Sunoco/APlus Convenience Store

Sunoco South Riding is somewhat recently renovated and is our preferred South Riding gas station. The main reason? CRUNCHY ICE!!! The pumps are new’ish and usually it’s easy to get in and out. The beverage mart is well-​lit and clean. If you need a cold caffeinated beverage this is a fine stop. The crunchy ice is some sort of Freudian trap for me — I love working on that at the bottom of a cold cup. The few times we’ve used their car wash service has been fine — their gas is somewhat more expensive but we seem to get better performance out of it than the ⁷⁄₁₁ gas. The attendants are universally helpful and friendly.

Overall this place is great as far as gas stations go, and the guys that run the place are friendly as well.
My major issue is how long the experience at the pump takes. They have these new pumps, but it seems as if the computer inside is run by a hamster.
During these cold winter days lately I cringe as it slowly asks for my zip code, and my fingers cry out for mercy as the display updates with several more options before you can just fill up the cars tank. If you have the patience to ask for a receipt, you are a better man then I, it’s another 15 seconds of the machine thinking about if it even has paper to print.
So as much as I like this place, I avoid it unless I have ‘time to kill, and the weather is Mild.

Good location to gas up on the way home from Reston to Haymarket. I’ve been here a few times — for gas and for cold beverages. Full convenience store with all of the normal goods: coffee, cold soda and bottled water, snacks, and such, ATM, restrooms…
Paid at the pump, used the trash cans to deposit all of the refuse in the car. They have LCD TVs mounted on the gas pumps displaying a variety of video content in an attempt to keep you mildly entertained.
