Truly a bummer that this place closed up shop. Though Curio Emporium was small, we’re now left with Necromance and Gold Bug for brick-and-mortar curiosity cabinets, and both have their sometimes tough-to-ignore faults. Curio Emporium still operates online these days, but I miss visiting them. I mean, where else in this town could you ooh and ahh over taxidermied two-headed whatchamacallits and giggle at a case of rectal dilators and covet fancy Edwardian era pocket watches all in one room? They occasionally had an event, be it posing as an 1800s shop for a steampunk webseries or a Victorian-themed arts festival. It was neat while it lasted.

Sad that this place is closing. They had some very unique and interesting vintage oddities and antiques. I’m into Steampunk and would have liked to have shopped here more… but alas, I can’t go back in time. Or can I?

I have been here twice, and for some reason i keep wanting to go back. I haven’t bought anything, mainly since there is no room at my place for any of their oddities, but i really like the atmosphere and just looking at everything. They have some really odd things! And by odd, i mean awesome. The two owners are also really cool. I have chatted with them for a while, while looking at their stuff. They are fellow Bats Day go-ers, so that made my experience even better when we chatted about that. Anyway, i really like this place. It is a bit of a hole in the wall, and you would NEVER expect to see this place in South Pasadena, but it somehow fits in very well. It makes me feel like it relates very well with the old Rialto. Both are different, have a feeling of past history, and you cannot help but feel drawn in, wanting to see what the inside looks like.

20s era music. David and Jen, boyfriend and girlfriend. They find some, make some, and get some on consignment. A short list of their wares: Portraits. WWII paraphenalia. Steampunk goggles and spectacles. Pocket watches. An anal dialator. Vibrators. Formaldahyde chicks. Suffed chicks, rooster, quail. Skulls. Bones. Sled. Awesome.

Gently tucked away in the Southern tip of Pasadena is the Curio Emporium! Thankfully this new little gem opened in last couple of months and they have a large array of vintage, antique, refurbished, and original pieces at this store. Everything is moderately priced and they have a cool variety of medical, macabre, military, and all sorts of other nic nacs from times long and past. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, quite knowledgeable on their items, and very stylish to boot! Definitely stop by and check this place out!

Dropped by here with my partner an we were TOTALLY blown away! Such a wonderful stop for us quirky folk, who like our styles ranging from Victorian to WWII and heavy on the dark or fanatic! Their pricing is out of this world excellent — I saw so many pieces that I steeled myself to see be out of my range that instead flabbergasted me because I knew I could pick them up on payday! The couple running the store(whose names elude me as I’m awful with names) were dressed to match the theme and so gracious. I’ll certainly be a regular here and Highly recommend it!

What a cool store! Stepping inside is like traveling back in time! This is not your typical antique store, this is more like visiting H.G. Wells parlor! I also like that there is something unique and interesting for almost any price range. I plan on using this place whenever I want a special gift. The owners are really great, I like their taste! A nice addition to South Pas!

Best little shop of horrors you’ll ever find in the LA area. Curios and Oddities of all types can be found here and at VERY reasonable prices! David and Jenna are the friendliest owners and will even help you find something in particular even if you cannot find it in the shop! The store is very convenient with plenty of street parking and close to other great shops and restaurants. Make a day of it and visit The Curio Emporium!

I absolutely love this place. I was on a search for an oddities shop in Orange County. But after looking around, The Curio Emporium in Pasedena was the only location to peak my interest despite its distant commute. Fortunately they have a website which convinced me that this place would be well worth the visit. The location is perfect for this shop, an early 20th century home across from the historic yet dilapidated Rialto theater. Steampunk and gothic culture is definitely not my personal style, but I have a love of all things unusual, vintage and historical. This place has it all, old military objects and photos, taxidermied creatures, goggles and accessories for your steampunk couture, early electronic devices and all sorts of lovely apothecary jars filled with pickled specimens. The best part of this visit was meeting the owners, Jenna Macabre and David Constantine. Both with Hollywood good looks blended with Victorian goth, you feel even more so in the script of Sweeney Todd, Van Helsing and Sherlock Holmes when visiting this shop. Jenna was very personable and was eager to show me around the store and give background to several of the objects. David’s knowledge of history and the context of the items was impressive which was a relief compared to some similar shops where employees either have no idea of what they sell or don’t really care to answer your questions. Customer service is VERY important to me and is always something that makes me willing to support a business. For them, this was not a problem because it is evident that they love what they do. I left purchasing a pair of loupe spectacles with a magnifying clip, perfect for my detailed art projects, specimen observations and my mad scientist costume. At less than $ 30 for everything, I thought their prices were excellent. My visit to The Curio Emporium was great, and I will definitely be returning. Thanks guys, and I wish you success and growth in your endeavors.
