Established in 1972.

Established in 1972 Connecticut Lighting Centers was established in 1972 in Hartford, CT by the Director family, along with a staff of six employees. The store was the first in the area to promote the «lighting center» concept — a store solely committed to the sale of lighting fixtures, decorative hardware, floor lamps, paddle fans and accessories. From those humble beginnings, we have expanded to three beautiful showrooms, including Restoration Lighting Gallery, a large warehouse facility and successfully serve New England and beyond.

At Connecticut Lighting Centers «The customer is the boss!» This philosophy embodies the concept that the customer decides whether a business is going to succeed. Connecticut Lighting Centers was established in 1972 in Hartford, CT by my father, Art Director. The store was the first in the area to promote the «lighting center» concept.

From those humble beginnings, Connecticut Lighting Centers has expanded into three beautiful showrooms in Hartford and Southington including Restoration Lighting Gallery, a premier vintage, antique, and period reproduction lighting source. Today, we are celebrating 40 years of honesty, integrity and our focused drive to satisfy our customers’ needs. We are open 7 days and 5 nights a week.

Within the past year, I had purchased some replacement lights, that I originally bought from this company. All the protective film was pealing off. The replacement lights that I bought, did not fit and I was going to return them. When I went to the southington store, and asked about a possible credit, or exchange, I was never treated so rudely in my life. The first associate fluffed me off to a gentleman, who was equally rude. I agree that I had the lights to long, and should has exchanged them earlier, and I was not looking for anything free, a small credit towards a future sale, because I was planning on buying more lights. But this so called manager would have nothing to do with it. What was equally embarrassing was the other associates smirking in the background as I tried to have a civil conversation with this useless manager. I will do all I can to let people know how I as a paying customer was treated

My husband and I were completely ignored. We waited about 20 minutes before finally leaving without buying anything. We knew what we wanted… What a waste of our time.

Great Customer Service, Selection and Prices.
My husband and I are building a house and this place was recommended to us by our friend who had used CT Light for her recent building project. We stopped in on a Saturday to look at lighting, and before we could go off to picking pretty stuff, Ken the lighting expert, insisted we needed to look at the house plans to determine where we needed lights. He was right. He sat with us for two hours going through every inch of our home to design a lighting plan. I was extremely impressed. He will come out to our house site in the near future to confirm the lighting plan. Ken did have to take a break from us when the store got busy, which was a perfect time for us to take a break and get lunch. Ken wrote out 3 pages of detailed lighting needs (pot lights, bath lights, reading, etc.) He is very knowledgeable! We finally left with ‘homework’. Ken provided us lighting books. We returned again a couple of weeks later, on a Sunday, and Cindy helped us pick out our lights. She was friendly, pleasant and very knowledgeable as well! Cindy spent a couple of hours with us choosing fans, chandeliers, bath room lights, etc. I had a detailed price quote for all our fixtures in my inbox within 24 hours! Their prices are comparable to internet prices, and their service so far is great.
Customer service is extremely important to me, and we have chosen to NOT use a very posh lighting store close to our home because their lighting department has crappy customer service. I can’t believe that in this economy and with the internet making purchases so easy (and generally less expensive), that stores in this area have such poor customer service. The only thing that sets you apart is your customer service – the customer experience starts with making eye contact and greeting immediately upon entering your store – doesn’t matter how busy you are, look, greet, smile – 3 seconds. (Can you tell I’m passionate about service?! :-))
My experience with CT Lighting the service, the people and prices has been GREAT.

I recently purchased a home in CT and needed new lighting fixtures. I visited the showroom over the Labor Day holiday weekend. While the selection in the store was okay (hence the two star rating), the saleswoman was condescending, impatient, and downright nasty. I would rather live in the dark than buy something from this store. I rate the customer service zero stars.

With the exception of the salesman most individuals we interacted with at your Southington store was helpful and courteous; however, your salesman was a disaster. He caused us extra trips, sold us used material and incorrect material, lacked knowledge of the product, was disrespectful and condescending to our electrician, and caused the installation to take two days rather than one, and seven hours rather than 4 which cost us an extra $ 120.00.
Your TV commercial which states you are not always perfect is true. Unfortunately your company’s imperfection cost use time and money.

I was very excited about all the selection at the store, and just ordered a chandelier costing almost $ 4000. Then I went to the door hardware department and the lady there was very rude when I asked for a price for a particular lock. She snapped back «I already TOLD you that price!» Then she almost sold us the wrong lock since it would not fit the door.
What a shame, with such a beautiful showroom and all the resources and care it must have entailed to establish, that an employee could so easily ruin a customer experience!

Horrible customer service. We went here to purchase a lighting for a remodel. We stood at the counter patiently for 20 minutes, completely ignored by the staff. Finally, I asked a 40-​something brunette woman if someone could help us. She snapped at me rudely before I even finished my sentence saying there was no one available. My husband and I were stunned by her nastiness… although the general disregard for customer service seemed to be pervasive. They lost a lot of business as a result… and are likely going to lose more until management stops tolerating rude behavior among its employees.

My wife and I recently traveled to both stores (Southington & Hartford) to obtain a lighting fixture for our home. The selection was outstanding and we eventually found exactly what we needed. Initially we could not find what we wanted and the employees were not immediately available. I brought the issue to the owner’s attention, who quickly took care of the problem.
I must say that we were very impressed with the concern, leadership and overall involvement of the management/​owners from CT Lighting. We are very happy with our light selection and also with the follow up from the store to ensure any issues were taken care of.
We thank them for their time, effort and overcall concern for the customer (that would be us!)
