Advanced Smog Test Only

My second time at this spot, same dude helped me out, in and out in under 10 minutes around lunchtime, smog passed, complete with registration and sticker! Eric is a cool dude, very knowledgable. Make sure you have your DMV registration notice when you show up. So if you are up for your smog test and wanna get your registration sticker right away, this is the spot.

I went to do smog here, the manager with long hair and tattoos al over his arms was not friendly, overcharged me with $ 80(the most expensive smog I ever paid for) before provide with any services, waited about hour and hour .I ask him to cancel the service he simply ignored me… than he finally come and said your smog has failed we could not read the monitors on your car and he won’t refund me my $ 80, so I just took my car to an other smog shop near by, they smoged for $ 58 in less in 10 minutes with smile and great service, I went back to Eric or whatever that manger name requesting my refund since the car past the smog, he denied the refund in rude way and won’t provide any receipts or papers work .
The worst service period!

Eric @ Advanced Smog Test was recommended to me by a friend, I came in and Eric had room for me.
The process took literally 15 minutes hassle free, I gave him my paperwork, He Smog Test ed my car, it passed.
He offers a service to register the car directly with the DMV from the shop itself so I didnt have to waste a whole day at the Dmv for registration after completing Smog.
Eric is a lifesaver and I recommend him to anyone and everyone.
You will not be disappointed.

The only place to take your car for smog (and registration!). Eric is super helpful and has gone out of his way several times to take care of what I need quickly. The DMV line has been out the door recently but it’s no worry with this shop! I’ve had the standard smog check done here at least three times and recently they have now become my go-​to for registration services as well. I guess I buy/​sell cars more regularly than most people so having this shop nearby has definitely come in handy! Can’t recommend them enough.

I called around a couple places to see who could smog test a 2009 BMW. Turns out the other places I tried first didn’t have the equipment to either test a newer car or to test a BMW. I checked Unilocal and saw that Advanced Smog Test Only had great reviews so I called to see if they could smog test my car: they could! I brought the car in and Eric and Michael were able to get my car tested in no time. They were great to chat with and even offered to handle the registration for me so I wouldn’t have to go to the DMV and wait an hour in line. I’d recommend Advanced Smog Test Only to anybody who needs to get a smog test done on their car.

I went in to get a STAR certified smog test. Finding the place was not hard, but parking was. It’s very difficult to find a spot to park your car if the garage is occupied. That’s normal for this area, though.
I was greeted warmly and given an accurate time estimate. The young man, apparently the owner, was very polite and welcoming.
Their prices seem to have changed from other reviewers. The cost for vehicles made after 1995 is $ 60, but they charge almost $ 10 for the smog certificate and another $ 10 if the certificate has to be done at a STAR testing center. Mention Unilocal and get $ 10 off, for a total of $ 70. This appears to be average for the bay area, though there are definitely better deals if you shop around. I didn’t because I was in a hurry and I was already there.
They got my car done in 15 minutes and sent me on my way. They were very efficient. I also liked that their waiting area was in the garage itself. It was loud, but I got to watch them running the test.
I was a little bit annoyed that they said my car passed just fine, when in reality it had barely passed. My HC numbers are maxed out. This means I will have to get my car smogged yearly until the problem is fixed. It also means there is something wrong with my car, since these values were better the last time I was smogged. It would have been nice if the guy had told me that, but I guess that would be going above and beyond for a smog only center.
Advanced Smog got the smog test done quickly and for an average price. They were friendly, but not especially knowledgeable or helpful. Also, they now take credit cards (except American Express). I would go there again, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to do so.

Went to get a work truck smog tested. I asked the man, how long will it take before I am next. He said that it would be 30 minutes. Since there was lack of parking around the other places, I decided that was fine. Waited for 40 minutes. The other guy in front of me left. I walked in and asked how much longer? He said his machine has been having trouble re-​calibrating for two hours. I stated he should have told me that when I asked how long, so I didn’t waste 40 minutes and asked politely, but slightly pissed, for my paper back. As I was leaving I said «have a nice day» and“hope you get your equipment worked out.” Then he responded with something I don’t wish put on this public site, but it was very offensive and involved me flicking him off as I left.

