Specialties

Men’s haircuts and beard trims. All men’s haircuts including flat tops, high and tights, fades and buzz cuts along with all longer styles. We also do head or face straight razor shaves.

Freda and Meagan also cut women’s hair but no coloring or perms.

History

Established in 1958.

The Clipper Barber Shop was opened in 1958. It was moved to it’s current location in December of 1965 when the building was finished. There have been a total of 4 owners. The current owners, John and Freda Dimmer, have owned it since 1992.

We drove to South Lake Tahoe to check on and visit my brother. He needed a shave badly. We drove to two Barbershops, and they were closed on the weekends. A beauty salon recommended Clippers. We were so happy they were open on Saturday. The Barber and her daughter Who is also a Barber were great! The Barber was professional, and treated my brother with respect. We enjoyed talking with them while admiring the authentic Barbershop! My boys grew up going to their Grandpa’s Barbershop for haircuts. If you have sons, this is the place I would take them. We had a positive experience on what was a stressful day.

Visiting South Lake Tahoe and needed just a cleanup on my neckline. My husband had been in to get his hair cut and was very pleased. Even though mine was a simple request, the stylist was very thorough and shaped up my neckline just as I asked. Very friendly and professional staff and reasonably priced. If I lived here, this would be my go to hair place.

Been going here for approximately 14 years now. John and Freda are wonderful folks who provide great service along with a good conversation. Freda is a great barber who deserves the accolades she has garnered over the years. I consider both of them my friends and they always have my business. Thanks, you two! And Tim is great also. Haven’t seen much of him lately, guess he is a gypsy now.

Hair cut time machine! This place was great… retro to say the least. If you appreciate 60’s sea captain décor, entertaining commentary between the Barbour’s and the customers and you want to pay under $ 20 for a cut, this is your place. BE WARNED if you use hair product or have ever been called «metro sexual» stay away! This is no place for «fancy’s.» If you have a beard or a drinking problem this could become your second home. Heads up! first come, first serve and best to deal in cash. They do offer straight razor shaves as well a dying art in this reviewers opinion. If you do go get ready for a slice of true Americana.

I used to get my hair cut there but found it unbearable when the owner John, who isn’t even a licensed barber, was present. He is annoying, obnoxious and a self proclaimed know-​it-​all and never knows when to shut his mouth. I even called him on it. Now he tells the few customers he has left bad things about me. If I hear him talk bad about my business again I will pursue him legally.
