Tahoe Photographic Tours

Hands down the best thing to do in Tahoe! For clarification, the tour guides take professional quality photos of YOU at scenic places, not the other way around … there’s was some confusion on our trip, so now you know. Obviously, you are welcome to take all the personal pics you want, but why bother? These guys got your back.
Anyways … my family has been vacationing in Tahoe for years and my arrogant father was certain that he’d seen everything-​there-​was-​to-​see in Tahoe so when I booked this tour, everyone had their doubts, HAD their doubts … famous last words … because Mike & Robin showed us beautiful places that we didn’t even know existed! Gorgeous scenic beaches and outlooks that were just steps from the car. Even our 3 year old tagged along without any issues. Mike and Robin were incredibly knowledgeable about the area and really fun guides. The cars we traveled in were large and comfortable. Overall an awesome thing to do in Tahoe!

Absolutely one of the best experiences our family has had. Our tour guide/​photographer Victor took us to «behind the scenes» places around Lake Tahoe that we never could have found on our own. He took photos of us and the gorgeous scenery to make this is an unforgettable trip. We saw so many beautiful things and even stopped for shakes and coffee at a small general store, where we bought great souvenirs. Victor was extremely knowledgeable about all different aspects of the lake, surrounding areas, wildlife, history and photography. It is so cool to have the photos to remember our fantastic trip to Tahoe. Well worth the money. We will definitely do this again when we return.

We had a fun time as we were shown some highlights of Lake Tahoe. A couple of places were spots we had not seen before. My husband was more enthusiastic about the tour as he had no expectations. However, I thought there would be more photography instruction. This tour is more about having the guides take pictures of you than expert instruction.

Took this tour a few years ago with Robin. I am a professional photographer so I was wondering going in how good could this be, boy was I surprised. These folks take you everywhere you want to go and then some. They can access areas of Tahoe that most of us could not get to. And on top of that. the photos they shot of the four of us on the tour were very good. Even if you were just going to get photos of your and your family this would be well worth it but obviously there is a lot more to it than that. We went on a TPT tour on the second day we arrived in Tahoe and it really gave us great ideas for the rest of our trip on where we should spend our time. The next time I go to tahoe I would love to take this tour again.

We went to Tahoe to photograph, not knowing that September is not a very picturesque time of year. We weren’t inspired by the lake or scenery.
I saw a review of this tour online and it sounded right up our alley. We are so glad we took it.
Mike took us to places we would have never found on our own. He was friendly and informative.
Our 3 hour tour turned into 6 hours and we had a great time. It really made our whole trip.
They sent us a CD of pics they took of us in various places and we really love that. It is a great memento.
I can’t say enough great things about this tour. Well worth the time and money and I’d gladly do it again.

My husband and I took this tour with Robin in December 2011. While the tour portion was fine, the pictures that we were given were very, very disappointing. This was the first time that I’ve had a bad experience with a company with good reviews on Trip Advisor, and I was shocked.
Of the places we were taken, only 2 were «private,» and definitely not worth the $ 250 that we paid as a couple. Most of the places we went to were free and there were plenty of other people there enjoying them without having paid the price tag.
The «clean luxury SUV» they profess to pick you up in ended up being a Volvo that smelled like cigarette smoke.
My husband and I both have beginner DSLR cameras, but didn’t bother taking pictures of us together on the tour because the guide (ours was Robin, Keith’s wife), was supposed to take pictures and then edit them and send them to us. On their website they advertise with pictures Keith has taken, and he’s a professional photographer. It was evident by the pictures we received from Robin that she didn’t know how to operate her $ 2k + camera, and most of the photos were out of focus, blurry, over exposed, or needed white balance correction. They were really bad photos.
I was really disappointed when we got the pictures because I wanted photos of us in these beautiful places. Luckily, I took photos while on the tour and the day after, so I had photos of us as a couple there, and they were much, much better than the ones we received from Tahoe Photographic Tours, and my camera was left in auto most of the time, so I’m assuming if Robin had done the same with hers we could have had better images.
I wrote to Keith (the owner) and complained about the poor quality, and he said he thought the pictures were good and that none of the guides ever professed to being professional photographers. While it’s true that they didn’t (even though their website calls them a professional team), they advertise with professional photography, which implies that you will be getting exceptional quality photos (at least as good a simple point and shoot camera can produce). He also mentioned all the beautiful places that we were taken and offered a free tour next time we’re in Tahoe… but I would NEVER recommend this company or pay for their services again. It surprised me that a professional photographer defended the images we were given and called them good, when they were obviously very, very bad. My husband and went through the cd we were sent with our mouths open from shock at how bad they were.
If their competitive advantage over other tour companies in Tahoe is the beautiful places they take you to, they should be renamed «Tahoe Scenic Tours,» not Tahoe Photographic Tours, which implies that you’ll get decent images from your guides.
If you have ANY experience with a camera, even a point and shoot, DO NOT book with this company. Do yourself a favor and buy a tour book and a tripod and go at it alone. It’ll save you lots of money and you’ll get much better images.

