Best Western Merry Manor Inn

Overall not bad. I liked the swimming pool and jacuzzi the best of all.
Our flight was cancelled so had to find a hotel. This place had only a suite room was open, and we decided to take it. It was $ 160/​night and there’s jacuzzi in your bedroom. Jacuzzi by the way, jets weren’t working. We looked for the button but there is none. They probably took it out because the carpet can get wet easily? Not sure but not cool…
Wierd deco in the room. Very outdated and worn out furniture. Probably 20 years old. Feels like I was in early 90s maybe 80s movie in Jersey.
School kids and some old ladies were staying in the hotel and breakfast. The cafeteria was packed… Not so pleasant at 7 in the morning…

Pros: The staff is friendly, complimentary cookies & coffee + breakfast, heated pool (which happens to have a little through the wall door– when you go through it you’ll find a hot tub with a waterfall, and a mini pool), wifi, cable, big tv, microwave.
Not a bad area, plenty of parking.
Cons: I did get a bed bug bite.
Unfortunately it was so close to my buttcheek, I had a hard time even considering showing someone. This is the second time I’ve knowingly had a bedbug bite & I’ve stayed at many hotels. searched the bed and everywhere around it… nothing. I did find a head hair that didn’t belong to me. However the bed was comfy.
The hotel is very confusing and hard to navigate through. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. The carpet didn’t seem very clean. I’ve seen much worse.

just a quick note to let you know NAVAL RESERVE RECRUITERS ASSOCIATION held our 21^st reunion at MERRYMANOR BEST WESTERN Inn in Portland Maine over the weekend. It was an amazing success. the hotel staff and particularly DON HAGGETT and KIM SHOEMAKER, the Sales Director and his or her assistant, (I’m not quite certain which was which, LOL) bent over backward to meet our needs and insure our reunion ran smoothly. the entire staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and professional. there were absolutely no complaints from anyone. I highly recommend use of MERRYMANOR for any and all functions. this would not have been experienced without the hotels participation in a YMRC session last year in Portlane ME. My wife and I will be attending future YMRC programs in the future as we search for other locations in the midwest and west. We won’t be hosting next year, but expect to host within 3 years. well done.

So I rated this 5 stars… Is it a five star hotel? Nope but in the world of Best Westerns and in expensive places to crash for a night it’s outstanding!!! It’s got a super nice pool for the kids with a waterfall the breakfast is quite good! I did not visit the restaurant or Bar but was told it’s pretty good. The room was clean and the mattresses while far from as nice as I have at home were better then most places that are sub 100.00 in New England!

On arrival a smelly bunch of soccer kids littered the lobby with out shoes on.

Shower tub combo was an ugly green color with short shower head
Tiny cramped toilet situation
Fridge wasn’t functioning and door was open when we got there
Room looked like it had many layers of old paint
Air conditioned was loud
Windows were foggy from how damp room was.
Our clothes and suit case were damp and smelly when we left.
Dated décor to say the least
Over all we tried our best to be in this room as little as possible. I have heard great things about best westerns, but this one left s bad taste in our mouths. I won’t be staying here again. I don’t understand the good reviews unless they all stayed in the honey moon suite… Wish I had known about it.

Nice hotel, friendly staffers. Its pretty old carpet, wallpapers, drapes are dated big time and would definitely need to be refreshed, but its clean and good price

Several night stay at this Best Western. Very good location to shopping (Mall of Maine) and quick drive to downtown Portland. Friendly and accommodating front desk staff. I liked the set up of the King standard room we stayed in. Great massage chair! And huge flat screen TV (60 inch). Good size bathroom and great water pressure. The not so great stuff included the dated feel, carpet in the halls from the Shining, a sad breakfast dining area (it looked like the Inn’s staff breakroom), and honestly the breakfast was a little gross. There were areas of the hotel that were under construction and perhaps addressing the much needed updating.

Helped us immensely by delivering our bags to our room once United brought them to the hotel. Nice big room with GREAT, comfy bed. Super friendly service, with the very good, requisite waffle breakfast. More than fairly pried. Close to the airport.

We tried Sunday breakfast and were plesantly surprised. Great service and a good value for breakfast. Newly redecorated and the menu is simple yet satisfying. I highly recommend it even if you are not staying there!

Friendly staff, good breakfast, recently renovated it seems. Free coffee throughout the day for guests. Take away breakfast if you néed to head out early in the morning before 6:30am. Great value for money.

