SO much better than waiting at the Starbucks across the lot! There’s literally no line in the morning in comparison to the ridiculous Starbucks line. Especially for someone like me who just wants plain, black coffee. There’s no point in me waiting in line for 10 minutes if it takes them 30 seconds to get my drink. Great service here too. The barista messed up my friend’s order but remade it with no fuss and let us keep the drink he had made incorrectly.

I was over the moon happy to find a Peet’s to grab a on the road coffee and started my trip home with a huge smile on my face! The customer service I received was the best I have ever gotten… even flying solo and a line of customers, the Barista(Kathy) was super sweet and attentive. And the drinks were quite delicious!

I love the fact that they have almond milk as an option. My favorite simple drink is their sugar free vanilla latte with almond milk, hits the spot every time I also appreciate that even on busy days they give great customer service.

Amazing staff big selection of tea and delicious freddos! I was accidentally a painful customer and(I’m not from the U.S. so I didn’t realise the freddos had coffee in them I thought they were just like milkshakes) and the staff were so nice about it when I asked after it was made they insisted on making me A new one without coffee, they were so friendly about it and had a big chat with me while I waited. Seriously can’t express enough how lovely and friendly the lady working was, she was the nicest! It’s just really great when someone is so nice to you for no reason, really made my day :)

The staff here is amazing. All of the staff members have excellent customer service and they know all o their local customers. The menu is obviously the same as other Peets coffee’s but they make their coffee very well; unlike the stateline Peets which is horrible.

Peet’s! I love you! I’m sick of Starbucks. Back at home, I’ve got one two blocks away and I’m so sick of it, I walk past it to go get gas station coffee. While visiting in South Lake Tahoe, I discovered Peet’s coffee bars in the Raley supermarkets. Loved their iced coffees. Tried their iced Freddos and the new flavor of Coconut Macadamia. Very good! The prices were very fair considering how much other coffee houses charge. This location had mini-scones; 2 for fifty cents. Perfect little munchies. Loved all three flavors. If I come across a Peet’s back home, I’ll be making a beeline over there!

Better than waiting in line at the Starbucks! Decent coffee, good friendly service, and I’m not crammed in a shoebox with a bunch of tourists.

Great customer service and top notch turnaround time. I was in and out in 5 minutes, only had to wait behind 1 guy. And mirroring other customers, the place needs an appearance upgrade, I only happened to see the signage while driving by, otherwise it could be easily missed/passed over because its not the most welcoming.

I love dark chocolate. I love dark chocolate mocha freddo’s. Starbucks doesn’t have dark chocolate. Well done indeed Peet’s!

The coffee they have is pretty strong for my taste, I always have to water it down by ordering a small into a large cup with extra hot water. The hot chocolate wasn’t the best, but then again wasn’t the worst I’ve had either. Kinda disappointed in the fact they do not offer a fruity tea iced and sugar free.

Espresso — is bad. Weak and bitter. Not the first time so this is not a one off review. It’s not like the other Pete’s because its a satellite petes. The machine is automated for speed not quality. Think Starbucks. Freshness and grind is off. But then again — most people drink a gallon of milk and/or chocolate sauce with their coffee so it does not matter to most people. Regular Brewed Coffee Selection is limited How many days can you run house 101 blend? Spells cheap coffee. Most Petes are cutting back and serve this crap most of the week. Pete’s coffee is not what it used to be — but its better than most. The world sourcing and cost have changed. their kenya, ethiopia, uzari and the new café salano is their best brewed coffee imo.

Great customer service and your coffee /tea comes up fast. My only complaint about this location is that they carry a minimal amount of loose leaf tea, especially compared to other Peet’s that have loose leaf coming out the wazoo. Still, when you’re running late for class and have glue in your hair because your kid insisted on «crafting» you when you dropped her off at daycare, this location does just fine!

I’m a regular Peetnik in Sacramento, and I would match the wonderful staff at the 37th& J location to any coffee shop on the planet. I go there every day to write and drink tea. It’s my home office away from home. They treat you like family and are always extremely accommodating. Sarah, who is the manager there, gave me a free bag of my favorite Summer House tea to take along with me on my trip. I am visiting at Lake Tahoe for a few weeks and wondered why all they have are Starbuck’s, which is not my favorite, though I do like their iced green tea and healthy bistro lunch trays. I’d like to see Peet’s offer something healthy to eat instead of just sweets. I’m happy to know there’s a Peet’s here in South Tahoe, but after the reviews I’ve read of the staff, I’m not sure I want to try it. On the other hand, my curiosity has the best of me. If I get Snooty Barista from Planet X, I’ll tell her about the usual fantastic service I get in Sacramento.

