Station 5 Table & Bar

I was really looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews. Let me start from the top. The hostess was clueless. Had no idea about any drinks or specials, and was not helpful at all. The waitress was alright, she really tried, but she had no support from the food runneror hostess. First, they forgot my drink. Everyone else at the table received their drinks and I had to find the waitress after several minutes and ask and she had forgotten; it’s ok everybody is human. So my drink arrived, and it was excellent (the hot gardener). The appetizer squid was mehhh and the shrimp appetizer was good but TINY. The entrees said free cheddar biscuits, but we never got them. My churrasco entrée was supposed to be a 12 – 13 oz steak, and it was definitely under 8oz, possibly 6. Then my friends same exact meal came out with a steak twice the size as mine; lucky me I get half a steak! For $ 25 I should have gone to Sergio’s for their churrasco, I was soooo disappointed. Now water? They don’t even fill your glasses for you. And I had to ask for water. And we asked for more chimichurri and ketchup, but the runner who brought our food out told us he would get it and then he disappeared on us. The owner of the restaurant ended up bringing us water and since we had ordered 5 entrees, we asked for our five cheddar biscuits. They only brought out four, so the five of us had to share. We spent $ 300 and it sucked. Can’t believe I wasted my money and my night out without the kids for this. The flavor of the food was good, but the portions and service were sorely lacking.
And they charged us $ 4 for ICE!!! Wtf is that lmao

What can I say, but simply amazing. Ashley our server was extremely attentive and pleasant. The location is a bit cramp but very warm and welcoming. The food was perfection, from the ahi poke, to the pork shoulder, oh yeah the crab cake were delicious. I will definitely come back here again and again.

Cute location right off of sunset place. Décor is modern-​rustic, loved the look. My friend and I shared the short rib and pork belly tacos and the poutine short rib fries. The tacos were pretty good but the fries were just alright. If you’ve ever had real authentic poutine fries then you’ll be disappointed. Nothing memorable.

Thanks to a buddy giving me a heads up… I was able to sneak in to station 5 during the week (on a Thursday actually) for a quick bite for lunch. Had some delicious Thai fish tacos. The lunch menu is a little small and the portions are as well… But I personally enjoyed it and didn’t find a problem with it. My plate had 3 small tacos made to an order. The fish was so flippen good! I felt it was the perfect amount of light batter and perfect crisp along with great taste! Can’t wait to come back and try something else!

Food is good service is great but super $$$ for what you get. Tacos come in pairs and are TINY for 13 $ you need to order at least 2 pairs to feel satisfied. Tasty but not good enough to come back for that price.

The service was nothing but amazing! And the food was spectacular! I had the pork tacos and fried chicken tacos… mouth watering amazing! I went on a Saturday at 2p and they had brunch specials and $ 5 mimos or a $ 25 carafe of mimo or sangria. Would definitely come back again !

Ate here last night, early dinner. The food is flavorful, but the portions are small and it’s somewhat on the pricier side (although not outrageous, it is expensive). Had guacamole and chips, tacos and pork shoulder.
The guacamole is good: you can taste lots of flavors and lots of lime. Bacon is mixed in if you want. It’s served with corn chips that are nice and thin, not greasy.
The tacos are very flavorful, fresh ingredients are used. Had the fried chicken tacos and the sriracha shrimp tacos. Chicken tacos came with pickled red onions — the perfect accompaniment to the crunchy chicken. The shrimp tacos are excellent and spicy, served with some cabbage slaw to counteract the spice. Two tacos for $ 12 each and you can’t mix them up. Tacos are small in portion size. Tiny.
Pork shoulder was a small portion, tender, good flavor but our piece was exceptionally fatty (but, I understand that’s the cost of this cut of meat). Served on a bed of polenta with Brussel sprouts that were so minimal in quantity and shaved down so thinly, they were barley identifiable (but did add good flavor).
Space wise — it’s a narrow restaurant that’s tiny. The bar is nice, well stocked, and takes up the majority of the space. The tables are so small, and crowded because the cocktail menus are placed on top of the tables, and so are large glass water bottles. There’s no room for this at this restaurant, where space is an issue, so they shouldn’t crowd the tables.
Overall: good, flavorful food, small portions and overpriced for the quantity of food that you get on your plate. We will go back (when we are less hungry) but probably order lots of tacos and share, rather than spending $ 30 on an entrée that’s small.

Riquísimo!!! Delicious ! If you like yummy food, artisan cocktails & fast service you’ll love this small, cute & quaint establishment. Came here with my hubby for tapas & cocktails. We had no reservations, the hostess sat us promptly. A jovial waiter came, offered the daily specials & recommended his favorite dishes. We ordered the spicy margarita & the mule both delicious!
The Octopus with Brussels sprouts, Tuna Poke, the short-​rib taco & Thai fish taco. All the dishes came out fast but not all at once, they were nicely paced giving us time to enjoy our meal. They were all delicious but our very favorite was the Octopus. Our entire experience was very pleasant, We’ll definitely be back soon to try some of their other dishes.