The sheet is humid that is ridiculous as a hotel room. Is there anyone piss on the bed mattress or they don’t put the sheet in dryer for the enough time. Anyway I felt very uncomfortable to fall in sleep, I am very sensitive person. The local is very convenience but it’s not worth for the price because the room is terrible I can’t fall in sleep with humid sheets or mattress, you better to think about to choice another hotels close by before you get mad about this ridiculous thing

Wow! The folks out front during check in were nice. In the room is better than I expected it to be. We booked the room has a Jacuzzi because for the price it couldn’t be beat. When we checked in they told us we had the honeymoon suite. We both laughed because we didn’t even have a honeymoon suite on our honeymoon. When we got into the room now only that I have a two person Jacuzzi but also a king bed a fireplace and a massage chair. For the price it just can’t be beat.

There was some miscommunication among the staff and myself for the booking of the hotel. I requested a specific arrival time and it didn’t get relayed properly, but aside from that, the hotel went out of their way to make up for it by booking me a room elsewhere.
When we were finally able to room at Best Western, they were more than accommodating. There were a few missteps along the way, such as an improperly cleaned room due to someone having too early of a checkout, but Best Western quickly gave me a clean and new room within 2 minutes, and they did all the legwork of running around to bring me the keys. They even offered to carry my bags. Kat and Brian were able to help me out tremendously.
Upon checkout, I did not do a through sweep to make sure I had left anything behind. It turned out I had left behind some Polaroids (yes, old fashioned, I know). I quickly called when I realized (about 2 hours later) and asked if they could do anything for me, despite the fact that I could not return. Alicia took down my name and address and mailed the photos to me.
Thank you for ending my vacation on a good note!

This place was good for the price for the area.
People at the front desk were very nice. Hotel is very old, outdated but well maintained and the rooms were clean. The jacuzzi and the swimming pool was very nice. And the pool was very big compare to other hotel/​motels. The gym had a decent amount of equipments but lots of them were broken or not functioning well.
Buffet breakfast was very nice for the price you pay. You get hot items too like scramble eggs, cheese eggs, bacon and sausages. And you get your usual bagel, toasts, and muffins.
WiFi worked very well. Overall this was a good place to stay for the night for the price we paid. Only 15 mins to old port too.

We came here as a back up as the hotel we booked online was horrible. Every staff member we encountered was warm and friendly. The honeymoon suite was unbelievable, esp. considering the rate. The restaurant is fair. The pool is heated to 90 degrees and opened year round. Hot tub with waterfall is great. We’d stay there again in a minute.

Just what you would expect from a ‘budget’ hotel. Hotel was dated but everything was well maintained. It’s close to Portland about a 10 – 15 minute drive away, cabs were 15 – 20 $. One cab service provided a flat rate 15 $ ride to downtown Portland. Try to get this flat rate if you take a cab.
Walls were pretty thin and you could hear a decent amount of noise in your room, even when guests weren’t that loud. There is a good amount of parking which should be enough for all guests.
There were absolutely no frills or extras anywhere except for a complimentary breakfast buffet. A free breakfast buffet for the hotel price was a nice plus, even if the breakfast was blah. Good enough for a hangover. The OJ ‘dispenser’ put out more water than OJ.
Front desk customer service was GREAT, everybody I interacted with was extremely friendly and helpful. You could do a lot worse for a budget hotel and overall I think you would be very happy staying here on a trip to Portland.

Clean, friendly, fast service if something’s wrong, if you have questions about anything local they’re so helpful. Mary and Brian were sooo helpful!!! The pool is saltwater which is cool, the jacuzzi has a waterfall and is amazing:) it’s a bit romantic if you go under the fall, you can’t hear anything but who your with:) if I was a kid id be there the whole day making fun of people lol but I’m a grown up and that’s not nice lol. Thanks for a wonderful experience:)

Taking a spontaneous road trip with Eric and we wound up here at 3am from NY. Very tired and needing sleep. What a great hotel! The desk clerk Anthony was so nice and accommodating We got to the room and WOW so nice, it has a separate bathroom and .then a separate sink and coffee area. Then the bedroom part has a huge King Memory Foam mattress and huge flat screen tv too! So nice and comfy we fell dead asleep. Woke up and had a great complimentary breakfast buffett at the restaurant next door with juice and coffee baked goods cereal pancakes french toast sausage pancakes bacon, delicious. The place has an on site pool as well and is very clean and kept up nicely. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling in the Portland ME area. The only problem was the onsite ATM was out of order but oh well there was a gas station next door that i just walked to.

The Merry Manor Inn was a wonderful place to stay. The room was clean, had a coffee machine, refrigerator, hair dryer and iron. The selection of TV was decent. We stayed here for 3 nights so I did take some time to watch TV. There is a coin operated laundry facility on site.
