Food is fantastic! Nice chitchat while you waiting. Beer down the strip at big heads.

This is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life. To the girl who said she’s from New York and compared this place to Chinese places in New York: you’ve got to be kidding me!!! First of all, the food had ZERO flavor. It was not spicy, not salty, not seasoned whatsoever. Besides that, the vegetables were so mushy that they fell to pieces. They had obviously been sitting around for many, many hours. Pure mush. The lo mein was vastly under-seasoned and over-cooked. Worst of all, the food was all swimming in oily, flavorless sauce. The only flavor the food had was that the fried tofu tasted like rancid oil and was rubbery as can be. The entire meal was absolutely disgusting. We ended up throwing most of it away. Yes, it was extremely cheap, thus proving the old saying«you get what you pay for.» I am honestly shocked at the good reviews for this place. It was absolutely awful.

The sweetest people you will ever meet! The lady was so nice she gave us a couple crab rangoons(?? I may have spelled that wrong) free to try out and our dishes came with so much for so cheap! The food quality is average but the service, and cost make up for that completely. Again when you go be ready to be met with enthusiasm and kindness as the lady is the sweetest thing ever! Definitely try out their chicken dishes and steamed dumplings! They’re the absolute best!

Ordered two more times since my first visit. Staff were still nice, but I was sorely disappointed both times by greasy dishes that lacked seasoning. I’m not sure if its the specific dishes I ordered(both were lunch specials), but I’m sad to say I don’t think I’ll be back.

We stopped in to grab some food to go around noon on a weekday. We were the only people there. The interior looks old and is on the smaller side, but the front counter is very decorated. The woman who took our order was very friendly and talkative. We ordered three lunch specials, each with a choice of white rice, fried rice, or brown rice(for an additional 50 cents). We got chicken and broccoli, chicken and mixed vegetables, and bean curd with mixed vegetables. We had a choice of fried or not for the bean curd, which I thought was nice. After a reasonable wait, our food was packed into a Welch’s grape juice box and we were good to go. The prices were pretty low, but the food reflected that. Each box was half-packed with rice, and the other half had much less of the actual dish. I opened my box of chicken and broccoli and was immediately put off by the amount of sauce(especially because broccoli florets tend to absorb it). I ended up using the rice as a place to wipe off excess sauce and barely touched it. This really would have been a two-star rating except for one thing: their ingredients tasted fresh. Once you got past the sauce, the chicken tasted like chicken, and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. Overall, just another Americanized Chinese food joint, but with a larger emphasis on healthy and fresh foods.

Having grownup in NYC where there are amazing places to eat just about everywhere, I can say that this neighborhood place is one of the best suburban Chinese places you can find. The food is fresh, ample and interesting. My only complaint is that is often not spicy enough, but Lisa, when I recently told her that, gave me a small container of the hot sauce they use in cooking(which is the one I use as well). Talk about service! And the kindness… they are all so kind and so eager to make sure you are happy and filled. I took my small family here after my mom’s funeral and Lisa bent over backwards to make sure we were happy, and stuffed to the gills. Even their take out orders always have an interesting wonton filled with a curried potato, reminiscent of Indian food. So good, and again, so customer-oriented. Do you know any other place that takes care of you this way? I know of so few. Try it, you will like it. And try some of the dishes folks often don’t think about, like ho fun(rice) noodles, Manchurian beef, black bean lamb, twice cooked pork and their wonderful hot and sour soup!

had dinner here with my husband the first time. We decided to go out for Chinese and in our neighborhood we could not find a good chinese restaurant. Found it through Waze and we will definitely come back. Fantastic, freshly made Chinese Food. Very tasty. The owner are very attentive, friendly and help decide what to eat.

I have been eating with Lisa, the owner, of peng yuan for almost 20 years. They do a great job with Americn Chinese food. Try to get their specials as you will not be disappointed.

Peng Yuan is a staple in the Holland, PA area. It’s been here for ages and everyone knows it. The food is always tasty and never disappoints. The owners are also lovely people and whenever I go there to eat I always end up getting a little bit extra compliments of the chef. Peng Yuan is far from fancy but it’s comfortable and that’s just the kind of place it is. Most of their dishes are good but I really recommend trying their potato dumpling appetizer!

I’ve been going to this place for the last 10 years or so and never have been disappointed yet. I mostly do take out, but I have sat inside a number of times. It is a really small place. The prices are very reasonable. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend this place over any other Chinese food in the area. They can’t be beat!

Peng Yuan is a Hong Kong style cuisine restaurant located in the strip mall at 295 Buck Road. It is in the same complex as Wild Wasabi and Ultimate Pizza, so this is a good place to head for some grub(See subsequent review of Ultimate Pizza, which received 1 star). The floor plan of the dining area is small, with only 28 seats, plus a few for waiting for takeout. The space could use a face lift, but it is clean, without feeling overcrowded. Their luncheon menu is what you expect, but while I waited, Lisa, the owner, brought out a few gratis appetizers that were as good as they were unexpected. They consisted of triangles of fried dough pockets with mashed potato and spice in one, and a soft cheese in the other. Both were reminiscent of samosas. I sampled the General Tso’s Chicken, which was large chunks all white meat, lightly coated, then flash fried in a wok, with a tangy thick tart sauce. Nice effort. Additionally, the fried rice was plentiful and tasty. Best was the hot and sour soup, which came out steaming, and full of pork, tofu, mushrooms and way better than average broth. Most important for me, no MSG. This was my first bite at Peng Yuan, and I will return for a second. I need to try more to be able to count more stars. Bottom Line — A very decent place for lunch, maybe dinner.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in. It is a tiny place. However it is not overpriced and the food came out piping hot and was good. Seemed a little slow at preparing the food, but the servers were nice, attentive, and even gave us some free appetizers for the wait.
