Joe @ Hunt’s saved my vacation! I was in Boothbay Harbor when I noticed dust on my image sensor which I could not blow out. Annoyance turned to panic when I realized my sensor swabs weren’t in the camera bag. I was headed up to the Acadia area later that night for a family reunion where I was to be the photographer. I called virtually every camera store within a 100mi radius. Most couldn’t clean a sensor and one(downtown) would only do it overnight. Things were looking pretty grim. Then I called Hunt’s and talked to Joe. He told me to come on over and he would take a look at it right away. Sure enough, 15 minutes after I got there the sensor was clean and he even took the time to clean all of the lens and filter surfaces. THANKYOU! The price was extremely reasonable too! The staff was very nice and helpful. The store has a bit of everything. Besides a full selection of cameras(including DSLRs) and lenses, they had a good selection of tripods, small cases, professional camera bags, inkjet paper, etc. Honestly, Hunt’s is a the type of camera store that I didn’t think existed anymore. The type of place where you might walk in there and really find what you were looking. Joe — you not only saved they day but also restored my faith!

Yes, the store was larger than necessary, but they did have the camera I was looking for(Sony NEX5N), which is is unavailable anywhere else in the area and in short supply even on-line, their price was as good as available elsewhere, and when the one they had in the store turned out to be on hold for someone, they had another shipped to my house overnight for free from their store in Boston. The salespeople were knowledgeable(and I know a bit about cameras myself), helpful, and easy to relate to.

ABYSMALSERVICE; I was the only customer in the store, and was ignored by TWO employees for 25 minutes. This came after the fact that there was a sign on the door claiming they were closed, but which actually was for the day before. So I ignored the sign and tried the door anyway, and guess what – open! But seriously, I shouldn’t have to guess. They have atrocious retail design and presentation, including a conspicuous lack of prices on half of the items in the store. When I can get everything they sell online for less, they really need to make it worth your while to buy from them. They definitely did nothing of the sort. Finally, upon leaving, I stopped at the register to discuss these issues with the manager, who grunted at me and didn’t even bother apologizing.

I second the reviewer who stated it felt empty. But they do have a decent selection of stuff. No comparison to independent camera shops who carry EVERYTHING, because these guys carry only the basics. So if basics is whatyou need this is the place. Prices are basic too.

The store has a decent DSLR selections, and lenses for Canon and Nikon. Feels a little empty for the size of the store. I bought a camera there once and the salesman let me experiment with a boxed model. Not quite the selection of Photo Market, but a better option in the mall area than Circuit City or Best Buy.
