I was in the area & got a text, «cilantro». This store was on the way and it’s one I’ve always meant to check out someday. Pros: The hot & cold deli sections. 3 types of chicken-fried, BBQ bake & roasted. The salads variety was pretty good. Some reminded me of Lemonade-type salads. Good quality produce. Always a big plus for me. Picked up more than just the cilantro. Picked up some loose bagels from the bins. Nice selection. Prices weren’t as high as I had anticipated. Friendly polite employees. I liked how their shopping carts had a cup holder for your Starbucks coffee.(But I didn’t see anyone manning the booth. Oh well.) I wouldn’t mind stopping by every so often! Ended up buying way more than I meant to. This was a pleasant shopping experience. One curious note: Never could figure out why they had a Vons & a(formerly Vons) Pavilions side by side.

My favorite grocery store in South Pasadena: Best prices, nice people, great ground beef, easy access & parking, open early, well managed.

The cake decorating specialist in the bakery, Claudia is wonderful. She asks for how you want your cake decorated and does exactly that! It’s important to place cake orders in advance because she gets veryyyyyy busy on the weekends but she was able to accommodate my request for a last min smash cake for a photoshoot so I am very grateful.

They used to be better, but service has gone downhill for about a year now. I’m not sure what happened. Now they routinely forget to fill parts of my prescriptions(and then I have to go through the trouble of having the doctor re-write the parts that didn’t get filled), or claim they never received faxed prescriptions from the doctor. If you use the drive through, prepare to wait forever as they help every single walk in customer before they come to you. The staff has been increasingly rude and impatient. Today I called, was placed on hold for about 20 min only to be disconnected. When I called again, the staff member apologized saying that she was the only one there, but then as I was explaining what I needed, she cut me off saying that she couldn’t help me because she had another live customer and a phone call waiting(and I am what??? a telemarketer???). I have used this pharmacy almost exclusively for at least 10 years, but I’m done. If they want to save money and never staff this pharmacy properly or hire rude and(presumably cheaper staff), that’s fine, I’ll just take my business elsewhere. I’m not coming back.

The selection of meats are great except for the supply seems to be never enough. The people who order the supplies need to address the problem better then just saying they didn’t send the shipment.

This location is always stocked with what I need. It even has a starbucks inside. Gatorade was on sale today and even with lines with a few registers running they asked me if I wanted help with my car. The employees are always sooo cheery and helpful!

Excellent prices for good quality food. It gets crowded, so bring a little patience and you’ll do just fine.

Freshly prepared sushi review — 3 ½ stars. THEAMBIANCE: I come to Pavilions when I am in the mood for fast-food style sushi. I normally make a trip during lunch. There is a small sushi counter towards the far back on the left side of the store. The same sushi chef is always there. THESUSHIANDACCESSORIES: You basically have to choose from the selection that the sushi chef made that day. Generally, there are a lot of rolls with spicy tuna and I am not a big fan. Sometimes there is sashimi. The sushi is prepared and placed in a metal display for customers to grab. I guess my 3 ½ stars is due to the selection. It’s a hit or miss. I like that they have ponzu sauce and soy sauce packets. They do not offer green onions or fresh lemons. THETIPS: To-go.

Great decorated cakes — Ok, let me first start by saying that Unilocaling a grocery store is not my usual way to spend my Sunday morning :). That said, every once in a while you meet that incredible service person who deserves the kuddos. The cake artist at this location is one of those people. The special order cakes are always top tier and amazingly, she remembers me and my family each and every time we come in. This is the kind of small town service one looks for and seldom finds in the mega grocery stores of today.

This review is just for the Pharmacy, which my Doctor has on speed dial whenever I need particular medicines. The staff there know me pretty well, and very nice about letting me know when a prescription is in, or whether it’s in stock. My insurance pays almost all the costs of these prescriptions, except for one, which is $ 100/month. Well, I needed to get another pharmacy because it was just too high. It turns out if you use a 90 day mail prescription, costs are much less in most cases. But for the immediate needs, this pharmacy serves me well and has never failed me. I am happy they have competent technicians and pharmacists that know the medicines and effects with other medications.

Very relieved to have such a great and reliable pharmacy in town. The pharmacists and techs are so wonderful each time I see them. I will never go to another pharmacy. These guys will go the extra mile for their customers without question. I’ve been a regular for over a year now and don’t believe I have had a positive pharmacy experience elsewhere that even comes close to the South Pas Pavilions. It sounds trite, I mean, «It’s just a pharmacy,» you might say. But dealing with prescriptions that can be a hassle to refill really makes you appreciate a friendly face and a pharmacy tech that is willing to help you get your script filled. One instance that comes to mind occurred in March of 2015. The tech took note of how expensive my scripts were, saw that I was a AAA member, and applied the member discount. I didn’t even know the perks of AAA extended to my pharmacy – but alas, the folks at Pavilions had my back once again. I believe wholeheartedly that my experience is archetypal of what one can expect when visiting the South Pasadena Pavilions Pharmacy.

Decent grocery store for selection(not great), but NOSELFCHECKOUT and NEVER enough check-stands open, but ALWAYS staffed w/super-slow checkers, esp. the express lane(I’ve never understood that).

I prefer shopping at Pavilions over Von’s because the produce always SEEMS more fresh. I could be imagining things, of course… but the groceries always look better. Maybe it’s because less people come here? The hours are later than Von’s which is convenient, and there’s a Starbucks inside. Express lanes are located north of the checkout lanes and make for speedy purchases if you have 15 items or less. This is my neighborhood grocery store, and basically the only place I’d go to buy stuff(besides trader joes, of course!)

Love Pavillion! Staff is always friendly and helpful. But what really rocks are the bagels. Usually they are just .59 cents each! What you say? Yea .59 cents each. And their huge! Always fresh made too. Check it out. But get there early, before noon as they do run out.

Since Albertsons bought Vons and Pavilions, the bakery items have gone way downhill, the boston cream pie/cake that we used to like is dreadful-awful. Maybe it is baked by somebody named Minnie? The just-for-U nonsense where you have to go online before shopping is annoying so we usually shop elsewhere.

SHOPPERSBEWARE!!! Extremely dishonest staff. It upsets me that I am having to write this negative review, but it is more important to warn everyone. Twice now I have had incidents with this Pavilions and their management. The first time I got the run-around about when my speciality meat order came in. It ended up arriving FOUR days after the date I was promised. It nearly ruined the event that I had ordered the meat for. The second time, I was misquoted the price of catering trays. Instead of owning up to her mistake, the Deli Manager told me that I was in the wrong. The Asst. Store Manager, in an effort to amend the situation, offered me a discount, but the Deli Manager refused to honor that discount. Excuse me? She deserves to be fired. Never step inside this Pavilions.

I first went to Vons and they were out of stock of the item I was looking for. Luckily right across the street is Pavilions and they had what I was looking for, and a really nice clean store.

Better choices and less expensive than Ralphs, Love $ 5 Fridays. Don’t know what improvement they made, but I stopped being electroshocked in the store. I like the ambiance. They have a better selection of food than other stores and their $ 5 Friday deals are pretty good. It’s tough to walk past their bakery section without eyeing the delicious looking desserts. The flower section is nice with quite a variety of plants and flowers. Starbucks at the front door.
