I have been to various Dressbarns in different states and have always had good service. However, I had to bring my two young children with me to this location recently to shop for my mother in law. Every other customer in the store except for me, even those a few feet away from me, were acknowledged and asked if they needed assistance by the older saleswoman there. The children were not acting out of the ordinary or misbehaving. My only advice is if you go to this location with children, don’t expect to receive any assistance.

This location has friendly people, and unlike what someone else posted, not all the clothes are ugly colors not found in nature. Maybe she was checking out the clearance rack. I always buy neutrals, and I get lovely black, tan, white clothes here frequently.

I admit I would be the last person that fits the 40 and up, plus size demographic that Dress Barn caters to. But to my surprise, not all the clothing at Dress Barn were frumpy, too old, or over-the-top conservative. I found some cute, blingy, modestly cut tops that fit my small petite frame, which put me in the mood to sign up for their membership program. I admit that I’m entertained by some of the feedback that I read on their online store demanding MORE conservative fashion, less bling, higher necklines, lower hemlines, less see-thru fabrics and roomy hip/seat areas. But as long as the fashion at Dress Barn is attractive to me, then I will continue to shop here. Another plus: the staff at this Southlake location is very welcoming and helpful.

I know what you’re thinking. And stop laughing. On second thought, go ahead and laugh. I still am. OK, here’s the story. Since I moved here, every time I’ve passed the sign for this place I’ve said the same thing: ‘Good grief! What woman in her right mind would shop at a place called The Dress Barn?!’ And laughed. And laughed. Well, I needed some hair-care products the other day and decided to stop into the Ulta next door. I usually shop for that kind of stuff at Beauty Brands on Denton Hwy in Watauga, but wasn’t planning to head in that direction any time soon. I’d never been in an Ulta but figured if they had what I wanted, it would save me a trip. So anyway, so I get out of my car and am walking toward Ulta when I spy The Dress Barn. My curiosity got the better of me and I HAD to go in. It was pretty much what I expected. To be polite, I’ll say that most of what they had in there was not to my taste. OK, the clothes were butt-ugly — colors not found in nature, adorned with beads and sequins as far as the eye could see. But then, I’m a boring dresser; I wear mostly neutrals and solids(for some reason I think they make me look less fat). So why am I giving this place a ‘2’ and not a ‘1’? The people that worked there were some of the friendliest and most helpful I’ve ever seen. Oh, and I bought 3 pair of(solid, neutral color) Capri pants that fit surprisingly well(for $ 30 a piece). There. I’ve admitted it. I have shopped at The Dress Barn(as she laughs hysterically)… The End.

I really love a lot of Dress Barn’s clothes but unfortunately, they run SMALL. I usually wear a t-shirt size, 2X or(22 – 24 at Lane Bryant)… but Dress Barn only goes up to a 3X and they’re all too tight. They fit more like a 18 – 20.
