My love for food is in the family. Home in Louisiana I grew up watching my mom work her magic in the kitchen, bringing together a roux in a giant pot for her gumbo or scooping heaping spoonfuls of hush puppies out of the oil on the stove. I’d tag along with my dad to the seafood restaurant he managed, shadowing his every move from shucking oysters to butterflying shrimp. Southern food will always nourish my soul and serving up a taste of the South to my California friends is one of my favorite things about my move out west.

In addition to culinary classes from community colleges and local programs, I traveled to Italy and Spain to take instructional cooking classes while immersed in the culture, flavors and spirit. My time in Italy led to the start of my Pasta Parties and the continuation of Italian pasta-​making traditions and recipes!​

More than anything I love to make people happy with food!

Arica was awesome! I hired her to cook breakfast/​brunch for a bachelorette party in a rental house in Tahoe. She was great throughout the entire process. She was very responsive to my inquiries and worked out a great menu for our group. I gave her an idea of what I had in mind and she developed the perfect brunch. She arrived on time and was busy cooking before many of the girls had even woken up. The food was delicious and she cleaned the kitchen better than it was before she arrived. I would not hesitate calling her again!

Arica is amazing and I highly recommend her. She is a true professional in the kitchen and makes it fun. The dinner she made for us (and we assisted kind of) was brown butter Gnocchi with butternut squash, Arugula with roasted beet salad, herb roasted chicken breasts and we finished it off with lemon posset Parfait-​yum and I got the leftovers and she cleans up.

Fantastic.
I had 11 friends up in a ski cabin for the weekend and was able to surprise them with breakfast at the house before hitting up the Heavenly slopes. Arica made us a full breakfast menu and bloody mary bar that was absolutely delicious. She came in early to get things cooking, so that people literally woke up to the smell of think-​cut peppered bacon. Everything was super tasty, but the cinnamon butter she made for our pancakes was life altering.

Arica is AMAZING. We had a week long company retreat in Oct. and hired Yummy Fixins to make lunch and dinner every day for our group of 35. It was the best decision we made the whole trip. She created a delicious, filling menu for the week, that accommodated all of us, even our vegetarians and one fella with a tree nut allergy. The best part was that I didn’t have to worry about anything. She showed up to the rental house each day and took care of everything, even all the dishes! She even did grocery and booze runs for us and took care of finding a large coffee maker for us to rent for the week. At the end of the week, everyone was asking me if we could fly her to wherever our next retreat is. I can’t recommend her enough!

We used Arica for a physician retreat. She is absolutely amazing. She performed the shopping and the cooking and everything was just terrific. Timely, professional and a great personality. All of the doctors asked for her business card and we will definitely use her again the next time we have a retreat in Tahoe. 5 stars all the way!

Arica is a phenomenal chef. I have had the lucky experience of tasting her culinary genius four times now. The first two times, my boyfriend surprised me by having Arica make us a four course meal at our home while we were out. When we arrived, the table was beautifully set with a professional menu describing our meal. The kitchen was spotless, and she left us with brief instructions of how to proceed with our fare. She left us to our romantic privacy to savor our meal. The third time I experienced her cooking was at a wedding that she catered. She prepared brunch hors d’oeuvres and an Italian-​themed lunch that everyone raved about. She pays attention to details like having beautifully presented infused water available. The fourth time I’ve experienced her talent was at a small supper party. It’s was like eating at a five star restaurant, and she ran the whole show by herself! And it was extremely reasonably priced. We paid a fraction of what we would have at a restaurant with a much better aura and experience.
What I haven’t mentioned yet is that I am VEGAN! Arica does not ‘specialize’ in vegan fare however, her vegan dishes are better than anything that I’ve ever tasted at vegan restaurants. Her food tastes decadent, but is made from fresh, healthy, local ingredients and leaves you feeling nourished, rather than overindulgent.
Arguably the best thing about Arica is her personal charm. It feels comfortable having her in your home. She is professional, yet friendly and strives for your enjoyment.