Far and away the most unattractive store front, lack of signage, find us if you can Peet’s I’ve ever almost not found. Jeez, I love me some Peet’s but c’mon, spruce the place up a bit. From the outside you look like a prison. People generally want to stay OUT of prison. Yeah, the coffee still beats starbucks.

I love Peet’s coffee, and as an owner of a coffeehouse myself, I say this with complete confidence and no shame. Alfred Peet is one of the core founders of the modern gourmet coffee roasting movement, and in fact taught the founders of Starbucks how to roast good coffee(who later took that method and turned it into mass-produced crap). Look it up. That aside, Peet’s still maintains great quality even though it is a medium-sized chain. They are like In-N-Out, in that they refuse to expand beyond their current model which facilitates fresh, hand-roasted coffee… unlike Starbucks which again, was once good but is now low-quality swill. Now there are rumors that Starbucks will buy Peet’s, which will ruin it for me and force me to go elsewhere. That would be like McDonald’s buying In-N-Out…terrible and evil. OK enough of that… about this particular Peet’s: I love it. When I am not at my own coffeehouse on my day off, this is where I come. The coffee is Peet’s quality(i.e. awesome) and the girls, although they are Raley’s employees and not world-class baristas, are super friendly and give you what you need, at a great price. What’s not to love? p. s. as a local business owner, I have to respectfully disagree with Jenn’s argument that since they employ locals, then the non-local label doesn’t apply. Sorry Jenn, but that’s ridiculous. By those standards, every single business in town, from KMart to Jack in the Box is local. Sure, they employ locals, but most of the profits LEAVE this town and benefit the giant corporation which doesn’t care about this town at all. «Local» means that the owners themselves(like myself) are local, keep the profits here, and live in and support our local economy much more than, say, Starbucks or even Peet’s.

Just got back from a phenomenally done, beautiful wedding in South Lake Tahoe and had the chance to spend a couple days up there soaking in the gorgeousness of it all. Due to amazing coffee goodness that surrounds me in SF, you could say I’m somewhat of an addict, so I needed to feed the fix while on this particular getaway this past weekend. Tucked away inside Raley’s, I found this Peet’s which I loved loved loved, because of the great service from Bobbi and a few of the other baristas. I felt like I was in my own neighborhood coffee joint and the girls really made me feel at home. My latte and mocha tasted that much better knowing they were served with a smile and great attitude. Thank you ladies of the South Lake Tahoe Peet’s. Keep making the in and out of towners’ days’ with your great work!

I’ve started hitting this place up for my morning latte, now that my home cappuccino maker’s crapped out. Unlike the other reviewer, I’ve had nothing but great service there, and the trio of women who typically work there in the early morning when I come in are always very friendly(if a bit too chipper for my pre-caffeinated self). The only thing I order — a latte — is always consistently made. One plus here is that there is a 10 purchase punch card, which makes the repeat coffee purchase a little more economical. Finally, to the local argument posed by another reviewer, the company may not be ‘local’, but it does employ locals, so telling people to go elsewhere to help support locals doesn’t really make sense.

Peet’s is a sub-tenant inside Raley’s at the«Y». We dropped in there last Sunday morning on our way to the lake. Peet’s is great, but cashier was, let’s say… forced pleasant. Nice smile, no tattoos, piercings, or «Hope» shirt, but a lot like a machine taking money. Now I could have gone to Starbucks in the same shopping center, but I was trying to avoid their house standard cup of tar. I asked Robo-Cashier if the featured coffee of the day was a french roast/bold type coffee. Well, evidently Robo-Cashier doesn’t drink much coffee because she had to ask the barista. Evidently Space-Barista doesn’t drink much coffee either and said it was milder and not a french roast type of coffee. You know the rest of the story. There wasn’t enough half and half in all of Raley’s to cut the liquid asphalt. The lesson here is: #1 Peet’s management, please make your employees taste and understand what your selling like any good restaurant would do. #2 Support Peet’s because they do sell good stuff, but you better know what you’re ordering beforehand because you are at Planet Peet’s when you’re at the Peet’s in Raley’s at the«Y».
