Specialties
Joseph’s Italian Bistro is most noted for its fine Italian Cuisine where everything is made from fresh ingredients and made to order. We offer an array of seafood dishes, Italian style, as well as fresh fish from our local «fishmonger». We’ve been told by our customers that we offer one of the best «chops» as compared to well known chop houses. Our wine list is quite adequate and offer 90% of the wines on our list by the glass. Our service is excellent! We were voted #1 restaurant in the People’s Choice Awards 2013 & 2014 for «Best Italian», «Best Meatballs», «Best Service», & «Most Romantic». Come see for yourself why we are one of the best restaurants in the area!
History
Established in 2003.
Josephs Italian Bistro opened its doors on September 18th
2003 riding the coat tails of Hurricane Isabel’s landfall to the
North Carolina coastline. Owners, Joseph and Debra Borsuk bring
decades of experience and have dedicated themselves to providing the finest regional Italian cuisine in the area. Many of Joseph’s «secret» sauces & recipes have been passed down from his mama «Rose» who can be seen assisting her son with his daily kitchen preparation.
Meet the Business Owner
Joseph B.
Business Owner
Chef Joseph Borsuk: worked his way up from a dishwasher at his uncle’s restaurant to
owning his own restaurant, Joseph’s Italian Bistro. Along the way, his name became very familiar in Wilmington kitchens. The chef worked at The Bridge Tender in Wrightsville Beach for about 14 years and then opened Locals in Wilmington. When construction on a new marina in Southport started, he and his wife, Deb, opened The Village Market and Deli there. Then Borsuk decided to start a restaurant with a menu a little closer to his heart, Joseph’s Italian Bistro. «All of the sauces have always been made by just one person, which is myself. The clam sauces, the alfredo sauces, the marinara sauces, all that is done by one person,» he said. «And then we roast our own veal bones to make our own veal stock which makes a lot of the sauces.» The restaurant not only reflects Borsuk’s talents and dedication to fresh ingredients but it also has a homelike atmosphere that is very important to the chef.
