This is the 2nd Video Library opened. The original opened in Grass Valley, CA in 1985. There is also now a 3rd store in Minden, NV. Going above and beyond for the customer is what we do best. Special orders, reservations, suggestions, deals, fun promotions, etc…

Truly a piece of the forgotten past. You do not see very many video rental stores anymore, and a name like Video Library is wonderful. This place is a treasure trove of rare finds. Could use al arger animé selection, but great overall!

Blech! One star for having new releases out on Friday. It sucks that we have to settle for less in Tahoe. Lower our standards, and put up with lousy customer service. Just because it is covenient, and lacks competition. You would think they would try harder being that these kind of establishments will soon be obsolete. Thank God for Apple TV. Most of the girls (posers) that work here need to be slapped with their precious BluRays. I hope your Unilocaled out of Tahoe you snot nosed brats!

We Tahoeians are so fortunate to have this gem of a video store.
Super friendly staff always willing to help.
They have a FABULOUS selection of movies and they are all very well organized.
They have games and contests that are always fun to join in.
If they don’t have a movie you can ask them to order it.
I have no complaints about this video store.

Biggest Video store I have ever been in and it is stocked from floor to ceiling with movies, including the hard to find ones. Their employees were really helpful and they seemed like they really like their job. No complaints here!

Since Lake Tahoe is pretty limited on all the «amenities» of a city, you’ll probably have trouble finding a video store. Video Library has the best selection in the area, although it doesn’t have many other stores to rival. Vid Lib keeps the small-​store mentality and has a lot of perks, free rentals every ten rentals, holiday and anniversary discounts, and they sell previously viewed copies of their DVDs for fair prices.
If you’re like me and appreciate classics/​cult classics, there is a trove of unusual finds at this store. They occasionally offer a request list, where they will try to bring in titles that aren’t in the store already. I can’t get a lot of this at Blockbuster. The employees are laid back and friendly, and they have their own shelves of recommended titles. Show them some love and give them a shot.

If you’re a local then you’re lucky to have video library. If you’re just visiting for a few days and don’t get mail to a local address this is not the place for you.
My boyfriend and I came here because his local spot, Video Maniacs, apparently closed down. We didn’t want to go to blockbuster so we sought out another local video shop.
we were hella stoked on this place when we walked in. it’s HUGE! we perused the aisles and found three videos we liked. unfortunately, we were gravely let down when we went to check out.
the woman behind the counter informed us that in order to sign up for an account we’d have to receive local mail, and if we didn’t we’d have pay a deposit for each movie that amounted to 90 $ not including the rental fees. what kind of local shit is this?
we sorta laughed at ourselves and at video library as we made our way to blockbuster…

Who needs Netflix when you’ve got a Video Library in your ‘hood? I’ll admit that I’m not a prolific renter of movies, but when I do, I tend towards the old (Steve McQueen action flicks, old musicals, random foreign films) or the stupid comedies (Arrested Development anyone?). So having a keeping-​it-​real yet eclectic video store a few minutes from my house (the Google maps is quite off on this one… as it has been for a number of locations in South Lake Tahoe, but that’s a whole ‘nuther review) makes for increased movie watching.
Admittedly VL doesn’t carry 87 copies of every new release (like its franchise brethren), but it does make up for it with an enormous assortment of films, from cult to drama to classic to childrens to games. And it’s rates are reasonable — from $ 2 — $ 3.75 for 3 night rentals. So go help those pierced-​and-​tattooed employees out and rent a flick (or three) from them tonight.
