Pet’s Delight

STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE. All of their dogs are from puppy mills and are in extremely cramped cages with padlocks.

So we purchased (adopted) a kitten from Pet’s Delight in December. The owner helped us. He was a little pushy but, still, we loved the kitten and with many questions, answered we took our new family member home for $ 300 after we purchased all of the supplies to go along with him. I specifically asked the owner on three separate occasions if the kitten had been neutered and each time his response was «YES». However, he couldn’t provide us with paperwork on that, only on two vaccinations. So… our kitten is now 9 months old and we come to find out that he is definitely NOT neutered and it has cost me over $ 350 to neuter him. The guy who owns this store is a big LIAR and I wouldn’t recommend adopting or purchasing a pet from him. Go to the Pasadena Humane Society. They are an above board and reputable organization.

If your store bird has plucked itself bald and looks like it’s on the verge of death, it’s pretty safe to say your pet store is a hell hole for animals.
You should honestly be arrested for the obvious lack of medical treatment you give your macaw. Even some of your budgies are plucking! NOT molting, PLUCKING.

The owner helped me with all of my concerns for my pug & I even got shown things I can purchase for him over time as he gets older. I got a lot of professional advice & he took the time to explain everything about why he chooses certain products and why he refuses to sell certain things.
I also read (when I got home to write my review) that people were getting attacked by the parrot.
Um… The parrot’s name is Zeus & he’s a sweetie! If you bother him or poke your fingers at him to mess with him I can only imagine that would annoy him, but if you don’t come in there to bother him he wouldn’t hurt anyone.

When I was living in South Pasadena, CA, I purchased a cat from here for my young daughter, and it had one health problem after another from day one. The owner of this store, Gail, is not a very nice person and doesn’t really care about animals, only her profit margin. To make matters worse, they sell dogs from Kansas puppy mills and claim they are rescues. How naïve do they think people are? I can’t believe this place is still in business. Do yourself a favor and shop at Urban Pet next to Rite Aid in South Pasadena — a great pet store that really cares about animals and their customers.

In the past 5 years, I have purchased three puppies from Pet’s Delight. One Yorkipoo and two Yorki’s. I have purchased/​adopted dogs from breeders, from the Humane Society and from friends. My three dogs from Pet’s Delight are the most wonderful dogs I have ever owned. They are loving, healthy, good tempered and the light of my life. The staff is helpful and they seem to love their animals. I hope I am not being stupid and naïve here and supporting a puppy mill inadvertently by purchasing dog’s from Pet’s Delight; but, for those of us who want a particular breed because of specific attributes I just do not know where else to go. The facility is clean, the dogs seem healthy and happy and, again, I love my three dogs more than anything and am so grateful that Pet’s Delight offers puppies for sale.

I’ve been in this pet shop numerous times and I’ve never had issues with the dumb parrot before. The parrot was always caged so I admired it from afar.
Today, the dumb parrot was roaming around freely. My friend and I were looking for dog treats. It just so happens that the ugly birds cage was next to me and the stupid parrot was on top of the cage. The parrot strolled near me and it look like it was going to get on my shoulder; boy was I wrong. That mother fucker came over to fucking bite me.
That shit hurt, and all along I hear this big breasted bitch with gym attire on saying, «Oh, it doesn’t like boys.» «It’s because you’re wearing a hat.» Freakn’ bimbo, Why weren’t you doing anything about it. Who the fuck are you? Who is the fucking owner? You need to put that bird to rest, caged or let it roam free in a bigger caged area under close supervision with a huge warning sign stating that it bites patrons. I’ll even give you a picture of myself to put on the entrance doors because according to Titt-​Ah-​Rella I match the fucking description.
Q: Wouldn’t you inform patrons if your cats/​dogs/​snakes were hostile? Why is it stopping you from doing so with the parrot? Do you think it’s cute that the foul bird does that?
To the owner: You obviously read the reviews and are aware of the parrots attacks, I see that you’ve commented on some of the reviews as well. Why haven’t you taken action? You’re lucky it bit me and not one of the kids running around that morning. You’re going to have hell to pay one of these days, because it’s not about IF it bites a child it’s about WHEN IT BITES A CHILD. Never underestimate a mother/​father scorned.

