We booked the Harborview since it was convenient to family and stayed in Cottage # 20. Upon entering the cottage, it smelled very musty. Later that night, before going to bed, I noticed a bug on the edge of the comforter. After finding another, we left. I thought that they were ticks, but after searching online these were definitely bed bugs. Management has been quite unresponsive and claims they clean things very well. I would not stay here again.

The boyf and I decided to be uncharacteristicly slacktastic with our accomodations research, showing up to Acadia National Park with absolutely no clue where we wanted to stay. We try to be super chill and not touristy, so the idea of staying in Bar Harbor was a tad terrifying. The Harborview Motel in Southwest Harbor did us right: $ 128 for a second floor room with a patio and an ocean view one night and $ 150 for a third floor suite with a kitchen(and a patio and an ocean view) another night. Those are prices we can handle, especially given the ridiculousness of the prices in Northeast Harbor($ 175 was the lowest for a non-ocean view at the Kimball Terrace). The staff were extremely friendly, especially given that we rolled in sans reservation. In fact, the woman discounted me the third floor suite $ 40 when we learned the morning after our first night at the hotel that the second floor room wasn’t available for our second night. The boyf and I were thinking about moving into one of their $ 90 rooms with two twin beds and no ocean view, but BAM! she said she had a room on the third floor and she knew we’d love. And that we did. Flat screen TVs and fridges in both rooms, though no shampoo or conditioner or hair drier in either. The wi-fi was free but slow. We ate breakfast in town, but the continental breakfast they offer looked basic but hearty. I recommend highly this hotel to no-frills folk.

Stayed here in July ’11. Basic, nice place. It’s not fancy but it’s clean and the people are nice. Without expecting anything extra, they were sweet enough to mail a package of some items that we forgot… Easy access and good prices.

Our accommodations had great views of the harbor, and the rooms were clean, even if they weren’t fancy or modern. The motel and cottages are on a quiet side street near 102, sharing the street with just two other homes, so there’s little through traffic. The staff was friendly, as well. The only drawback was that some of the furniture needs updating: in the cottage we rented, the mattress was definitely sagging, and the couch slanted forward uncomfortably.

We stayed here towards the end of the July 4th east coast heat wave. We had a very clean and spacious room on the 3rd floor — a queen and 2 twins, plus sofa in the sitting area that looks out to a beautiful view of the harbor — with lots of skylights. No shampoo, and no air condition, but the windows and a couple of fans kept us very comfortable for the night. Friendly staff and great value. We’ll definitely come back if we visit the area again. Breakfast at Grumpy’s just 5 min walk down the road has a great view, good food and friendly staff.

it’s been a few years, but we stayed here after our cottage was damaged and we had to work on it for 10 days in april. a lousy month for maine, but nontheless, we needed to get up there. we looked around at b&b’s and even in mud season, they wanted $ 150/night. we just couldn’t do it. so i stopped in here and guess what? the room was huge, view of the harbor, first floor, clean as a whistle, coffee every morning, centrally located and lovely people. after about 5 or 6 days, we had to move(we were in the ADA room) and they put us up in the heavens. another great room with a view. only problem, the heat went out but within the next morning, the guy was there fixing it. the rate(at that time) was something like $ 60/night and they gave us a discount on that. super cool people, definitely check this place out.
