My 6 year old just got his first stitches here, he did not even cry during the procedure. I asked my son today if he wanted me or the doctor to remove them… his look was priceless saying the doctor, definitely because he doesn’t hurt! Thanks a lot Dr Hoefer!

New to Tahoe, went to «Tahoe Urgent Care Family Medicine» and I never even got seen by the doctor. I had to drive to Carson to be treated with the respect one would deserved. My husband Gary and I live to serve in the «Missions Field» and we have never felt more judged without ever being seen.
Very Unexpected and Very Disappointed…

I saw these guys after a fall on the ski slope. They were great. Wait time wasn’t bad, like 30 mins. And the doctor was knowledgable and helpful.
–1 star because I had to have a copy of my health insurance card on my person, which is silly. It’s not like there’s a bar code on those things or anything, and I knew all the numbers, but they refused to take my insurance without the card, so I had to pay $ 150 up front. I’ve been to many medical offices and never run into that before.
Otherwise great!

I was just refused medical care because I didn’t have a physical copy of my insurance. I don’t have a physical copy because I just moved and had to re enroll in healthcare and I’m waiting for my card. This is unacceptable. The person at the front desk treated me like a stray dog. I’m sorry the government forced me to get a new card. I have insurance and have had insurance for years now and I’ve never been refused care. This place should be shut down on this policy alone.

Woke up and was in a lot of discomfort and pain. Went to Tahoe Urgent Care. I was greeted by friendly staff and they took my kaiser insurance which was great! I waited less than five minutes and the doctors assistant was a very sweet lady and made me feel comfortable. The clinic was clean, sterile and organized.
Dr Mehrens is great! He came in right away, I didn’t have to wait for him at all which is so nice when you are in a lot of pain. Dr. Mehrens was very thorough which was important to me since I’m pregnant and was worried about the medication I needed. He went over what treatment he thought I needed and symptoms that are red flags of when to go to the emergency room. He was extremely pleasant and even gave me some good advice to go over with my primary doctor that might stop this type of infection from reoccurring.
Overall I was in and out of the office in 30 min or less. I work in an urgent care clinic and know that wait times can go slow so I was very impressed.

We were apprehensive about going to an unfamiliar doctor away from home but needed medical care. Our insurance company gave us a few urgent care centers that we could use. After checking the reviews we weren’t too impressed with any of them but decided on Tahoe Urgent Care. When we called the staff was courteous, friendly and made us feel a little more at ease. When we asked how long the wait was, the receptionist told us that it would be at least an hour which it was primarily because it is an urgent care center in a vacation location and there are no appointments. The registration process was easy. When we were called into the exam room the nurse, Holly, was also very courteous, professional and made us feel that we had been there before. After the results of the test, Dr. Mehrens came in and went over the lab results. He was also very friendly, courteous, professional and also made us feel that we have been his patients before. He not only explained the various medications to treat the infection but also explained the various side effects associated with each medication. We found him very up to date on all the medicines. After explaining everything to us and recommending the medicine he would use and the reasons why, he asked our opinion and which one we would be comfortable with. Naturally we went with his suggestion. If we lived in Tahoe, Dr. Mehrens would be our GP and the first one we would look to for treatment.
The review is based on the service, the attitude of his entire staff and not on the wait time.

I have to say that I am shocked at the one star reviews! I had excellent care at this urgent care facility. We were in town for the Valhalla Faire, and I’d been treating an eye infection for the previous week. I had a bad reaction to the drops and went in to see the doc on Friday afternoon at about 4pm.
The receptionist was friendly and helpful. I was in an exam room within 30 – 40 minutes of arrival.
The nurse I saw was thorough, friendly, and empathetic.
The doctor was kind, friendly and attentive. He listened to me, then gave me a thorough eye exam and made sure there were no injuries to the eye. Then he changed my prescription.
I’ve been an uninsured patient for most of the last 10 years, which means that I pretty much depend on Urgent Cares for my care. I don’t have a primary doctor. This was one of the better Urgent Care experiences I’ve had in a long while. It’s been a long time since a doctor treated me with respect and empathy and took his time to examine and treat me. The only thing I feel bad about is that I can’t remember his name — he was older and he was wearing a green sweater. Really nice guy. Good doctor.
I’d use this facility again.

Not feeling well, you would think a doctors office would be accommodating. I didn’t even get to see the doctor bc the secretary was so unhelpful and very rude — ended up walking out

The only reason I am giving this place any stars is because of Dr. Meherens. He is a descent Doctor. However, the front desk girl is absolutely terrible who comes across ridged and heartless. I myself am a doctors assistant and never have I ever not only experienced such terrible service but bad treatment as a human. You have to wait for days, which would be understanding if more patients were there at that time. I know it can be busy but Jesus! 2 hours before got even get to see the doctor? It’s almost like I will never go back there as long as the same eye rolling, condescending and disrespectful receptionist is there. Stateline Urgent Care it is!

I just toook my daughter to see the doctor with a really bad ear problem. When we arrived at 5:40pm, both receptionists rolled their eyes at each other like it was a problem for us being there so close to them closing. The receptionist behind the glass said they were done taking patients for the day. It was 20 more minutes before they closed but they informed us they had too much paperwork to do to see my daughter. I suggest if you are sick, go to someplace that cares, these doctors obviously don’t.

