Zippy Shell – Minneapolis

Thanks Susan and Jon! The local teams in LA and Mpls were fantastic. I can’t thank them enough for making the process smooth. They were responsive and communicated well on the days leading up to trailer delivery and pickup. Zippy Shell was an affordable option for a cross country move and I loved that they had storage available as I didn’t have a destination for my things initially. I self loaded my one bedroom house into the smaller container, everything fit easily. It was loaded in about three hours and unloaded in only an hour.

This is a long one, but was so impressed by this company that I wanted to explain each part. I broke it up into categories so you can read what is most important to you!
INTRO/​BACKGROUND: My fiancé and I have never moved out of state and across country (from California to Minnesota), so we were pretty nervous in the beginning. I think everyone can agree that moving is stressful and almost everyone has a moving company horror story. I completed some research online and also researched what precautions to take before selecting a moving company. With the precautions and decent/​fair pricing in mind we decided to go with Zippy Shell.
WHAT WE ORDERED: We were moving a two bedroom, two bath, with garage apartment.
We thought we had a lot of stuff (which most Americans do!), so we ordered a 15′ and a 10′ shell. They don’t have shell’s larger than 15′.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: We are so impressed with everyone that helped us out through this journey from Zippy Shell. The customer service is EXCELLENT and we didn’t have to deal with any rude, horrible people. The LAST thing we wanted to deal with is a scam company and rude people, while moving!
I believe the customer service center is based out of Florida. First, the manager Darren (it may have been Derek? Very sweet and professional. One of the big reasons we went with Zippy Shell) and employee Angie set the initial quote. They then assigned me with a moving coordinator, whom helped me every step of the way. Melissa, my moving coordinator, was great! I was busy packing and all sorts of other things, so I preferred being emailed. She quickly responded to each of my emails (and phone calls), which was awesome.
MOVERS: It was just us two, so we needed movers in Cali (we self-​unloaded in MN. Thank you, Brother). Cannot stress enough how awesome these guys were. George, Saul, and David arrived on time and were a delight to work with. Such hard workers! We had three flights of stairs (no elevator. I know poor guys, right?!) and they were awesome throughout the whole move. We packed our belongings and bought some plastic covers for the sofa and mattress. We also wrapped the other furniture with plastic wrap. We didn’t do the best job and honestly were in a rush, so we had it set into our minds that some things were probably going to end up damaged. We were again pleasantly surprised that the movers securely wrapped the furniture and anything else we had poorly packed/​wrapped. At the end of the 4 hours the guys were expectingly «shot» and were hopefully pleasantly surprised by the tip they received (TIP YOUR MOVERS. If you were impressed by them, please tip them! They get paid sh*t in my opinion for how hard they work!).
MOST IMPORTANT PART IN MY OPINION: These guys were so good at loading the Zippy Shell that they saved us around $ 1500.00 for a second 10′ shell that we thought we needed. SERIOUSLY! IF YOU HAD A TETRIS BATTLE WITH THESE GUYS YOU WOULD LOSE!
CONCLUSION: Fair price, great customer service, awesome movers, and received the shell (at the destination) in 5 business days (expecting 7 – 10 business days). Jon transported our shell from the Minneapolis Zippy warehouse and he also picked it up the next day. Very nice man and even left a dolly (hand truck) for us to use. All in all very impressed from start to finish and will be spreading the word.
