The highest priority of Suffolk Cognitive-Behavioral, PLLC; is to improve the quality of life of individuals and families suffering from psychological difficulties (Anxiety, Phobias, OCD, Social Anxiety, Depression, Relationship Problems, etc). We encourage our patients not to avoid times of challenge and distress but to utilize them as opportunities for re-prioritizing, transformation and personal growth. We are committed to helping each of our patients to identify what a purposeful life means to them and to mutually working through whatever obstacles may interfere with living that life. The center will continually incorporate the most up to date research and training in order to offer state-of-the-art «third generation» cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition to treating the patients of Long Island and Brooklyn, Suffolk Cognitive-Behavioral is also committed to teaching and supervising interested professionals who seek to develop cognitive-behavioral skills.

3) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Essentially an integration of both cognitive and behavioral therapies. One of the most highly recommended and scientifically proven combinations of the modern therapies mentioned above. It is a generic term used to refer to a broad, non-specific combination of behavior therapy and cognitive type therapies. When used loosely, the term CBT is sometimes used interchangeably (though mistakenly) with the term «cognitive therapy» (CT), and while the two share may share many similarities, technically CT refers to a more specific brand of CBT. Technically CT emphasizes a more thought focused set of interventions, based on model espoused by Aaron Beck, MD. Dr. Beck along with the other CBT founding father, Albert Ellis, PhD, are both acknowledged as revolutionizing what the world now considers to be talk therapy. Mark Sisti, PhD is the founder and director of Suffolk Cognitive-Behavioral, PLLC, where he supervises and trains students and professionals in the NY area. He is also an adjunct clinical supervisor at Yeshiva-Ferkauf University as well as a founding fellow, diplomate & certified trainer, within The Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He is also the president of LI-CBT (a L.I. based clinician based networking group).
He has presented symposiums at the American Psychiatric Association and to the American Psychological Association. He has presented on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Therapy (FAP) at Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) World Conferences. He is president of the Greater NY chapter (NYC-ACBS) of ACBS (Association of Contextual Behavioral Science) as well as chair of ACBS’s Chapter & SIG committee.
