Southampton’s U Take the Cake Bread & Pastry Shop

U Take the Cake turns out some handsome cookies and cakes, to be sure. Recognizing that Kashrut rules may constrain a baker, it, nevertheless, really would be great if UTTC could ratchet back on the sweetness factor. I have generally found the offerings to be treacly. For eye-​appeal, U Take the Cake wins the area Kosher bake-​off; for taste, Hutchinson’s Classic Bakery is superior (especially the Hamentaschen). Additionally, this is a cash-​only operation (or at least it was the last time I was there), which is a nuisance.

I had U Take the Cake make a variety of cakes for my wedding after party. They did a sheet cake for 200 with a personalized topping of island palms, ocean sunset etc. it was awesome —
They also did a variety of smaller different favored cakes such as chocolate cake with peanut buttter frosting, chocolate raspberry, and chocolate and vanilla — it was OUTSTANDING!
My guests could not stop talking about them! — I HIGHly recommend this bakery.

Popped in to pick up some pareve goodies to take to a Seder dinner on a recommendation from a friend.
Bought a cake that was the most decadent kosher pareve dessert I’ve ever had (actually, I don’t think one can often describe pareve desserts as decadent at all!)
Also got some mandel (have made that myself, following a recipe that obviously creates something not ‘kosher’ in the sense of kitchen prep, but was exact for ingredients and was far tastier.)
The prices were high, but the cake was a wonderful addition to our celebration, and so rich that smaller servings went very far anyway.
No idea how their day to day baked goods are — but like I said, you make a tasty pareve dessert, you’ve GOT to be good!
