I went to Mission Dental health (where Dr. Mendez previously worked) since I was a child in the 90’s. NOBODY had every given my teeth this kind of attention to detail, until Dr. Mendez came along. Dr. Mendez is one of those golden gems of a Dr. Her positive personality radiates through the office, and even more importantly it reflects on the great quality of her work. I am so glad she has her own office now. I directed my whole family to transfer over to her office.

Dr. Mendez replaced Dr. Dean De Renieri who passed away. I have very sensitive teeth and have had many horrible dental experiences. Dr. Mendez was very gentle and thorough with both her exam and the crown replacement I needed. She made sure I was comfortable, told me everything she was doing as she did it, and she absolutely knows what she is doing. The staff– receptionist, assistant, and hygienist, are very kind and skilled. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for high quality dentistry.

By far Dr. Mendez is the best! My 11 yr old daughter needed two teeth extracted for ortho work. Of course, my dental insurance did not cover but thanks to her excellent staff Esmeralda, Nancy and Dr. Mendez for working with us. She was honest and provided an excellent job than any oral surgeon would have done. Honesty and great service and for less the cost-​where can you find that? My daughter’s is doing well and suffered little pain. Thanks again it’s so nice to know we have a great dentist is town!

Brilliant! I have seen a lot of dentists in my life and Dr. Mendez is by far the best. She’s careful, respectful, gentle, and always listens to your concerns. As long as I’m in the bay area, I’ll make the commute from Berkeley to South San Francisco because I’m always 100% satisfied with her care and she makes me feel at home and relaxed whenever I need anything attended to. I’ve been going to see Sonia for 6+ years now. She used to be in the Mission and in the city, but I’ve never found a dentist I liked so much that I followed her to South San Francisco when she opened up her own practice.
She’s very thoughtful, gentle, kind, friendly and probably cares way more about your teeth than you ever will. Exactly everything you want in a dentist — she puts you at ease and has great bedside manner.
She’ll discuss options, treatment, and explain things to you so you always know what’s happening. Her staff is ace as well. If you’re looking for a dentist that can put you at ease, genuinely cares, and leaves you feeling good after, Dr. Mendez is the person you’re looking for.

I just had the best dental experience of my life with Dr. Mendez. She is first of all amazing at her skill. while she was working all I felt was enjoyment. I changed my mind and asked her for no anesthesia and she was fine with it! she worked so gently and so efficiently I forgot I was at the dentist! Aside from her clearly exceptional dental skills, she is so down to earth, genuine and the best kind of person to be around. She listens very well and is funny too! Dr. Mendez is the best doctor I’ve ever been to in my entire life. I can’t wait to go back and have my crown done, I’m actually really looking forward to it!

I found her on Unilocal in 2011 and was skeptical of her stellar reviews at first, moreover I didn’t realize that the office she works for is not on the preferred provider list of my insurance plan. However, she was well worth the co-​payments.
I needed to get a crown on a tooth where a root canal was done before (by another dentist). Dr. Mendez carefully did all the preparatory work, put on a temporary crown and ordered a mold for me on my first visit.
***When my temporary crown released itself three days before my scheduled appointment, I called in and Dr. Mendez fit me in the next day!***
During my second appointment, Dr. Mendez honored my request for very minimal anesthesia (because I don’t like the feeling of numbness in my mouth). So I went in prepared to feel some pain but to my surprise Dr. Mendez’s work is so gentle that the crown work actually felt as comfortable as the cleaning!
Before writing my review, I wanted to wait for a little bit to see if the crown gives me any trouble, but between the winter vacation, work etc, I let it go without a review for six months!!! I’m glad I did though, because even today I have no complaints whatsoever.
