Pizza Stop

On vacation for a week from Ohio (Go Cavs) I was eating plenty of seafood, burgers and barbecue but was missing some pizza, good ol Unilocal came through again, very good pizza and great service!

The service was not good. Pizza was so so. The worst thing however, that they sell 2 liter soft drinks but they don’t have cups. They have plenty of tables to eat in. When I ask the manager how can we drink as a family without the cups. Her response was Sorry? I told her she she could have bought a dozen of them from the Dollar store. I will never come back.

I was expecting your basic beach pizza that is geared toward the masses and just tries to mimic te major chains. Pizza stop is far from that. It’s NY style and the crust is fantastic.
The staff was quick and efficient and very friendly. Considering it’s Late august in the OBX, that is not always the case when it comes to service at a beach place at the end of te season.
Hope the open one in Avon next year!

This is the best pizza place on the beach. The ingredients are fresh, the sauce is spiced perfectly, and the crust is crispy. Everyone knows what makes good pizza is the crust.
When you walk in, the smell of the freshly made pies wafts through the air and fills your nostrils. If your lucky enough to get there when they have their Garlic Knots, scoop them up quickly!
The staff is always friendly, and the place is spotless.
As a local, I have been to just about every pizza place down here, and this is hands down the best.

We really enjoyed our plain pizza and pinball while we waited for it to arrive. Definitely a worthwhile stop!

Maybe it’s because we went on a Saturday during a thunderstorm, and all the «incoming» were grabbing a ‘za instead of barbecuing, but we saw plenty of locals greeted by name. In any event, we were told at the counter it was the busiest day they have head all year.
That might explain why they were out of Margherita pizza (ostensibly it would be the fresh mozzarella.) I ordered a plain to substitute for the wife and daughter. For the son and myself I ordered a half meatball/​half pepperoni. There was some question going on between the counter, and kitchen as to whether THAT could be filled, but then I was assured it could be.
Both pizzas arrived, but with the pepperoni missing from the boys’ pie. I pointed it out to the server (who was the same teen who took my order. He mumbled something incoherent (not an apology) and walked away. We had paid (and tipped) in advance. Something I now regret.
We are from Philly (and have eaten Philly/​NJ/​NY pizzas all our lives.) After reading all the reviews we though we were in for something special. The crust was thin, but not at all crispy (as though it had steamed, but it was hot out of the oven.) Sauce had no discernible spice other than garlic (fresh, but a bit overpowering.) The cheese was pretty standard pizza-​shop mozz. Not bad, but certainly pretty pedestrian. vdi

We ordered pizza from here. Came relatively fast. Delivery was free to the vacation rental we were in. The pizza was okay. Middle of the road in terms of pizza. I doubt I would order from them again. For the price, we expected better quality pizza.

Pizza is passable, but not great. Delivery is a plus. Glad I went with the extra cheese as it would have been a little thin without it.

Yeah, this is the best pizza in the area. We ordered it on the first day of our trip and the 20 people with us agreed. Thin crispy crust, sauce that isn’t sweet or too herb-​y, cheese that was melted and not waxy. We tried to order again Tuesday, they were closed.

We stopped here on the way to Duck and had a wonderful experience. We tried the white pizza and the eggplant parmesan hoagie. So good! My husband and I are both from the northeast states, so we know and love good pizza. The owners are also very friendly, the place is nice and clean, and the food is delicious.

Ordered 9 pizzas. Was very tasty. Good service.

The only authentic Italian-​style pizza I have found on the OBX. I can’t stand Greek pizza places… everything is off with the crust, the cheese, the ingredients, etc. I am from New England and used to authentic Italian pizzerias. This is the only one we have found that fits the bill — from Nags Head to Corolla. The pizza is crisp, hot, and fresh. Prices are great. A lot of locals pick up pizzas here on their way home from work, too. I highly recommend it. They also use some organic ingredients, which is a plus.

big fan of this place. The pizza is new york style and wonderful. friendly owners great service great food nothing bad about this place. I don’t pass up the pizza very often but the sandwiches are also good. this place might be a little hard to find ur get to but it’s worth the trip. located next to the southern shores police department swinging to get a pizza by the slice you get 2 slices and a drink for 5 dollars for lunch great deal.

Pizza was delicious. Calzone was good too. Everything seemed very fresh and crispy. Delivery time was prompt. Will definitely order from here again.

Good pizza that can be delivered if desired, and unlike most OBX restaurants, this one is open until 2am (for the summer at least). Most OBX restaurants close at 9pm.

This place has some damn good pizza! Everything was so fresh and delicious, it beats more than half of the places I use to go when I lived in NY!

My husband and I had the white pizza and the cheese pizza. The sauce on the cheese pizza was fresh tasting, the cheese wasnt overpowering but was of good quality and the crust had a nice char and chewyness. The white pizza had fresh ricotta (made in house?), organic tomatoes, spinach, garlic and mozzarella cheese w a garlic/​evooo sauce. Also very good. They also do pizza by the slice and have an amazing bbq chicken pizza. A must stop in the OBX… mmmmmm

Very good pizza. Excellent crust. Friendly service. Get a made-​to-​order pie. I was a little turned off by the flies buzzing around the already made pies used for individual slice orders. Nice beer selection.

When you’re at the beach, and you don’t want to go out and spend a fortune on a big restaurant trip, I don’t think you can go wrong with this place. I’m always down for some quality home made pizza from a local business.
