A memorable event… Love to fish with my Dad. He is in heaven now so this place brought back amazing memories… I would return again & again!

Great place for kids to get the «fishing bug». Guarantee to catch a trout! It is a beautiful trout farm with everything you need. Friendly and helpful staff. My 10 year old son and 12 year old daughter even got to «gut» their fish.
My only critique is the cost ! I paid 55 $ for 4 trout and 5 $ tip. Be aware and tell your kids they have a limit:)

Very very friendly owners and workers. A nice place to go fishing without the need of having your own equipment and license. You can save your trout overnight to pick up whenever you leave if you are from out of town.
They were even nice enough to give us a few more trout when we picked them up. Its a great place, they donate the fish to the homeless if people decide not to keep them. Win win for everyone.

This is a great place. We stopped here with our 3 and 5 year olds and they had a blast. The owner, Jim, is a super nice guy and runs a great business. Everything was beautifully landscaped, there was nice shade, good seating while you wait for a fish to hook on, and lots of cute touches that made for great photo opportunities. We fished in the «whopper pond» where the larger trout are, and the water is crystal clear. They clean the trout for a small fee ($ 1) and pack them on ice. We brought ours home to BBQ, but you can also donate it and its is given to the homeless or local orphaned bears. They even provided us recipes so we would know what to do. A great experience and really fun for the kids!

My friends and I (Mary F., below, included) turned up in the middle of the pouring rain, when the sky was gray and the entire area was empty. The owners were still incredibly kind and gracious, taught us how to cast and reel in the fish, and threw in packing the fish on ice for free.
If you have never fished before, or if you have small children, this is a great opportunity to fish without spending a ton of money or going to great lengths to get out on the water and figure things out. The owners are gracious, friendly, and helpful, and they’ll do their best to make sure you have a good time.

If you feel a little outdoorsy, don’t want to get a fishing license and wake up at the crack of dawn, freeze your butt off to go sports fishing in Tahoe, come here.
Definitely very kid friendly and free bait and rods, this is my kind of fishing. The owner and his wife are incredibly welcoming and friendly. They give you a bucket, worms for bait, and a metal rod to whack the fish, and a rod and off you go! You pay for what you catch and they clean it for you for $ 1 each fish.
I was pretty horrified watching some over eager little boys beat the fish to death a few more times than needed. But hey, we should appreciate how food makes it to our plates right?

This was a fantastic experience! I’d never fished before and had no idea what I was doing, but they were super helpful and walked me through everything. And it was such a thrill, catching my first fish! Definitely recommend.

Kids had a great time! Caught 3 and kids (twin 3 year olds) were so proud. Owner was super nice and the nice guy that cleans fish was so quick. He was great with the kids and our kids were not even freaked out to watch (which surprised me!). The bonking was a it creepy but the guys would’ve done it if we’d asked. Tip: bring a little cooler with you– they will pack them in ice for you.

Family atmosphere if you don’t catch any fish in the lake come here and you’re guaranteed to catch a fish in 10 minutes. They will clean your fish for a dollar and then they will pack your fish on ice for you. The farm is very clean and if you do not have a fishing pole they will provide one for you. I love this place and they treat you like family can’t wait to come back.

We had such a lovely family experience here! After 3 solid beach days, we were looking for something campy to do with the kids and after a quick Unilocal search this seemed like the best option. My 3 year old was just beside himself when we told him we were going to take him fishing, he was so excited! We pulled up at about 11am on a Thursday in Summer and the place was practically empty. We were greeted by the super friendly owner who gave us the run down on how everything works, basically you only pay for what you catch and just a heads up, there is a no catch & release policy, once the fish is caught you are paying for it, you don’t have to take it home, but it’s gonna die, so prepare your kids. Mine freaked out a bit, so we took a walk while Daddy got the fish cleaned.
You are provided however many poles you want and a bucket with bait and supplies. There are nets stationed around the pond for everyone to share. There’s not much shade, so bring your dopiest fishing hat. After you catch the fish, you bring it up to the counter, where it’s measured and you are charged. You can take it home on ice whole or tip a staffer to clean it for you. The staff will also put your fish on a pole and take a cute family photo if you like, free. They also sell cute kids t-​shirts, of which I was tempted to buy, but at $ 15, nawh …
Anyways, a really fun activity for the family. Maybe the fish is a rip off, but it tasted great later that night and the memories last a life time! Gonna make this an annual stop for every Tahoe trip. Thanks Tahoe Trout Farm!

My dad used to bring me here when I was a kid in the 80s. I brought my kids here last summer. It only takes a few minutes to catch a fish. Sometimes the kids like to go to Sawmill pond, but it’s not a guaranteed catch. We caught 2 rainbrow trout, cleaned and filet. And it was $ 30.
It’s just like when we were kids. Place hasn’t changed. During the week, there is a farmers market down the street too.

