also get a drink other than wine, I think before you could just order wine (but it had been a while since we ate there.)
Bottom line is if you haven’t tried this place, go. And if you tried it a year ago and haven’t been recently, go. It was always great, but I think it got even better with the menu expansion.

Supposedly its a wine bar; duplicate show bottles galore. Ordered Westchester Rye from cash register-​size bar. I asked for less ice, boy didn’t care: tasted like slush remnants in a 7’11 Big Gulp. It was tasteless and watery.
Bar was empty by 7. Later bar boy quips, to diners: ‘I don’t know anything about liquor’. The bar doesn’t know booze? Joke. There wasn’t one mixologist! Bar tender waited tables, waitresses drank behind bar. Kelsey was cute and dimpled; other waitresses slender-​faced, with dye and dreads — though they hardly smiled nor seized on convos.
Finger bites okay. Way overpriced. Brittle fries and aioli. Ample pizza at the bar, was salty. Not sure if this place is a tapas bar, a restaurant or just a Hansel and Gretel building sans bar tender.
Lesson: a bar, needs a bar tender. Rebel Reviewer says: 2.5 stars.

The staff were celebrating in true Halloween fashion. Pretty cool.
Had the taco of the day (Korean short rib?), duck ramen, sake mussels, chicken soba, and ginger snap cake for dessert.
They were all good, flavorful and creative. Our favorite was easily the ginger snap cake. I definitely would come back to try the other dishes.
Service was good.
Food is on the pricey side but we knew that going in so it wasn’t a surprise.

Will go back — would just like to add the server was so nice! There is always a BUT. He needed help. The guy was the greeter, hostess, bartender, and food runner working a restaurant that seats 49 people. When we were there it was only 5 tables sat, but I think it effects the flow. Someone should have helped him make drinks or run the food.
Oh well– just my 2 cents.
Menu is a nice twist on breakfast delights!

I really wanted to like this place and had high expectations based on the reviews, so we made the 40 min drive from Bergen County.
We walked in and our table wasn’t ready (despite several empty tables around) ok, no problem. Proceed to the bar for a drink. We waited a few minutes for the bar tender to appear and ask for a drink menu. Instead of quickly handing us a menu and letting us make a choice, she proceeds to make a cappuccino while we wait… Minus 1 star
We are seated and admire the dishes of the couple seated next to us. I listen as the waitress explains menu items to them. Now it’s our turn and she gives us the same explanation. Word for word, as if trying to be funny. This may have worked if I wasn’t seated 2 feet away. Moving on…
Dishes come out. The shrimp dish was good, roasted cauliflower was drenched in cheese and some kind of cream sauce (maybe mayo) so I could not eat a lot of it.
The star of the night was braised short ribs over cauliflower mash, delicious but not worth $ 22 for such a tiny portion.
Bottom line: food was good, service was eh, I’d rather drive into the city and pay the same amount for a better experience

Went here for Brunch today and I have to say I was suitably impressed. The menu while limited in selection offers inventive fare superbly prepared. While some might consider the prices on the high side I think that given the quality of the food they are more than reasonable. I posted a pic of their pizza.

I had a quick light dinner here this evening and it was delicious! This is really a 4.5 rating, imho, but I was greeted so warmly and actually walked over to my seat at the bar, I feel like rounding up instead of down.
The bar was cool. They had a lot of boutique booze (I just made that term up) with which I was not familiar. Many of the spirits were local and/​or organic. I ordered a Negroni which was the bartender, the waitress and the owner’s favorite drink. The minute I tasted it, I remembered that I really don’t like Negronis. However, I drank the whole darn thing anyways because something about it was really tasty. I think if you like this drink, you’d probably be really happy. Also, the bartender is nice.
I had two appetizers for dinner — the shrimp and the compressed watermelon salad. The shrimp was spot on. It was sizzled up in a cast iron skillet with a piece of jalapeño, a slice of lemon, and a garlic clove. Perfectly cooked and kind of fun since the skillet came out with the dish.
The compressed watermelon was interesting. The process intensified the sweetness of the watermelon and adding vinegar made it tart at the same time. I liked it. However, I’m not sure how much I liked the way the flavors melded with the fresh cheese and super tasty tomatoes. Maybe I was in a more simple mood, but, while good, I would try something else next time.
Dessert was the super-​star. The gingerbread ice-​box cake has now replaced Hudson House’ black bottom banana pie as my favorite local desert. It’s hard to describe but there were layers of ginger snaps (a comment on that in a second) and some kind of slightly fluffy extra creamy ice-​cream. Then there was a berry reduction with, wait for it … CARDAMON brittle! I was thinking, what a strange and neat idea. I tasted it and thought, what a strange and neat and delicious idea! Then, getting a bite with everything in it, made me re-​evaluate the whole dish. Amazing.
So, why the caveat? Because I saw things I just didn’t like in the kitchen. When I go to a farm-​to-​table, buy-​local kind of place, I really really don’t want to see things like Nabisco ginger snaps, Sriracha sauce, and dole juice. I understand that not everything can be made in house, but I’ve managed to make all three at home without a problem. And if the restaurant can’t, they should buy the kinds of products that align with the rest of the menu. But that won’t stop me from going back. This is a *great* local spot. Really.

I’m really not a tapas fan because I can’t wrap my head around paying so much money for a true «bite» to eat. I was not made aware of where I was going prior to getting there. There were some stand out items, but when you’re only getting a spoonful, you really don’t get to savior the moment.

It isn’t often that I come across a restaurant that I love SO MUCH that I DONT want to write a review out of pure selfishness for wanting to keep it all to myself… But alas, the world seems to know, so I shall add my 2 cents.
D’Vine Bar is a breath of fresh air, from the architectural design, to the staff (who all seem to share a unique cool-​factor), to the mouth watering dishes. I am in love.
I’ve been 3 times in a month and continue to salivate, on the regular, over several dishes — which haunt me throughout the week.
Must Have:
— Roasted Cauliflower — one of THE best things I’ve ever eaten!!!
— Bacon Sliders (I die. Again and again.)
— Fried Brussel Sprouts (I challenge you, brussel nay-​sayers!!!)
Honorable Mentions
— Mushrooms on toast
— Taco del dia
— any of their pizzas (change daily)
The menu does seem to change seasonally, but the above seem to be staples. (oh that they would bring back the «seizure salad»).
The only real negative, is that it’s a loud restaurant in the evenings. Not conducive for low conversations or hearing aids, but if you want that NYC vibe in your quaint hometown, this is the spot! (Still quiet at lunchtime during the week)
Also, enjoy food service or drinks in their outdoor miniature beer garden style patio!

I wanted to take my girlfriend out to a nice dinner and she recommended this place! Everything about the restaurant was awesome. The location is nice with a good amount of parking. There was a good ambiance inside, with bottles of wine lining the walls.
The waitress, Alice, was very helpful when we ordered drinks. There is a great wine selection but the beer options were pretty limited.
My girlfriend and I ordered the Sriracha chicken, squash bisque, a veggie platter, the taco del dia, and French fries. Everything was great! It was all so good – I feel like you really can’t go wrong with anything you order here. I’m excited to go back and try the rest of the menu!