Eric and Carlos got the job done in flying colors! Their customer first approach leaves a very positive impression to the customer. I highly recommend going to these guys and getting your smog done. All but good things to say to these guys. Kudos!

DMV gives their notice for renewal months in advance but for some reason I always do things last minute.
So on the 11^th hour, I go online to renew and lo and behold, I need a smog certificate to be able to do so. It was a Friday, it’s 3 pm. I had to do to it now… and did I mention I’m leaving the country? I know I know… I manage my time well.
Anyways, I quickly called my mechanic for suggestions. The 76 he suggested was already closed. I Unilocaled away… I found Advanced Smog Test Only and got there with 10 minutes to spare. And it was next door to my mechanic hahaha.
The guy was intense. I was trying to make conversation and laugh at my own stupid jokes but he won’t budge. He’s probably tired or just don’t like me (He’s tired. Who doesn’t like me? lol). He later said that he’s the owner (I asked. I’m nosy, one of my best traits hahaha). But guess what, he did it. For an additional fee he also took care of my registration for me. I paid, got my sticker and was out of there. Everything worked out just fine.

If you own a business I believe the people you hire should work for you and not tell you what cars they will or will not work on. dont waste my time, get someone who wants to work for you. Waited one hour to find out the tech. didnt like my car.

First customer of the day and the guys were very friendly. They notified me that there might be a wait to get my smog completed due to their needing to calibrate their equipment for the day. That was nice, at least i wasn’t left in the dark wondering why a 30 minute smog will take longer than that.

Great prices for a smog check. Most nearby places wanted $ 20 more. The guy was super nice and I was in and out within 20 mins.

Yes, the guy was so nice and tried so hard… But the engine reader was melted and completely didn’t work — after sitting for an hour as he struggled trying to get it to work, I finally told him I had to leave. If your only business is smog tests, the owner should spend the couple hundred to get a new piece of equipment that reliably works as soon as it’s broken! And if it’s not working, let your customer know so she doesn’t waste an hour of her time. Or at least offer to comp her next one whenever you get the new equipment!

I am going there now so far i talked to someone over there and he is very friendly and very informative. I will write more later when i get back.
I just got back from advanced smog… the guy was busy and could not help me, he asked for me to come back at 2pm which i cannot do, i told the guy i tried to call but no answer and he said he is there by himself so maybe he needs someone to answer the phone… I wish Zin was still there… (zin was the previous owner)…

Good service don’t need a appointment nice guy, think the name is Ricky cool to talk to and gave me $ 10 off for mentioning Unilocal and showing him on my smartphone (if you don’t have one print out a copy of the Unilocal page) everyone says he charged $ 45 but he charged

Cons: Okay, let’s get this out of the way first. The $ 45 price (remember to mention « Unilocal») is CASH ONLY! I’m so used to going to places that accept credit cards, that I hardly carry any cash in my wallet. Luckily, there was an unoccupied corner at the end of the block, so I whored myself for 4 hours until I got enough cash. CHA-​CHING!
Pros: $ 45 is a great deal! But the real reason why Advanced Smog will get my business again is because the service was professional and very quick. They know you have better things to do than to sit around all day reading out-​dated Time magazines in the waiting room. I was in and out in under 20 minuets. Zin for the win! He also gave me a good referral to a neighboring shop for some body repair for my car too. Thanks x2!

I’ve been back twice since my original review and I’m still a major fan of Zin and advanced smog! Quick, friendly and an awesome price!
I came back in July to get my (beloved) Civic smogged since I was selling it. I went back just last week to get my 2003 Audi smogged.
$ 45 cash if you mention Unilocal (though I’m thinking the year of your car may have some impact on the pricing).

We needed to smog a Toyota X-​runner before the end of the month. So we got the referral from my cousin who had previously brought his matrix in for a smog and was a happy customer… so we experienced it for ourselves today.
Quick, friendly and easy. As simple as that.
Will definitely go back when it is time to smog our xA and our xB.
