Business Owner

Charles Wang graduated with honors from UC Berkeley. He studied cello with the late Xiao Fang Lu in San Francisco and from Barbara Andres of the San Francisco Symphony. Mr. Wang is a former member of the prestigious San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and toured Russia, Luthuania and Ireland with the orchestra. Mr. wang is a very patient teacher and always does his best to help his students improve with every lesson he has with them. Many of his students (elementary to high school students to working adults) start with knowing almost nothing about playing the cello, but after several lessons they are able to play songs with great tone and confidence. In addition to teaching, Mr. Wang is also a very active performer. He has entertained senators and politicians and also performs at weddings, grand openings and many other public and private events. He was featured on television on the KTSFchannel in 2010 performing music from movies and jazz classics on the cello.

So excited that we hired Charles to play at our wedding ceremony at House Family Vineyards (10−12−14). He was very professional and I loved that he played Top 40 on the cello during our wine reception hour. This was perfect and added a nice upbeat ambiance that night. The ceremony music was just beautiful and he made our wedding day very special. I would definitely hire him again :) Thanks Charles!!!

Last year, my family hosted a baby shower to celebrate an upcoming birth of a child. With many young children also attending the event, we wanted to expose them not only to just good food, conversation, and general family fun — but to also hear beautiful music that they could be inspired by. We wanted them to have a chance to meet a musician, to be able to ask them questions, and to observe melodies being played up close. Charles Wang was the first to come to our minds. Charles is an engineer by profession, but he is also a gifted musician — and much more importantly, a kind individual. These traits come through by the way he translates each musical piece with his cello. We had fun by incorporating his music into the family games, but mostly, it was his Bach Cello Suites that delighted the entire room. Many a teary eyes were spotted… Whether you are looking for a talented and passionate cellist for a special event or for lessons — Charles is the gentleman to reach out to.

I am so happy I found Charles to teach my daughter, Angel, to play the cello! Charles is very warm, professional, well-​prepared and friendly. He is always thorough in his lessons and has well thought out assignments for Angel. He is excited when she is doing well and compliments her. When she has a hard day, he is very encouraging and warm. He has become part of the family and supports Angel even in her other activities.
Charles is a passionate cello player. He plays at numerous events around the Bay Area and releases cello numbers on YouTube. I recommend Charles highly to anyone interested in learning to play the cello.
