We stopped there because the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed already. The food was below average in taste, just to fill in the stomach, like you would go to any of the fast food chains. Don’t expect any satisfaction after eating there.

Really good chicken shawarma. I also got a side of rice, but it was huge and wasn’t that great. I would come back, just wouldn’t get the rice.

Fresh juice, guava smoothie, chicken kabob sandwich and rice plate, and fattoush all taste great during short weekend visit. Definitely will come back during the next visit.

Food is always fresh and delicious. I’m middle-eastern and I can tell you their food is authentic. Guys working the front are quick, efficient and friendly.

I come to Southfield quarterly for a week. In 5 days I eat here at least 8x and buy food for my whole office. I’m Lebanese and can tell you this is as authentic as it gets. While it’s not fancy it is great Arab soul food and their flavor a aren’t Americanized. Ensure you get the side of baba and garlic spread.

Good food and one of the very few places that deliver. Can be a lil expensive but if you like quality then that should not be an issue.

I absolutely love this place! I previously lived in Dearborn for over 4 years, so I am somewhat of an Arabic food snob after being spoiled with so many delicious Arabic restaurants in the Dearborn area. This is by far the best place I’ve experienced outside of Dearborn. It is incredibly authentic! I’ve loved every single item I’ve tried. The seasoning and flavors are spot on. I cannot stand it when Arabic restaurants ruin my meal by going wild with different spices than what I’m used to. I strongly recommend the chicken shawarma sandwich or dinner, fattoush salad, lentil soup, and hummus. I love ordering all of those items for my wife and I every time I come here for carry out, so we have leftovers and can enjoy it the next day! The staff is amazingly friendly every single time I’ve been here. The food comes out pretty fast too! I refuse to go anywhere besides this place for Arabic food outside of the Dearborn area. You must try this place! I promise it will be a new favorite!

This is definitely an express location. It has a complicated menu that takes you a while to figure out. But stick with it, it’s worth it. There’s an old guy with a comb over. Like soup nazi. Barking. But funny. Probably the owner. The food is quality. I’ve tried the kebabs, the chicken shwarma, and the kafta. The chicken shwarma is chopped grilled chicken breast rather than from a traditional rotary thing. The kafta and kebabs are a correct doneness level, which can be off in some places. This is a great place for lunch but even better for dinner since it’s not as crowded as the lunch crowd.

After a disappointing encounter at what was suppose to be m favorite franchise of all time, I was looking for something that I don’t usually see back at Kansas City. Not long until I encountered this place. It was a small, janky even, joint from the outside, but I am a fan of throwing myself out there in attempt to discover hidden gems of towns. I confirmed my suspicion that this place is worthy of my investment of time through Unilocal, and off I went! Truly, you cannot judge a book by its cover. And here once more, another prime example. Inside was well decorated, luxurious even. I quickly asked for recommendation, like I always do when I visit a restaurant for the first time. The Shish Kabob was cooked on point. The meat was not too dry, but prepared long enough for the meat to have the char-grilled taste. The vegetables that are used to accompany the main star of the kabob played its role of side characters perfectly by balancing out the heavy materials with delightful sweetness. Honestly, this place saved my visit to Southfield, MI. Would come back again if I am ever in the area.

It seems like they are overly generous with the salt, which is something I do not like at all. I still would’ve given them at least a 3 but to me, this place is a health code violation waiting to happen. I almost wonder if they themselves use their own bathrooms.

I think they have to think what costumer is. Also they have to know menu. I do not like casher make mistake but sound like customer make mistake! Study menu! Food is just ok for me. Rice was soggy not fluffy. I order was different inside what menu said!

Love this place! Their chicken shawarma and fattoush salad are my favorite but they also have good rice, falafel sandwich, greek salad(same dressing as fattoush), hummus, garlic… I really don’t think you can go wrong here. This garlic sauce should come with a warning label though — don’t plan on eating it if you’re on a date or going to a meeting after. I love it, but its lethal to my breath and manages to seep thru my pores. It’s a fast paced ordering process during lunchtime — they’re usually always packed and understandably so. The guys are always willing to answer questions about the menu and able to customize the food in order to meet your dietary preference.

I wasn’t too impressed with this location — man was it busy(too busy). The food was great but the customer service can use a little adjustment. The person upfront kept said«who’s next… who’s next» and seemed like they were in a rush; since it was my first time there I don’t think its a good method to do. What happen if i wanted to try something new and had some questions(I dont know). Inside seating is available if it isn’t too crowded — because people are waiting for their numbers to be called or just having lunch or dinner there. I did notice an employee was coming around pushing in the tables and making sure it was clear for someone else.(Great job!) Last but not least — this place is little higher then normal but i believe this is only type of place out here; so they can demand any price they would like. So all and all — i had better but it would do if i was in the area. Happy Eating!!!