These guys are great! A fun time for the family and simple enough for first timers. The price they charge depends on the length of the fish. This isn’t a catch and release place. The cleaning guy is very knowledgeable and was willing to show my son how to do it. So exciting! Thank you so much xx

We came here several years ago and it was great. A bit expensive, but perfect for kids because you are pretty much guaranteed to catch fish. Last week we stopped by just before closing and the owner told us it was too late and to come back the next day. Our fault for sure, we got there a few minutes before 6:00. Today we pulled up at 5:20. We only planned to keep a couple of fish so we knew we wouldn’t be there long. Every review, and our own past experience, told us that we could be done in under 15 min. We started unloading and saw the owner sitting in a chair near the parking lot watering the grass. He saw us but did not approach or say anything. Once we got everyone out my husband started hunting for some of our gear. My son got a new pole and wanted to use it. As they were doing that I said to the owner, «We have about 30 – 35 minutes, right?» To which he rudely replied, «NO!» At first I thought he was joking, but when he didn’t say anything I asked if he was serious he said he was and that we need to get there by 5:00 if we want to fish (even though they advertise, and he admitted that he closes at 6:00)! He ranted a bit about how they had a big delivery and were stocked that morning and had been busy all day. He mentioned that he had made «thousands of dollars» and that he had had already told his guys to go home for the day. I took this to mean he didn’t need/​want our business. He then told us again to «come back tomorrow.» I mentioned that we didn’t need long and that we could take the fish and clean them on our own to which he replied again, «NO!!» I then told my husband and we started to load back up. I told him that it seemed like bad business and that it may not matter to him but he would be getting a bad Unilocal review from me. That’s when he started YELLING at me about all the good he does in the community blah blah blah… My husband came over to see why he was yelling and it ended with him telling us not to come back! He won’t have to worry about that!
I have no doubt that he does good in the community, and I’m sure he had a busy day, but he certainly should have handled things differently! If he had just came over and told us he was closing early and apologized for it we would have been disappointed, but we would have come back. The fact that he was getting angry with us and speaking to us like we were idiots («What are you going to do? Catch a fish and clean it in 5 minutes??? There’s not enough time!!! You don’t have time!!! We’re closing early!!!) That’s the reason for the bad review and the reason we will be letting our friends, family, & Facebook friends know about our experience!

Great experience for the kids. After taking 2 kids fishing on a public lake, half a day and no fish, this was great.

This is fishing 101. Great for kids and first timers. This will let you feel what it’s like to catch a fish. Owner and staff are great. We opted to have our fish prepared at the blue angle café. They did a great job. It gave the boys a great life lesson. I have read reviews talking about it being cruel, they do their best to minimize that. Sorry, but the trout in your local market didn’t get there flying first class.
Could this place be better? Yes.
But for what it is, it’s great. A place to catch fish, easily.

If you never fished before, make sure you stop by here and get your first time experience the best ever.
The owners were super friendly, as if they knew we were newbies and they knew how to deal with newbies. They explain everything to you with patience, and let you do your things, and help you out when you can’t.
We got a 17 inch rainbow trout for $ 19, happily tipping $ 4 for the friendliness and service.
Warning — if you are afraid of killing a fish, it might be difficult for you to catch it, you have to knock out the fish at the end with a metal stick. My bf tried many times and he couldn’t kill it, so I had to help out at the end. Not a very pleasant experience there.

Parking is no problem. Just walk in and Jim will be seated and ready to welcome you to his farm.
Jim explained from beginning to end on how to fish, kill and even cook.
You don’t need to bring anything, they will provide a fishing rod and bait.
You just pay for what you fish and $ 1 for cleaning.
There are two ponds to choose from. (one in the further end has bigger trouts).
Unless you are cooking for a family, the 10″ will be enough for 1 – 2.
If you can’t do something, Jim will help.
— You need to put on the bait (worm or eggs)
— You need to fish the fish
— You need to bonk the fish on the head to make it go to sleep :(
— You need to take the hook out of the fish’s mouth
After that, Jackie will clean the fish for you, take a pic of you with it, and provide you a recipe if you choose to take it home.

This is a cute place to take your family especially if you have little ones. We brought our son here and it was his first time fishing. The owner is such a great guy, he takes the time to explain how the fishing process works, and you can tell he is really passionate about helping the kids catch fish. My son caught two rainbow trout (one 14″ and one 16″). We really enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend bringing the family here, you won’t be dissapointed.

Awesome day activity to do in any group, family or by yourself. The owner is an awesome guy and very helpful with anything you need. They supply the bait and poles and you only pay for the fish you catch. Very nice little pond and outdoor area to sit at. It’s also pet friendly! My boyfriend and I had a great time! We will definitely be back.