$ 5 normally doesn’t get you a lot these days but what it will get you at Station 5 during brunch hours is a fire ass Bloody Mary or mimosa. Que, que? That’s right!!! FIRE. I was throwing them puppies back when I went for brunch recently and it was a heavenly combo with my tacos. The space itself is small but with enough seats to maintain a nice atmosphere. The food was great and I can definitely see myself coming back for brunch again.

We had been here before a few times and it was a 5-​star experience for breakfast/​brunch on the weekend. However, we were surprised to see many changes that took place.
The first — how about no dam regular good ‘ol coffee in the morning??? You MUST get a latte or some other BS coffee drink! This is a straight up move to make money as they don’t give you refills on those drinks.
Next, the menu has changed — not only in some crappy font printed on fancy paper that makes it seem like the ink is almost out. Luckily, it isn’t hard to see the $ 15 they want for 2 eggs, potatoes and toast OR bacon. Wait a second — yes, you read right, it says you can have toast OR bacon — WTF???
I reached out to friends who recommended this place to us and heard that they now only go for drinks every so often. The chef who was there is gone, so I am super glad we didn’t order the overpriced food as we would have likely been disappointed.
Why ONE star? The servers were sweet — even as I explained we were leaving and not to try making American coffee out of an espresso machine — that is the only reason you’re getting one star here Station 5.

We devoured the food before I could take pictures! We ordered the grilled octopus, the crispy avocado, the short rib tacos, the fish tacos and a drunken blueberry donut for dessert. Really unique flavors & the food was delicious. The crispy avocado tasted almost like mushrooms. It was really good! My husband ordered a mule to drink. It was good, not too sweet. My husband can’t wait to go back. I liked it but I think I’d rather try somewhere new before going back.

This place is really cute inside. Love the décor and vibe.
The service is outstanding, both from our server and the manager. We ordered several of the tapa style plates and a few specialty cocktails.
The best thing we tried was the octopus, it was really delicious.
The fish tacos were good, the sauce was yummy but nothing to brag about.
The ahi poke tuna was just ok in our opinion.
We did not care for th short rib tacos at all. The seasoning of the meat wasn’t that good plus it was really salty.
For the specialty drinks the spicey margarita was good (not the best but it was decen), the honey and ginger martini was just ok and the Gardner drink that’s has whisky, basil and cayenne we didn’t like.

Came here for brunch as a Plan B and it was a decent experience. Brunch menu with $ 5 drink specials or $ 25 mimosa carafe. Not bad.
I called ahead & they said the wait was about 5 minutes, so I went ahead and put my name down and got there in 5 minutes. We had to wait another 5 minutes, but that’s still pretty good on a Sunday morning looking for brunch. Seating inside is pretty tight, but they have a bar area and outdoor seating if you prefer.
I ended up getting the pulled pork burger. It was flavorful and the meat was tender. The fries were a little overdone, but not a deal-​breaker. My date had ordered a regular cheeseburger. The bun the burgers came on was actually pretty damn good and worth me coming back. It was a little large for the cheeseburger patty though.
My biggest gripe was that for a table of two, the food took wayyyy too long to come out. Even with a party of 4 next to us who were able to order, send a dish back, and receive the correct dish all before we even got our food. The server was nice and kept insuring that the food was on its way out. To make up for it, they comped half the bill, which was great without us having to even mention or complain about anything.
Overall decent experience. I’ll keep it on my list of Brunch spots to return to and actually try some of their signature tacos.

This place is adorable! Extremely small inside, but very quaint and cozy. The atmosphere is rustic, like a hole in the wall bar you would find up in the Northeast.
I came here with a friend on a Friday night. We were able to catch the happy hour just in time, which is from 4−7p. The menu looks fantastic. Lots of tasty and unique style dishes. We opted just for an appetizer and a couple drinks. The happy includes $ 5 well drinks, house wine, and select beers. I chose the well drink, my guest went with a $ 13 handcrafted cocktail. The drinks were good, but you can’t really screw up a vodka soda too badly.
We went with the tuna tartar to nibble on. Overall, delicious! Great flavors and unlike any other tuna tartar I’ve had. It was a bit pricey, $ 15 for an appetizer portion. I noticed overall the prices were a bit high for their dishes, but everything looked great as a I saw the waiters walk by with trays.
I intend to come back and have a meal here. I would even be interested to see how their brunch is, especially with the luring idea of unlimited mimosas as an option. They seem to always be busy, so something must be bringing the people back for more!