Good food. Good timing. Easy, low stress place. Short review just means it’s all good, nothing really awesome or bad to say about it. Although this is where I blew my friend’s mind by letting her know that middle eastern food is not available as readily everywhere in the US as it is here. KABOOM.

Great food, terrible customer service, awful communication. I waited 20 minutes for my food even though I called ahead and gave them 10 minutes to prepare it. I have been to this restaurant many times over the last several years and usually it is a good experience, but today was not a good experience. I called in a pick-up order of Zesty Chicken Gallabha with a side salad and a mango smoothie. I walked right up and paid for my food and gave them a $ 2 tip, so my total was about $ 22. The food was outstanding as usual, but I sat in the waiting area for way too long(20 minutes). I watched others get their orders-people who placed their orders and walked out with them while I was sitting there waiting and soon one of the workers asked me, «How’s it going sir? To which I replied, «It’s good, man, I’m just waiting on my Chicken Gallabha.» He said, «Oh, it should just be another minute.» He walked to the back and then I noticed five young men filling small containers full of garlic-not even realizing how long I had been waiting. So I got up and said, «Hey you guys, how much longer is this gonna take?» They all looked at me and then looked at each other confused. One of them took ownership and said, «What did you have?» I told him my order and he asked, «Was it a call-in?» To which I said, «Yes.» He said, «Oh, it’s been ready for awhile now.» The food was sitting in the pick-up area, which was out of my sight and no one bothered to tell me. He apologized and made sure I got my food and my smoothie. They most definitely did not deserve a $ 2 tip and there is obviously some issues with communication. The guy that checked on me could have at least checked to see if the food was ready, which it was-NOT OKAY! If you go here, make sure you stay on the workers butts so that they know where you are and what you ordered, because apparently they do not communicate well.

I like to avoid boring food at lunch when I have the chance. Shish Kabob Express whips up Middle Eastern food on the go, and they do their best work on dreary days that drag by. Nothing perks me up and revs me to go like their succulent chicken shwarma, a blend of spices and fresh, savory morsels that sing together in a fluffy bread blanket. A bit of sweet, creamy hummus or a tabbouleh salad banish the worst demons of a dull meeting, and take the bad aftertaste of a hard project right away. The restaurant suffers from its prime location in Southfield at the 12 Mile and Telegraph intersection. Parking and squeezing in among the other hectic drivers converging on Meijer, Starbucks, Denny’s, Bagel Factory, and Five Guys takes herculean fortitude and a willingness to smash doors and side mirrors. People throng inside and line ups get hectic, though they allow for orders taken by phone. I wish they had a website capable of doing the same. The food is *good*, rich and filling, but pretty inexpensive. Vegan offerings are fairly extensive and best of all, everything comes out fresh! None of that premade slop tossed on a dry pita and called a sandwich here. The smoothies look tasty but I get them but rarely. Service is hit or miss. Sometimes you get someone who can smile and others, you have someone staring at you with a flinty look until you bark out an order. Read the menu in advance, know what you want, and don’t delay. The office workers behind you may kill you if you don’t hurry.

Everything has a time and place, and that is exactly why Shish Kabob Express is so amazing. There are quite a few small Lebanese restaurants around town with service fast enough to get your lunch in an hour, but from a quicker service restaurant standpoint, this one wins. For the 10 years I’ve been eating sweet potato fries here, the quality has always been great. The service behind the counter(yes, it’s a counter order joint) is hit or miss, but there have been some guys that I liked so much I made it a point to go get my food for carry out just to say hi every few months. My favorites? Chicken Ghallaba(call ahead for carry out, get the dinner and share it with a good friend/coworker — it’s just better that way). The Chicken Shawarma Sandwiches are great and so is their house salad. I don’t love their hummous. But it’s just because I want it to have more lemon. Another favorite of mine is the carrot juice, made fresh just for you. Just try not to spill it all over your brand new car. They have lunch combos so you get your fill of food for a reasonable price and a few tables if you want to eat in, but get ready to wait in a long line. I also would not recommend the Baklava, it’s kind of hit or miss, if someone else finds someone different, let me know! Lastly, if you like garlic, don’t ever forget the extra garlic sauce! It’s from heaven. Your significant other may not think so by the time you get home though…
