We went for dinner on our recent vacation. The food was delicious! My husband got the special; lobster mac and cheese and it was incredible — creamy with giant and plentiful lobster chunks. I had the clam chowder and it was flavorful with lots of clams and potatoes. Of note, we were there with another couple and she is dairy and gluten free due to allergies and although the restaurant advertises being gluten free, they no longer serve gluten free pasta and so she was left with 2 options for dinner. Aside from the food, we felt the rest of the dining experience left a little to be desired. — The service was mediocre. Since the restaurant is divided into 3 parts, it was a little unclear where to go to put our name in for a table. And once we did, there was some confusion about the order of people on the list. No part of the service was particularly expedient. We witnessed the bartender being rude to another patron who asked for service, In general, they seemed understaffed. — The tables are very close together. — They have an outdoor bar attached to the restaurant. We decided to have a drink while we waited for our table. When we were there is was mid Oct and 40 degrees out at night. The heater wasn’t on and the bartender had no idea how to swap out the propane tank to get it working.

Outdoor seating is basically right at the sidewalk downtown, yet feels comfortable with just a few plants serving as a boundary. I sat outside and got the turkey salad on whole wheat pita for lunch. It was huge! Most of the filling was actually salad vegetables though and so it wasn’t heavy in the stomach, very healthy and tasted nice too. They served it with a little vinagrette on the side which was a nice touch.

Veggie burgers were pretty amazing! I definitely recommend you to go for it. Patty was made up of crispy nuts and fresh veggies unlike majority of the black bean patty.

This place has been a traditional favorite of ours for years when we visit this area. The food, we usually get breakfast, has always been very good. The service has never been great but this year it was so appalling, on two consecutive visits, that we will not be going back. We brought our adult kids here, hoping they’d enjoy breakfast as much as we had in the past. All of us have worked in the restaurant business in the past and are always extra patient and respectful of servers. The server was so irritated with us for asking him to correct an order he got wrong that I actually told him his behavior was inappropriate. The food, as I said, is pretty good. If you can put up with the server having audible tantrums and waiting a long time for service, you’ll enjoy the food. We still left a decent tip because I don’t have the heart not to. My hope is that the two servers find jobs they actually enjoy and the positions get filled by people who match the quality of food prepared by someone in the back of the house that cares a lot about people’s experience. Until then, we won’t be going back.

Wow. What a disappointment. I was pre-warned that the service was terrible, but told that the food was good and worth a(lot longer that usually) wait. I was with a group of friends and family, sitting outside. Sunday, August 30th2015: 80 degrees and sunny, humid. I was in a group of 5 The restaurant was not busy — no wait — easily more than half empty. The sign said«seat yourself». Most tables are for 2 – 4 patrons. I immediately noticed that our server did not like us. He was irritable and inconsiderate. It took so long to just get our orders in. We ordered drinks and food together because it took well over 30 minutes to get any attention. I was a waitress in college, so I try to be understanding when I go out to eat. After all this, I was really expecting good food. 15 – 20 minutes — we get drinks! Woo! Honey lemonade was unique but … I didn’t even drink half — perhaps just not for me. My friend got the«intoxicating chai tea». At the bottom of her cup she found brown sludge that looked like diarrhea… Make sure to stir the chai tea. When we ordered food, I asked for the primavera omelette — requested egg whites. I have a degree in nutrition science(I like to avoid cholesterol) and this is a habitual order for me. I was the only one to order egg whites. The server made a mistake and gave my friend egg whites too, which she did not order… Then he argued with her! «YOUORDEREDTHEEGGWHITES» took the plate, tossed it at the outdoor bar and dramatically sighed. Other costumers even saw this. After that, I simply didn’t want to be there. ‘Uncomfortable’ doesn’t even describe it. His anger was frightening. I felt embarrassed. I just want to know why he treated us in such a degrading manner. My omelette was in a puddle of oil. The food I received wasn’t worth it. I cannot recommend this place to anyone, I would feel terrible if this happened to anyone else. It took a while to get the check & leave. I really wanted to get out of there. PROs: My boyfriend’s blueberry pancakes were delicious. The other orders at my table looked very appetizing… The tri-fecta was well liked. The mushrooms in my omelette were beautiful and the other vegetables were comme ci, comme ça. In the end, It wasn’t worth the distress.