This pet store is bad, when they make a mistake they don’t take care of there customers! The groomer cut my dogs beautiful and long eyelashes! The most beautiful thing you have seen and then CUT THEM OFF because I didn’t give him instruction, that’s wrong! Most managers would try to make it up, a refund then I would be happy, but he just lost a customer! Good luck to anyone going here to do anything, cause you’ll be hold a bad product and bad service, buyer beware!!! This should be negative-​stars!

If I had a choice I would clearly give them ZERO stars! It’s a shame that they take NO responsibilty for their actions! I take my dog to get groomed and when I pick him up he has no eye lashes and he looks horrible! They charge me $ 50 and tell me it was an accident but that I can speak to the owner to see if I could get a refund? I go in to speak to the owner only to hear a flat out NO REFUND. He obviously has NO love or respect for animals or for their customers.
If you love your pet don’t get it groomed here.

I have had exceptional experiences at Pet’s Delight in meeting some amazing animals there– cats in particular. Two years ago my husband and I adopted a handsome, healthy, and intelligent 11 month old tuxedo cat from Pet’s Delight; we named him Ferguson Darling and the shop was diligent about following up with us to make sure he was transitioning well in his new home and that he attended his follow-​up vet appt. Today we met another cat, a sphinx, whom Id love to adopt, but perhaps we have enough fur friends in our home. If you haven’t visited Pet’s Delight, make some time to stop by!

I bought a puppy from Pets Delight. She was supposed to be a «Japanese Spitz». When I took her to the vet, he confirmed that she was not a pure breed as stated by the women that owns the place and sold her to me for 350. She was sick for a long time as a puppy and continued to have several health issues her whole life. After I went back to talk to the owner about it, I could not even stay in that horrible place because of the smell, and the poor puppies and dogs in cramped conditions. The was a big dog baking in the window of the store on Mission and Hope, it was so sad. I called animal services on them. Unilocal,you cannot take this review down, because I can prove I was a customer, and this is an honest review of this disgusting place that is no more than a shoddy, cruel pet store with puppy mill puppies in it.

Don’t go there, I spend $ 1100 to bought a poodle from there before, and they told me the dog is health and ask me to go to the hospital to check up if the dog everything is ok, (the hospital they were asking me to go i think is corporations with them). And then after 3 months, one day I saw my dog could not walking, and throwing up and diarrhea, was 10pm already, I bring her to emergency. After all check up, they told me, my dog had Diabetes Mellitus type and it can not be fixed, I can not even take her back to home anymore, she has to stay until 4 days after, the Doctor told me she has to get shot every week and $ 200 for every shot …
I can’t afford…
Next day I went to pets delight, ask the manager why they sold me the dog which is unhealthy, the manager said in the beginning I already went to the Doctor for check up, and didn’t find anything wrong … She said she was busy, After that, she just went back to her office, we been waiting almost 20mins, and she never come out .
Don’t go there, never !!

I decided to stop by and check this place out (I needed dog and cat food) The people were friendly and the selection of food was comparable to Petco. I wanted to Unilocal because we need to keep our small shops alive especially in a time when Walmart gobbles them up.
I read the Unilocal reviews and I just went bonkers!
They sell puppies… Well no sh1t! Its a PET store. I’d be pissed if I walked in and they were selling nuclear weapons, women’s lingerie or even worse TIRES (GASP)!
For the people that posted their hypocrisy about them selling pets… When you go to the apple store are you surprised that they sell iPhones? Do you Unilocal reviews about how you wont buy an apple product because of the «alleged» sweatshops? No you simply buy the phone and use it to burry your face and text all your DB vegan friends all your DB save the planet ideas. So save us the holier than though mumbo jumbo. You’re the kind of people that thrive not on success but on the failures of others.

