Learning Adventures is a family childcare licensed for 12 children ages birth to 11 years. We have a flexible daily schedule that includes structured indoor and outdoor activities, free play, preschool and supplied USDA approved meals and snacks. We take several field trips throughout the year to places like the zoo, beach, local parks, and holiday trips to a pumpkin patch and zoo lights. Unlike a typical family child care our small center is located outside of my home in a building designed solely for childcare. I have one full time and two part time assistants that attend several ongoing training classes yearly that go beyond the training required by Washington state law. in 2010 myself and my full time assistant completed our CDA (Child development associate) and in the spring of 2011 my business obtained our National accreditation through the NACCRRA (National association of child care resource and referral agency). My name is Aubrey and I am the owner of Learning Adventures Childcare. From a background of many afterschool and summer jobs caring for neighborhood children, and a part time job assisting in a family friend’s child care home I knew I would love to someday own my own Family Childcare business. After working several years in the printing industry and a short time in nursing, I opened my first Family Child Care in 2002. In 2005 I bought the house next to the childhood home where I grew up, licensed it and began construction on our property for a new child care addition. The children, my assistants and I spend a large part of our day in the child care setting. Therefore, it is important that it feel cozy and homelike. With modest indoor play areas, its own kitchen and bath, and a large outdoor play space– including a garden, a chicken coop and a bunny hutch, our day care is just that — a home away from home.