Mike took us out to some beautiful photo spots! It was very personalized and we were the only ones out on the guide. He was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable in the park. He taught us so much and we felt that we were with a friend taking us out and showing us around.
We definitely recommend their service! Totally worth it!

This tour was great. Robin took us to some incredible photo locations and helped show some of the best angles. She provided boots for the snow and took her own pictures of us that she will provide on CD. Robin also had the best stories from her time as a dancer. It was well worth the money.

Fantastic Tour! A really must do! We’re an older couple (mid to upper 50’s) with a vacation home in Truckee. We’d never have seen everything we did on our own. The locations are breath takingly beautiful and yes there is some light hiking but nothing that we couldn’t do. Even our 22 year old daughter loved it! We took hundreds of photos ourselves and can’t wait to see what our fabulous guide, Matt, took of us!
So whether you’re a local or visitor to the area this really is a great «must do.»

My husband and I went on this tour as first time visitors to Tahoe. What a wonderful introduction to the natural beauty and landscape of the are. Our tour guide Mike was very friendly and accomodating. He let us pick and choose where we wanted to visit and since we were short on time made sure we hit all the best spots while taking plenty of amazing pictures. The locations we visited were some we never would have found on our own so that made this experience well worth it. If you are new to Tahoe this is a must-​do.

My husband and I had a fantastic experience with this company! We saw so many beautiful places and wildlife. Our photographer Keith Price took so many excellent pictures that they were better than our wedding photographer!!! How great is that. Now we have pictures and memories of a lifetime. I can’t recommend this company highly enough. Extremely reasonably priced for this type of experience. The crew are so nice and fun.

This had to be one of the most amazing things I have ever done. My boyfriend and I went on a photographic tour on Valentine’s Day, and it could not have gone better.
This service is offered through Keith Price photography, but he was sick, so we were picked up by Bob instead. He picked us up at our hotel at 10:00a.m. and proceeded to take us all around Lake Tahoe. We visited snowy beaches, amazing view points, private roads and smaller lakes, half-​frozen waterfalls, etc. It was very snowy during our trip, but luckily it let up a little during our tour, giving us great photo conditions!
We had so much fun on this trip, mostly playing and falling in the snow, and Bob snapped a ton of pictures of it. There’s a good amount of walking involved in this tour, but it is SO WORTH IT for the pictures that you take.
The tours are private, or nearly private. My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be the only ones on this tour, but I think it’s typical for there to be 2 couples (or 4 people). The tour was in a large, comfortable, and clean SUV, and snacks and water were provided along the way.
We literally went all over Tahoe, and we got back from our tour around 2:30p.m. No part of the tour was boring, and time absolutely flew!
The experience we had on this tour made us fall in love with Tahoe. We saw places we never would have discovered on our own, and I am extremely excited to see the pictures. Bob told us it would take about a week to get the disc, as Keith would be retouching the photos. Awesome!
If you go to Tahoe, you should DEFINITELY take this tour. Every time of year has something different to offer, and my boyfriend and I would love to go again in the summer or early fall, for a whole different variety of pictures! :)
