Elevate Wellness Center is South Lake Tahoe’s premier holistic health center. We combine the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the latest research on functional medicine. We use bodywork techniques to relieve you of your discomforts but also provide movement therapy to help prevent your injury from reoccurring.

We offer lifestyle programs that will help you make good choices everyday that can affect your health. Our mission is to offer client centered services to provide the knowledge and tools to allow you to meet your health and life goals. Choose one service or integrate the services; each of them will help to restore your natural balance. If you need help designing your goals and program, meet with our Wellness Coach. Our team will focus on empowering and supporting you to make the changes that will «elevate» your health to the highest potential.

Melinda Choy, LAc.

Melinda is a California state licensed acupuncturist and National Diplomat in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. Melinda received her Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, California.

In adjunct to her education, Melinda apprenticed with Lela Carney, LAc. and traveled to China to study at Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Melinda has enhanced her knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Japanese style acupuncture, Qi Gong, Tai Qu and nutrition.

Melinda is an outdoor enthusiast, artist, musician and world traveler. She currently lives and practices Traditional Chinese Medicine in South Lake Tahoe, California.

OK, I had to laugh at the response, as I knew it was coming! Not once was there an apology, or a kind remark, just excuses for poor service. This is not a Dr. office, this is a clinic offering massage and acupuncture. Even psychiatrists set time limits with their clients, no matter what trauma might be involved. Not having time is not stressful, the stress comes from others not respecting another person’s time. We plan, we schedule, we are polite and arrive on time as a courteous person would. Not being acknowledged by the provider when we arrive, that is unkind and causes stress. Being verbally insulted on the way out the door, that causes stress. Responding by making excuses without apology, that causes stress.
I already have recommendations of another provider who has much better reviews and referrals, so when Melinda said good luck finding someone else-​I already did!

Everything is good here, the atmosphere, the people, the lobby music, the services provided. But why has no one commented on the wait? I waited over an hour past my appointment one time, and all other appointments is at least 35 – 50 minute wait. I’m busy and have things to do so a call, heads up, that I should come in 30 minutes late or something would be nice. But after all that they then charge you in full if you miss your appointment. I’m baffled. Tick tock

I’ve been going to Elevate Wellness for a year now and always love the service. I spend a lot of time between Reno and Tahoe so my schedule changes quite frequently and they always try to accommodate me. Even when they can’t, they put me on a wait list and are diligent when it comes to finding a time that works.
The environment they’ve created at the clinic is welcoming and relaxing, as it should be. Gina has been treating me and can pinpoint different issues from stress, back pain and digestive problems. She gets me back on track and also provides ways to help with chronic problems. I always look forward to my sessions because it is a nice little getaway from my busy week.

Had the most amazing couples massage w gretta and jen… we are from san francisco where we are surrounded by spas and massage therapists, and it was def a surprise the have the best massage of my life in tahoe. I am a registered nurse and recognized that these girls know the body!!! Very pleased and will return!!! We had a deep tissue massage but were pleased that techniques from swedish massage were also used. I like med pressure and my bf loves harder pressure and we were both more than satisfied.

Gina is absolutely amazing and truely our angel! We travel 2 hours to Tahoe every other week for my daughters treatments. We have been to the best Dr in the United States that specializes in endometriosis… but this woman is the BEST!!! We would give her 10 stars if we could!

Melinda Choy is a very knowledgeable caring, practitioner. She is well versed in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medications, and I believe also specializes in infertility.
I saw her for a couple years, and I believe it helped me extend the time before I had to step up to harsher Western treatments for my chronic neck pain/​spasms.
This center also has massage, and sometimes Rolfing available, and seems to be leaning towards becoming a Full-​Service Wellness center.
They are behind the Nik & Willies pizza place on Emerald Bay Road, just coming into South Lake from Placerville/​Meyers on the Right. Once in the parking lot, the building is on the left, and they are the middle door, that leads you upstairs. Barton University is in the back of the parking lot.

Based on the great Unilocal review I went to see Michele at Elevate Wellness and she was just a great as the reviewer said — this isn’t your basic massage, it’s almost not a massage at all but «corrective bodywork» as she states on her card. I will definitely be back!

I have been seeing a local massage therapist for the 9 years that I’ve lived at Lake Tahoe, and Michele has played a key role in helping me recover from numerous chronic injuries (including rotator cuff pain, back pain & bone bruises). Michele is now working at Elevate Wellness (just behind Nick & Willie’s on Emerald Bay Road), and her proximity to my office has been very fortuitous, as ski season has already thrown me some injuries that need her healing hands.
Her massage treatment runs the range of therapies, including the Berry Method, are corrective in nature, and as such, not as relaxing as traditional massage. She is, however, very capable at identifying the root causes of muscle pain, thus eliminating the need for symptomatic treatment such as physical therapy. I’m really not sure how she does it (magic?) but I leave her table pain free. Her skills include deep muscle pain, post and pre natal massage, bone bruising, and nerve pain (carpal tunnel syndrome for example).
Thanks to her I’ve been able to ski, swim and play outdoors with very little pain and long-​term injury. Without her I’d probably be a hunched over decrepit mess, incapable of moving, let alone writing reviews for Unilocal