This review is based on two separate visits with two very different doctors. Dr. Mehrens was wonderful, and I will only go to this facility when he is on duty. HOWEVER, Dr. Hoefer was incredibly condescending, presumptuous, and he did not listen to a word I said. I’ve never experienced such an unprofessional doctor visit. I waited over two and a half hours just to be insulted and lectured by this doctor. It left me speechless and in tears. Doctor Hoefer has a thing or two to learn about patients with GAD/​SAD.
Five stars for Dr. Mehrens, NO stars for Dr. Hoefer, and two stars for the staff. If I ever need another urgent care visit because my Barton doctor is booked up for the day, I’ll be going to the Stateline, NV urgent care.

I gave three stars based on two separate visits and two opposite experiences.
1. Dr Henning Mehrens is great. He is very helpful and sweet and patient. He got us in and out very quickly.
2. However, dr john something was so rude and condescending. He treated my husband and I like children and lectured me about things I already knew. He continued to laugh at me condescendingly and then commented that we looked like 12 year olds. Well thanks you unprofessional jerk, but we are both successful 25 year olds who don’t appreciate being treated like children. On top of that he told me to sip my liquid antibiotic throughout the day. What? That makes no sense. Irresponsible advice.
It’s a roll of the dice here. You may get a great dr, you may get a quack. Good luck.

If I could put 0 stars I would. I’m a south Lake Tahoe local and have been here multiple times. I have never waited under and hr and a half to get seen by the doctor (there was only one today and it was the weekend) got there right when it opened and I still had to wait about two hours in excruciating pain on the verge of tears in the waiting room. When I finally got seen the doctor rushed as fast as he could (even tho he took 2 hrs on the 3 people before me), and even tho I told him my Advil doesn’t work on me and neither does vikodin, he prescribed me the lowest grade pain pill he could. He profiled me as a drug addict when I’m just in an insane amount of pain. I do not advocate doctors over prescribing, I think it is a huge problem we have in America, but when somebody is obviously in excruciating pain like me and you just blatantly don’t care after I waited two hours to get care… not okay. When I called back to ask what I can do he told me that he can’t do anything for me and I need to go see a chiropractor, even tho I tried and there were no available appointments, and won’t be open again until Monday. Worst urgent care ever. If you must go, go during the week. You’ll still probably have to wait a long time but at least you won’t be profiled and mistreated.

Only Go to this DR. If its your ONLY OPTION or LAST RESORT
This dr is RUDE, IMPATIENT, AND INCONSIDERATE OF YOUR FEELINGS
He is in a hurry to rush you out. (i went in on a non busy day, with only one patient in the waiting room)
I had a Fish hook stuck in the back of my head, and the Dr. did not care how it went in my head and was simply going to RIP IT OUT! Not to mention he could hardly see what i was talking about, having to squint and get a magnifying glass to even see. I was panicking, even though it was a little issue, but the Dr. s inconsiderate rude attitude made it worse. Not to mention the CHP voodoo doll on top of a cabinet stuck with hooks.
I ended up LEAVING, not trusting the care or expertise of this Dr.
I went to Barton just a min or two away. There everyone was very nice, told funny jokes and listened patiently to me. They asked when i had my last tetanus shot, and ended up giving me one of those. Which is important because dirty metal in your skin could end up causing a pretty bad infection.
The Dr. was very knowledgeable and considerate. He used a hollow needle and placed it over the barb, so the hook could come out the same way it went in and did not leave a huge hole.
I really hope that you get the care you need if you have to go here. Issues big and small a Dr. Should be compassionate to your issue. Sometimes small things can turn into bigger problems if not cared for properly. For example the Dr. does not set a bone correctly if it is broken, did not give you the right kind of shot if needed or forgets to prescribe the correct medicine, all because he did not listen to his patients.
But just know this Dr is not up to par. Can not see very well, is rude, and not a very caring Dr. So don’t expect to get great CARE here.
It should be called RAPID DARE… i dare you to go there. enter at your own risk.

Dr Mehrens was great with our two young daughters with their colds and earaches. The office was a bit slow and got crowded on the day we went.

Terribke service and rude. The receptionist did not smile and the doctor there is so impatient. Its like they just want to get rid of you. My daughter went in with her broken finger from a while ago and she tried explaining what was going on and all he could do is say sorry and talk over her. He also would not xray finger either.
We left very dissatisfied. Did not want to give a star but I guess I will give one.
We ended up going to ER and received excellent service and xrays and found out what was going on with her hand.

Dr. Mehrens is a great physician, knew immediately what was going on and picked up on a condition that most doctors miss on a single visit. Very knowledgeable and experienced, we’re new to the area and he will now be our primary care doc.
Also runs an appointment only office nearby on 960 Tahoe Keys Blvd, Wed. only.

I can’t say enough good things about Tahoe Urgent Care! While on vacation last week, my poor boyfriend came down with a terrible case of the stomach flu, and we were tent camping, not very close to the restroom! Its got so bad we took him to Tahoe Urgent Care where they were so patient and kind, letting him wait for his appointment in the restroom and then promptly giving him some anti-​nausea medicine. They also gave him a prescription which I went to go fill-​and they let him wait in the exam room until I got back because he was so weak. I’ve never heard of a doctor doing that. I was so blown away by the amount of care they had for him. I really couldn’t recommend them more.

I went to the urgent care and was pleasantly surprised by the caring and attentiveness of the doctor. Dr. Mehrens was very kind and thorough. He was very concerned with my condition, called to check on me and made sure I was seen by a specialist immediately-​even when that office said it would be a two week wait. I felt he went out of his way to make sure my situation received the proper immediate care.
I truly appreciated the level of care and concern!

Quality care that’s efficient and cheap… why go to the hospital, unless it’s something major? I never will, now that I’ve been here… once for a dog bite, twice for just being really sick. Pleasant experiences every time…
