We originally contracted with renato from American heating to replace the ~50 year old furnace in our rental. We went over several options with him and chose an appropriate one based on cost and efficiency for a rental. The price he charged for the switch over seemed reasonable. The install appears to be fine, but I think the thermal wrap (the aluminum foil/​foam outer jacket) could have been wrapped a bit tighter and with better aesthetics.
The problem starts several months later when we contacted renato to show me the location of the filter and help switch it out for our future reference. He agrees to meet me in the morning on a Friday.. Now, I don’t live in the Bay Area and thus I do not go out there to take care of rental business often. On this particular day, I also had my 3 year old son with me. What I thought was a 15 minute job never even materialized. He never showed up and never called. An hour later I call him and he says he left my number at his job site. I find it hard to believe since I called his cell phone! I waited an hour with my son. Ridiculous.
So I reschedule with him and he apologizes and we set up for the next day Saturday in the late morning. Well guess what? He never showed up and he never called on the second day either. I call and leave a message but did not get a reply. Really renato? What is going on with you? Do you need to hire another employee?
So fast forward three weeks and I decide to give him one more chance as he was very nice over the phone. I called and got a hold of him and scheduled him to meet my tenants on a Wednesday afternoon. Well today was Wednesday and it came and went, and once again he did not show up. Again no call, no warning. Just did not show up at all. I feel like I’ve given him and his company a fair shake and three times is too much. I’ve had it with this guy and Im tired of calling him persistently like a jilted lover.
He may be responsive when doing a big job like a furnace install but when it comes to the little things that keep a customer loyal, renato just doesn’t get it. Hell, if I ever need warranty service, how can I depend on this guy when he wont even show up (or CALL) to swap a simple filter.
Update 10÷31÷15:
I ended up calling another company to service my furnace and they discover that no filter was ever installed when American heating put in the furnace, and that the insulation on the furnace was not wrapped tightly enough and was falling off and needed to be redone. It should have been a routine install from the beginning, and a simple item like the furnace filter should not have been omitted. Very disappointed indeed.

Renato installed a new furnace and tankless water heater in my new home, as well as all new ductwork. I am very happy with the work that was done, and the cost was very reasonable. Renato was extremely friendly and very easy to work with. He was also always on time and extremely professional. I would recommend his services to anyone looking to have hvac work done in their home.

Where to start? We’ll let me say, Renato was on time, on budget (great price!), left site clean, was thorough, responsive, friendly and did not tire of answering my questions. In addition, he did the whole project in under a week
Renato and his team is all of the above and more. Tore out our original 60+ year old floor heater and replaced with new furnace, installed ducts and registers. Even found a place for a register in the bathroom, which I had been told was impossible. Our house finally is warm throughout. Passed city inspection first time through.

Renato is a very professional contractor that cares about his customers. He installed a new central heating system in my house (replacing the 70 year old gas furnace). He inspected my tank less water heater and fixed the shoddy job a previous contractor did without charging me an extra fee! Very nice and easy to talk to, he explained everything to us before he started. His crew did not leave a speck of dust when the job was done. I would recommend American Heating Systems to anyone needing a new furnace or repair.

Renato just completed a smaller job of replacing two bad duct lines in the *very* tight crawlspace of our house. We were very happy with him: he was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable, did the work while being very careful to not make a mess. Thanks Renato!

I had to get a broken furnace fixed. The PG&E guy had already checked and referred me to the dealer to get the gas valve replaced. I called American Heating Systems & A/​C since they were listed as dealers. I got an appointment for the next day. One of their service men (whom I will leave unnamed) came over, checked the furnace and said the PG&E guy was wrong. It was not the gas valve. I was a diaphragm that was not working. He said he would be back with the part the next day. The next day he called and said he did not get the part. He promised to come over the next day. I had to leave work early to make sure I would be home when he arrived. Just 30 minutes prior to the appointment I receive a call from a female stating that she would like to cancel and probably reschedule the appointment.
I had to call a local guy. He came over the next day and replaced the GAS VALVE, and it has been working fine ever since.

We wanted to replace a 50-​year-​old floor heating unit with a central heating system. It was a pretty big job that required lots of planning as well as running new ducts through to each room in the house, cutting out new registers, moving the return air opening, installation of the new heating unit, removal of the old unit, etc. Our house is very small and we knew it would be pretty difficult to get the ducting around the electrical wiring and the plumbing and get the registers positioned exactly where we wanted them. One guy we spoke to before Renato told us he wouldn’t even be able to put any registers into our living room and our nook area because of the way the house was constructed. Then Renato came to give us an estimate. He explained to us that it is possible to put registers in every room and even explained in detail how it could be done. Right off the bat, Renato was very knowledgeable and professional and gave great expert advice recommending only the best HVAC systems out there. His estimate was also 30% less than that of the previous guy.
Renato was completely done with the job in five days and this included the time he took to carefully plan everything out with us as well as final touch ups and the city’s inspection. Renato and his crew took their time to make sure that every component of the system was installed according to standards. They even vacuumed everywhere, used boot covers and mopped the garage floor, leaving everything cleaner than it was before they started. It’s very rare to find contractors who are whiling to take the time and make sure every detail is right as if they are working on their own house. With Renato, this project went smoothly and was completely stress-​free. We will be recommending American Heating Systems & Air Conditioning to all our family members and friends.