Eat-a-Pita is a pretty good way to start your day. Featuring the usual breakfast fare, coupled with occasional specials, this place has something for everyone. The French toast was fairly good, though slightly on the soggy side. Pancakes were well done — not too sweet and loaded with berries. They also had a nice lemony aftertaste. The smoked salmon bagel was loaded with fish. My only complaint was that the coffee tasted like generic diner coffee. I would have expected better quality.

Excellent dinner! Almost passed it by due to the name. Luckily we stopped and sat outside in their sweet patio with live music. We had seafood scampi and crabcakes with root vegetables and asparagus. Both terrific. Highly recommend!

Such a relief to find vegetarian food. We had the vegetable pita and it was fresh! Don’t forget to order the house fries. They were to die for! Service was great and the setting perfect!

i wish i could give negative stars. this was the worst restaurant experience i have ever had in my entire life. a week later, and i a still stunned that my boyfriend and i were treated as horribly as we were!!! let me set the scene… it was an hour before they closed for lunch, we were the only ones there. we had just come back from a hike so planned on taking a pita home with us. the woman at the counter was unreasonably rude, and pointed to the menu when we asked a question, instead of just answering. me: oh, so what kind of sauce is there? her: sighs, says nothing, points at menu. you get the drift. so we order a pita to share(again, girl behind counter visibly annoyed) and a beer to share while we wait. me: can we get one of the stouts to share? her: sighs, says nothing, points at cooler. didnt even offer us glasses, we literally shared the bottle. as we are drinking our beer, the girl behind the counteer complains to the waiter that we didn’t even tip her.(ok, so now i know she can at least talk, and why the hell would i have tipped her?) the pita comes out in a to go bag, and since we still had some beer left, and since i was ravenous having waited until 3pm for lunch, we started to eat the sandwich at the table. in a completely empty restaurant that was still open for another hour. now this is where it gets good… the waiter came over and began arguing that we weren’t allowed to eat at the table since we had ordered the food to go. i thought he was joking until he point blank said you need to leave. as for the pita itself, the bread was dry and cold, and the sauce/dressing wasn’t on the pita, it was served on the side. would have been so much better mixed with the veggies, or on the pita before filling it. there are plenty of places to eat, go somewhere else. based on what i observed, they won’t be around long anyways,

Perfect breakfast spot with plenty of variety: omelets, pancakes, French toast, bagels, oatmeal. Stuffed French toast and blueberry pancakes are delicious!!! It’s also a nice place for dinner. Stayed in Bass Harbor just after Labor Day, they had a delicious butternut apple crisp soup, seasonal but oh so yummy. Smoked salmon omelet and crab cakes yummy as well. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Also have to go options, in case you decide to take a long hike and want to take something with you!!! :)

Service = 3 stars Food= 3 stars Ambiance= 3 stars wait for reserved table = 2 stars My family really enjoyed Café 2. I was pleasantly surprised at the tastiness of our food. My husband’s pasta was excellent and my pork chop was alright. Others had the filet mignon and seafood scampi. My mother-in-laws haddock was by far the best dish. I am upset I did not order it since it said«horseradish covered» and I hate horseradish, but it did not have an overwhelming horseradish taste. It was perfectly fried and very yummy. I had one of the best seats which gave a clear view of the kitchen line and I have to say the chefs are handling their business. Also, it was not overtaxed or expensive as I have read in other reviews. The prices reflect the food and service, which were great. I plan to return next time I am on the island.

Had an absolutely wonderful breakfast here with my daughter and friend after hiking Cadillac Mountain. Very fresh food entrees with lots of variety and healthy choices. We had stuffed french toast with blueberries and it was delicious. The service was excellent and the ability to eat outside was a plus. Yes, a bit pricey but it was a special meal to have with my daughter and very much enjoyed :-)

We travel a lot and this is one of our favorite restaurants! During our week in Southwest Harbor we ate breakfast here 4 times and dinner twice! Everything we had was great. It has a relaxing eclectic environment. I would describe it as casual gourmet. My favorites were the Summer Scramble, stuffed tripleberry french toast and the filet stuffed with lobster.
