Closed, except for catering.
Another reviewer was disappointed because they went to the restaurant and saw a «Closed except for catering» sign.
I called before we went and the answering machine had a sad sounding person, perhaps Steve, apologizing that the restaurant was closed, except for catering.
They seem to specialize in school lunches, delivered to your kid’s school in time for lunch. Sounds like a great idea and I wish them well.

This place has a sign on the door that says they’ve closed their dining room to focus on catering.

Rude service. Walked in and had eye rolling. Sat down and waited for awhile. The people who came after us had already gotten their drinks. Really disappointed. Definitely never coming back.

This place is located in a business complex that caters to kids sport activities. Every time I drop my daughter off at her gym class, I would pick up our dinner here. The food is really great, but expensive for what you get. Also, the place is a ghost town; there’s never anyone here, and the employees are your typical bored teenagers who are texting while taking your order.
If you want coffee in the afternoon, ask for a fresh cup; it’s always cold out of the carafe.

I’m going to start this off by saying that I was a little nervous to try this place because there were some mighty mixed reviews, but the menu sounded awesome and I listened to my stomach instead.
We visited this café about 2 weeks ago and had an awesome experience. I ordered blueberry pancakes and a side of biscuit with gravy (carbtastic alert) and the boyfriend ordered the Texas Benedict.
Our food arrived quickly and I dove into my pancakes. There was an issue — it tastes weird. I made my boyfriend try a bite, he agreed. I took another bite, then realized it tasted like it was missing sugar. I got really uncomfortable because I hate sending food back; I am not that person. I tried the biscuits and gravy and was in heaven! They were absolutely delicious! I inhaled the one biscuit and was left wanting more. Boyfriend destroyed the Texas Benedict – he found a new love. Our server noticed that I wasn’t eating the pancakes, he asked if it was okay and I shamefully and apologetically told him it didn’t taste right. He smiled and took it to the back. Miss Deb came out, apologized, asked me what I wanted instead. She brought out biscuits and gravy hot off the stove about 5 minutes later. The surprise and reason for the 5-​star rating came shortly after: the check. They wouldn’t allow us to pay for my meal simply because there was an issue.

Great little local café tucked away.
Excellent offerings for breakfast, lunch, or just coffee with an old friend. Complete with comfortable seating and service that is attentive and not rushed. Menu offerings also cater to specialized diets with allowances for egg-​whites, fruit, and items customizable for special needs when required.
Catering is also available for family gatherings and office events.
I can’t think of a better place to spend time or money to receive an experience that none of the national chains can compare with.

Great Rueben sandwich! Location hard to find but this restaurant has wonderful possibilities. Was very disappointed when we asked for the chicken on our salad to not be cut up and was charged extra. Wouldn’t have been a big deal however it was VERY dry and flavorless. We had even told the waitress that we were not fond of the chicken when she asked how our food was. Couldn’t believe that the owner stuck with charging extra for the chicken even when we questioned it.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and were seated within 15min, good start. From there service derailed, or I guess disappeared, as no one came by for ~15min.
There were 4 servers who all walked by multiple times without taking a second to think «was this table helped?» If they would have bothered to ask the answer would have been no. Finally the hostess came by to check and flagged a server to take our order.
We ordered cinnamon pancakes, meat lovers omelette and chocolate chip pancakes which were not good enough to excuse to poor start.
Food was mediocre, service was bad and uncoordinated. This may have been a one off instance (I doubt it) but it’s still unacceptable given the above average prices they charge. They also need to fix their door situation, most people walk in the wrong door which leads to confused guests. They should lock the side door (you pass by this one first) and put a sign directing guests to the main entrance. 2 stars.

Southlake really needed a place like this! It’s a great little breakfast place that serves great food, quickly and for a good value. I recommend any of their Eggs Benedict and the fruit plate… can’t go wrong!
Also, the place doesn’t have a big sign so keep your eyes peeled. If you see a bunch of Southlake Mom cars (giant luxury SUV’s), you are in the right parking lot.

First of all, you have to hunt it down– it is hidden inside the same building as Elmer Swim School and some gymnastics studios off Commerce. Once you know where you’re going though, no big deal
Deb & Steve’s has the charm of a diner without the sticky tables. The staff is super friendly, the sandwiches hot and cheesy, and they serve breakfast all day. What more could you want?

You can taste the love in the food. When you make things from scratch you can taste the difference. I had the Texas Benedict what a wonderful way to start a Sunday mornjng and service was excellent too

9am on Sunday for breakfast and we got there right at 9am. Bad news: At that date, their real open time was 10am. Good news: Deb was already there getting the place set up. She warmly welcomed us and when we explained the Unilocal post and why we were there an hour early, she promptly seated us even though they weren’t really open yet. Better news: They are now opening at 9am on Sundays.
Oh…the breakfast is wonderful. We have already been back. Highly recommend the Texas Benedict: poached eggs, bacon, jalapeño jack cheese and a fantastic Chipotle hollandaise sauce served over fresh Texas toast. Their bacon is just my preference, thick, not burnt or too crispy. And the best news, they are not crowded — yet (which is why I was reluctant to post this).
They are slightly hard to find as their signage is dwarfed by the other establishments here, but just park and walk toward their colorful umbrellas and you will be rewarded.