I would love to give Arica 5 stars! She did an absolutely amazing 4 course meal dinner party for my dad’s 70th birthday on July 31st. She arrived earlier than expected to prepare all day for our family party of 12 people. Check out the pix of the food she prepared… The lamb with cherry reduction sauce was out of this world. The scalloped potatoes were the best I ever had! The apps were so tasty and not too heavy. We choose the salad with strawberries, nectarines and goat cheese– whoa! She was very professional, as well as catered to our needs in a pleasant manner. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a proper home chef. We want to utilize her again for another dinner– just need an excuse to book her! You will NOT be disappointed in her food talent/​work.

Arica is amazing!!! She is hands down one of the easiest to work with private chefs/​caterers I have ever worked with. We had her and her team help kick off our family reunion event in Tahoe with a special meal and everyone, I mean, everyone, in this picky family loved the meal. I love to cook. But that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate it when someone else cooks for me. Arica’s skills are clearly way above mine, with varied menus that easily accommodate vegetarians and other dietary considerations. I’ve attended a few of her catered dinners, and have been impressed by the range of influences — from pistachio crusted salmon to a peach appetizer with marscarpone and prosciutto to a kale and apple salad.
She loves what she does, and that is evidenced in her cuisine.

My boyfriend surprised me on Valentine’s Day by hiring Arica to come cook for us at our condo in Tahoe. I was completely surprised and totally blown away by how amazing it was! She prepared a very special meal for us that included a salad, three different types of pastas., and chocolate truffles for dessert. Since my boyfriend is vegetarian, she made sure that the meal included both vegetarian and meat options for me. The menu included angel hair pasta with tomato sausage sauce, pesto gnocchi, and spinach ravioli with ricotta. Neither of us have much experience cooking, and Arica was able to walk us through the entire process. She brought all of the ingredients and all of the equipment that was required to make the pasta. We had so much fun working together to make the different dishes, and enjoyed Arica’s company in the process. Everything turned out delicious! Arica even gave us all of the recipes so that we could try making the dishes at home as well. I would highly recommend Yummy Fixins for a fun date night — it was really a memorable experience and we both learned how to make something new!

During the holidays my daughter and a friend were on their winter break and home from college, so my husband and I decided to have a pasta party with the 4 of us. We all love to cook, but none of us knew how to make pasta. We chose 2 pastas from the menu, gnocchi with pesto and spinach raviolis. Arica brought all the ingredients and equipment that we needed, which even included eggs from her own hens. Arica gave us step by step instructions on what to do. We all had a fabulous time! Arica is very professional, as well as being a very sweet girl.
Having a pasta party is a wonderful alternative to going out to dinner. The two college girls were making plans to make pasta for their friends when they got back to school, and I have made the gnocchi with pesto twice since Arica taught us how to make it.
I would highly recommend the pasta party to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.

Yummy Fixins, Chef Arica, was absolutely fantastic. We had a private party for 20 people and Chef Arica did an amazing job planning and creating the menu. Arica exceeded any expectations. Everyone was so impressed with the menu. Everything was delicious. I had absolutely no stress as Arica planned, shopped, set up and prepared everything. Thank you again for everything! Arica catered my wedding of 100 this September and it was amazing. We wanted to have a Spanish menu with tapas appetizers. Arica worked with us to plan a great menu that fit our culinary tastes to a tee. It was creative, vegetarian friendly, and delicious. Cider soaked chorizo bites — OMG.
Arica did a great job with every step of the process — planning, budgeting/​shopping, presentation and running the kitchen during the big event. I had complete confidence that she could handle anything that came up, which is huge for a bride. The guests loved the food — I got tons of compliments during and after the wedding. I can’t recommend her enough!

Yummy Fixins catered my rehearsal dinner and I wished I had hired them for my reception as well. The food was so good, my guests grabbed rehearsal dinner leftovers after the wedding reception because their food was so much better than the other caterer! Arica is extremely efficient, creative, well rounded, and will deliver the best menu possible for your budget. It takes a huge weight off a brides, or event organizers shoulders to have Arica involved — you know she is ‘on it’ and everything will be just right. Highly recommend Yummy Fixins for any type of party or event!