My only complaint is that I didn’t come here sooner. First, they have a lot of Gluten-​Free options which is key because my daughter has a gluten intolerance and there aren’t a lot of good restaurants that have a decent gluten free menu.
First, you have to get the guacamole. I like the bacon guacamole, who wouldn’t? My wife prefers the cilantro shrimp guac. I’m not a huge cilantro fan, but I still like this. They serve with boniato chips and it’s simple and great.
Next get the tuna. It’s fresh ahi chunks with sweet ponzu sauce. Really tasty.
Lastly for the first course, we tried to order the butternut squash balsamic soup a few times and were denied because it sells out quick. Last time we went however there was some left and it was worth the wait. Very good soup.
Now for the bigger stuff. I love the tacos. All of them. But if I have to chose my 2 favorites are the general Tso pork belly taco, I can’t even write that without my mouth watering, and the braised short rib taco with brussel sprouts and Cheetos. I know that sounds like a weird combo, but it works so perfectly. The sweet and savory short rib with the bitter and salty sprouts and the crunchy cheesy Cheetos in a soft taco is magical.
I’ve also had the pork shoulder with polenta. The flavor was 100%.
The only thing that could be better is the dessert. The brownie we had was very good but it was a little anticlimactic after the culinary wonderment that preceded it. The dessert options were also limited as well. They also have a limited but decent beer menu. They had wynwood brewings La Rubia and Pop’s Porter which I love, but I feel like a place like this should have a few more local selections to chose from.

Came here with a large group of friends. It was great that they took reservations because the place is small. My partner in crime and I were not that hungry so we decided on sharing the crispy tofu tacos. The quinoa salad was very small for the $ 11.00 price tag and it was bland. The tofu tacos were not impressive at all either. The tofu was supposed to me crispy and they came out with no color and again not much flavor and barely any tofu. I was really excited to try these after seeing a picture that Megan D had posted. Unfortunately ours didn’t look anything like that. The only upside about this place is the service.

Kowabunga Holmes! By 8 pm they were sold out of the Burger and the Guacamole… And thank God! The Short Rib and Cheetos tacos are the best this 50 year old man have ever had… EVER!!! The Pork Belly Mac and Cheese is like non other I’ve had… And the Old Fashioned was perfection…
See you next week Station 5… WOW! Foodgasm!!!

The restaurant itself is small, cute and intimate. The service was also good. Those were the pluses.
But if I could describe my experience with the food at Station 5 in one word, it would be: SALTY! Everything tastes heavy and salty. There was no balance to the pork belly tacos, the pulled pork tacos, or the poutine with beef and gravy on top. Just salt, salt, and more salt. I left here with my stomach feeling so full and yet so unsatisfied that I had to go eat somewhere else just to fill the empty void I had in my belly. I had to apologize to my date for my crappy choice and felt like I just murdered both our images of tacos for good… I have faith that I will recover from this after I go sweat the salt out of my body in the steam room and listen to Morgan Freeman on audio tape repeating that «tacos are your friend, not your salty enemy».

Station 5 is fine, but I wouldn’t put it in the ‘outstanding’ category — particularly when you take into account the tons of great restaurants within a stone’s throw of this eatery. There are so many options in the Sunset area of South Miami that it doesn’t particularly stand out. Another downside is that’s it’s quite expensive relative to what you get in both quantity and quality versus some surrounding eateries.
However, I will say that the service is good, and it features a fairly innovative ‘New American’ menu with some global touches. Of particular note are their tacos, for which they are the most well known. Of particular note were the Braised Short Rib, Pulled Pork and Sriracha Shrimp versions. More traditional condiments and spicing, like papaya and peanuts are joined by more whimsical choices like Cheetos (on the pulled pork).
The environment is pleasant (if a bit loud) and the service was very friendly. Overall, it’s definitely a worthwhile visit, even if not the best in the area.

Ah Sundays are for Brunch, and today we wanted to try something new. Unilocaling our way through the search fields in South Miami we decided to try Station 5, a relatively new place that replaced a dreadful Sip Wine bar.
It was hotter than the sun so we decided to sit inside, where the a/​c was blowing nicely and we were greeted warmly by the hostess. Took a glance at the menu, was a bit shocked the prices were a bit higher than expected for the food. we ordered, and also ordered unlimited sangrias/​mimosas/​bloody marys for $ 15 per person.
The drinks came, and went quickly. Unfortunately the mimosas are premixed and the ratio of orange juice to champagne is almost 99:1. Quickly switched to Sangria where this one packed a little punch. Kudos.
I ordered Pain de Francais — french baguettes/​cinnamon toast crunch. Not a new concept, but wanted to taste their take and was very much disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the portion was good enough and the baguettes were made nicely, but the topping of the plate was just thrown on. Like if the chef opened the bag and shook the squares simply all over. No creativity! How about grinding the cereal to a powder, almost breading the baguettes? Not the $ 14 I was hoping for.
The Eggs & Hash was hearty. Nice sized skillet/​bowl of eggs, bacon, potato on a bed of salad. Decent, nothing great, but not bad either.
Overall, spending over $ 70 on brunch I expect to have great tasting food that’s appealing and nice little buzz walking me out. Neither happened.
There’s lots of room for improvement on this new place. Not willing to take the risk though.