I’ve been here a few times with my office «lunch bunch». It’s a great place to go if you have a group where some folks want breakfast (which they serve all day) or «time appropriate» food.
I’ve had a few different dishes here, and they’ve all been pretty good. Some of the highlights:
Pastrami reuben omelette — the pastrami was a little dry, but had a good flavor. The eggs were perfect and the overall dish was quite good. Get a side of thousand island dressing for dipping (seriously)!
Bacon cheeseburger — cooked to order with a big ½ patty, it’s a meaty, delicious burger served on a fresh kaiser bun. I added chili and jalapenos, and it made for a great burger
Fries — definitely not your typical run of the mill frozen variety, they’re skin-​on golden brown and delicious.
Chocolate chip pancakes — two HUGE discs of awesome, tender, pancakey goodness with just the right amount of chocolate, they’re delicious decadence.
Signature potato cake — a nicely browned mashed potato cake; texture is great, but it could use some more spice or something.
Bottom line, this is a very good place for lunch or just about any meal. Check it out!

Great hidden gem! Not hard to find, use a map! Came for a late breakfast/​brunch and was not disappointed. I had a build your own omelet with provolone, broccoli, and spinach. SO good. There was way more veggies than cheese and egg… perfect. My husband had the Texas Benedict with sausage instead of bacon. He cleaned the plate.
I look forward to trying more of their menu, in the near future!

Meh, pretty ok. I definitely wouldn’t return and wouldn’t recommend. Pretty unbelievable this place has ⁴⁄₅ on average, I trust the power of the people and the power of Unilocal and it almost never leads astray so I’m forced to assume that a lot of these reviews are suspect.
Very undercooked eggs, awfully over priced for what you get. It’s not terrible… I would say mediocre. AT BEST.

Casual café, stopped by for lunch and enjoyed it. It’s hidden on Commerce street off of Southlake. Outside you’ll find all sorts of juvenile athletic/​gym programs. I had the BLT which was very delicious. The bacon was crispy and flavorful. The fries were good too. I also had a blueberry muffin which tasted fresh as well. It was my first time here, will be returning. My only con is that the tables were a little small. Wish they had bigger tables for bigger groups.

Mind if I’m brutally honest? This place sucks!
I was looking for a new restaurant to try, and sadly Deb and Steve’s didn’t live up to it’s reviews. Their burgers had ZERO taste and no flavor at all. And on top of that, our order was totally messed up! I ordered the 1 lb. Monstrosity cooked Medium, but received it completely overcooked and verging on burned. It was hard and extremely dry, which is strange considering my plate was full of grease. My wife ordered a ½ lb. Bacon Cheeseburger to be cooked Medium Well, but received it with NO bacon and the burger was BLOODY when she cut into it!!! These people didn’t have a clue… the waitress blamed the cook, the cook blamed the waitress, and we felt stuck in the middle like we were inconveniencing everyone. And management wasn’t very friendly or apologetic about it either. Just an overall bad experience.

Found this on Unilocal.The location is dreadful. No signage. Hard to find. Harder to get to (because of a railing that forces you two doors down either direction). But I don’t hold this against them.
We came in for lunch on Wed. The place is quaint and has a mom-​n-​pop feel. Only 2 other tables were occupied. We were seated promptly by friendly staff. Drinks received and orders placed all in good time. It took over 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Not horrible, but it felt too long.
I had the Deb & Steve’s burger, medium. The burgers are BIG. It was pretty good. The meat was overcooked and the cole slaw made the whole thing fall to pieces before I was half way through. But overall, the flavor was nice.
The seasoned fries were excellent.
My wife had the kids chicken strips (featured on the menu). They were great. Not a hint of grease. The batter was light and crispy. It reminded me more of catfish batter.
We got a free cookie with our Unilocal check-​in. They didn’t have any cookies and offered a brownie instead. Sure, why not. It was really, pretty bad. Dry, with a very odd taste. (Bad eggs, maybe? I don’t know.) We only shared a couple of bites and left it.
Now, this really turned me off (and cost them a star): Rather than bringing a bill, the waitress came to our table with an iPad and told us what we owed. I must have made a face because she said, «I know. We’re high tech!» She swiped my card and then handed me the iPad to entry my tip and signature. I only got to see the actual bill after I got my receipt.
I know that 99% of the time, the bill is right, but I want to see it before I pony up. I catch mistakes on restaurant bills more often that you might think. Maybe 20% of the time when there is some coupon or freebie involved (i.e. the brownie).
If you want to be high tech, that’s fine, but *hand me the iPad* so I can see my bill **BEFORE** I give you money.

Lunch was a somber affair until the management started playing some light rock music. Then it became slightly awkward with the synthesized cheesy muzak slowing oozing from the speakers.
Aside from two other tables the place was empty, which is normally good for the summer in Southlake, where every other lunch spot feels like a feeding trough with the sheer amount of people lining up to consume.
Both tables were lightly chatting, waiting for their omelet orders while I got my chicken salad sandwich and side order of man & cheese right away.
The chicken salad resembles that institutional staple of lunch counters of the 60’s, before cooks started using roast chicken and started throwing in apples, walnuts, and plump gold raisins. Served on wheat toast, this was easily the driest thing I’ve eaten all year. The mac & cheese was simple yet creamy.
I suspect Deb & Steve’s does better as a brunch spot or a place serving breakfast at any time but for now it’s not a contender for my lunch destinations in the area.
