Well they disappointed me. I go here 3 or 4 times a month. My beef with this place has always been ordering a pie and picking up one that has been sitting. To avoid this I would either order half sausage or extra cheese well done to make sure I got the pie I ordered, hot and fresh out of the oven. Order a large plain pie and you may get one of the assembly line pies, sitting there for 5 or 10 minutes. Ash Wednesday, busy as expected, I order a Sicilian pie. Told it would be ready in 20 or 25 minutes. I got there in 15 minutes and saw one sitting there on the side. «just came out of the oven» they said. I took home a barely warm and soggy pie. I’m done. Terminado. They got me for the last time

I come here pretty regularly for my lunch break. Food — amazing. I love their pizza and pretty much everything else I have tried. They are friendly too, which is great. The only drawback — they won’t let you pay with a debit/credit card unless you are ordering $ 10 or more. As a business owner I understand it is frustrating to lose a % on smaller orders, but I used to work for a credit card processing company with Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover. It is against your merchant agreement to have such a sign and to turn business away because of that. If the credit card processing company found out, you wouldn’t be able to accept cc at all anymore. Like I said, everything else is wonderful there.

I’m from north jersey and moved to south Plainfield; love the town HATE the pizza — except for Tony’s: Tonys is the only Pizza place in town whose pizza matches up to a northern NJ Pizza place. The sauce is good, nice staff– great pizza. Haven’t tried the food; I’m really into another local pizza joint for the food but Tony’s pizza is outstanding. Nice resturaunt atmosphere as well.

I make an excuse to stop by Tony’s whenever I’m visiting family. They have great pizza and delicious subs. I usually get a tomato bread as an appetizer and often add one of their homemade soups to my dinner. Casual atmosphere and very personable staff.

Well the crust is the right thickness the problem is the salt. I don’t think anyone in this pizzeria taste the combinations on there pies. To damn salty !!! The pepperoni forget about it. They are saying we don’t make the pepperoni we know that but you could buy a brand that is not as salty or don’t BAKETHEMON when the pie is almost done last five minutes trow them on the grease and the salt stay in them not all over. The pizza has a good flavor, I think it is the sweetness of the sauce that makes it good. There is more of a pizzeria on one side, tables and more of a restaurant feel on the other.

Really great place. My boyfriend always says that a great Italian place always has a take out area and a seating area in the back. So far, he’s been right. The service at this place was good. We were greeted nicely as we came in. Our hostess must have been new because she seemed nervous, but very nice overall. She was attentive and made sure we were accommodated during our meal. The food was great. first, we got bread at the table. It was very warm, soft and filling. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parmigiana. The crust on the chicken was very crunchy and delicious. Very different from the ones I’ve had before, but in a good way. I ordered the penne vodka. The sauce was delicious, but it was a bit watery for my taste. I like my sauces a bit on the heavier side, but that’s just a preference. There was nothing wrong with the sauce. Portion sizes are pretty big here. I usually finish an entire plate, but this was just too much for me. I only finished about half. They also include a salad or soup with your entrée too. We both got soups and they give pretty big portions of that as well. For dessert, we got Tartofu. It was very interesting. It was chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream in a chocolate shell. There were cherries, jam and nuts in the center. I haven’t heard of this dessert before, but I was very satisfied with it. Overall, great place, and I will certainly be back later on.

Unilocal reviews were very helpful as we were visiting the area for the first time. I took my Italian folk to this place and were pleasantly surprised by great service and food. Thanks to the friendly crew at Tony’s! You helped brighten a dreary and rainy day for my family.

The pizza is nothing exceptional. It’s about the same as every other average pizzeria that you’ve probably been to. What’s below average is their customer service. They younger man who runs the register is rude and should not be in a customer facing position. Anyone who thinks this place offers superior customer service needs to expand their horizons and try other places to see what true professionalism is.

Great pizza, and their penne vodka and eggplant parm is also great! Friendly staff and always great pizza! It tends to get busy on weekends and Friday nights, so call ahead. There is also a separate section of the restaurant that has a more sit down casual Italian restaurant vibe with table service and is BYOB.

I have been going to Tony’s since before A&P was across the street. and McD’s was the spot for kid parties before it moved there as well… the old Tony’s was the classic NJ pizza joint, tacky tables and small but great fresh pie. Today Tony’s is a split personality, you have the old school pizzeria on one side and a sit down«upish» scale side. I was never impressed with most of the menu, so to me, this is a pie place(the best in the immediate area by far, especially since Piancone’s is no longer around). Nothing fancy here, just straight up good pie and the calzones are also top notch. I never had a problem with the service although it was more ‘personal’ at the original incarnation. Simply put, this is the best pizza in the area and has been for years. Order it extra crispy.

I am a pizza addict born and raised in NJ. I lived in Rhode Island for 8 years and all I missed eating the entire time I was there was Tony’s Pizza. I remember riding my bike to eat here as a child when he was in the smaller location at the other end of the strip mall. All of his food is top notch. Great customer service. They don’t know me by name but every time I go in there they remember that I want two cheese slices with a small cup of red sauce on the side. I rarely need to speak my order anymore and I love that. It’s nice to have that neighborhood feeling in a place you give your money to on a regular basis. If I had to find something to complain about it would be that they don’t delivery. Not sure why he doesn’t but he has been in business for a very long time and has expanded to a much nicer location so whatever he is doing is working for him. I guess when your pizza is this good you don’t need to deliver. Hey, I drive to get it every time so clearly it’s worth it. If you like Neapolitan pizza it does not get any better than this. Get red sauce in a cup next time you’re here. Dip ANYTHING in it and you will love it. I use it for the crust. I could make a meal out of his red sauce with slices of bread, yes, it’s that good. ***Update in 2015. This review really should become sponsored. It’s legit.***

Wonderful pizza, chicken parm, garlic knots and cheesesteaks. Chicken scampi special was outstanding. Warm, gracious and competent service. Not fancy, but quite comfortable. A solid choice for a casual dinner. My kids and I love it.

I work in Edison and Tony’s is a favorite lunch stop for me and the guys I work with. The pizza is the best around! Tony’s also has cheese-steaks and cold sub sandwiches, which are all excellent! My personal favorite is the«Tony’s Special» which is their version of the Italian sub. It is the best Italian sub in the area, by far. You also gotta try the tomato bread. It is excellent and you won’t find it anywhere else. If you are more into sit-down traditional Italian dinners then Tony’s has you covered, too. One side of the restaurant is set up like a traditional sit down restaurant.

I will save you the trouble. Get their Sicilian Style Pizza!, the crust is just the right amount if crispiness. You also should get their chicken parmesan, one of the good ones that Ive had in the area. The place is super clean. Staff are always very friendly and loves their job! Which is always a plus as a customer when you know the staff are enjoying making the food for you!