Ugh! Puppies crammed into tiny cages, really hot in the store and they claim the dogs aren’t from puppy mills — people shouldn’t be allowed to sell puppies– the puppies are also padlocked in the cages!!! What if there was an emergency — they’d die! People are horrible

Thank you for the people here，they are nice and kind，especially the manager is friendly. The puppy and other animal which they have are extremely cute. Also they have many things for all kind of pets, like the shampoo, food, toy and ear wash for the dog and so on. Thank you for the good serve and return my money back to me.

I called Pets Delight inquiring if they had any dachshunds. They said they did and for me to come in and see the puppy. I came in, asked about the dachshund and fell in love with her. She was everything I was looking for, when I asked about her price they said she was over $ 1,000. They said the puppy would have her first shots, and that she had no papers. I think that was way to high. The puppies in the front seemed sad, they weren’t happy to see anybody, the way puppies usually act.. The kittens looked miserable, I think they had too many kittens crammed in the cage. I am disappointed that I had to pass on that doxie, but from what I’ve read from other reviews I might have dodged a bullet.

I walked in to pets delight and the first pup to catch my attention was a «standard» long hair dachshund. I asked about her and they said that she was one of their rescues, I believed them because the adoption fee was far less than the other dogs they had. She didn’t come with «AKC» papers which was the least of my worries and she was also a lot older than the other puppies who were mostly 2 months old.
They gave me her paper work and advised me to take her to their vet within a week or two. I took her to the vet but because we are about 30 min away from pasadena we decided we would rather go to our local Vet. Unfortunately my little Macie has spinal neurological deficits along with a medial patellar laxation on her right hind leg. She has to wear a back brace for most of her life. Meaning I am most likely going to spend thousands on vet bills in the future. She is also a mini — not standard as I was told, which doesn’t bother me but goes to show how careless these people are.
After going through her paper work I made the horrible discovery: Macie is a puppy mill dog who comes from one of Missouri’s «Dirty Dozen» puppy mills (named by the humane society) Ironically the same organization who I donate 5% of my
earnings to every month. Their claim to have rescues was what drew me into pets delight and I had been actively searching for a rescue at my nearby shelters for about two weeks. I was heartbroken and still in the grieving stage as my 14 year old dachshund had passed away a month prior but ready to give another dog a forever loving home. I absolutely adore my sweet dog but it was heartbreaking to learn that I was tricked into supporting something so horrible by «adopting» her here.

I was contacted by the owner of this business and she informed me that the «Cage free» logos on the south side of THEIR building is actually for the business above them. This is false advertising as it is very unclear they are not related.
Before you go to this place you should do your research on where these puppies are coming from and the history of the owners who own this place. They even mention they are subject to random checks from the Humane Society… and there is a reason for that.

Note: this review is very limited in scope, in the sense that I would sooner die than purchase a dog or cat from a pet store. Anyone that has done even the most cursory research will tell you that for the most part, dogs and cats found in pet stores are either the runts of the litter, or the animals that a breeder could not profit from by selling himself. There are plenty of other reviews on here if you want to know more about purchasing a dog or cat from this pet store. Since I have never done that, and never will, I will keep it very focused on what I do buy there — snake food.
It just so happens that I have several snakes. Most of them do just fine eating frozen/​thawed, and I can purchase those in bulk online without any trouble. As it stands however I have one finicky little critter that refuses to eat anything but live pinky mice. Thanks to PETA, the court of public opinion, and the law of Fuzzy=cute, it is damn near impossible to find live feeder mice, especially the smaller ones for smaller snakes. Pet’s delight is one of the only places in the area that actually carries them.
At $ 2.10, it’s a little more than I like to spend, but really, snakes are not expensive pets. Since they eat once a week, it’s more the inconvenience of driving to south pas to get the silly little things. Try feeding a dog for 8 bucks a month.
The store seems to have a selection of other odds and ends for Pets — leashes, bowls, accessories. Candidly, I’ve never really looked at them… I go in I buy the mouse I leave.
Okay, so not my most globally appealing review of all time. But certainly specific to a few cello Unilocalers understand what I’m talking about… Especially when you have a small critter the refuses to eat.
