Adventure Mountain Lake Tahoe

We took our 16 month old son to South Lake Tahoe. No one in the family was going to ski, and we just wanted our little one to experience snow. For $ 28 per car, it was very economical for the 4 of us to have some fun in the snow! The parking lot was well managed with attendants guiding cars in and out of the lot. I also see them yelling at people to make sure they don’t damage the tubes by dragging it on pavements.
It was about a 20 minute drive from our state near the Heavenly’s. I was able to purchase a ski boat for myself as I was not properly dressed for the activity. We purchased a sled at a nearby pharmacy, and rented a tube for the day. There were many slopes to choose from. For our son, we just chose the slowest sections. There weren’t any wait for us as people are going for the faster ones. At most, we had 1 or 2 people ahead of us.
We also see some young toddlers start at mid point to get started. We were done after 2 hours. When we went, the food court was closed. It may be possible that it’s closed on weekdays.

Great place for tubing and sledding. 28 per car is not too bad. The hills are not too steep so not so bad climbing up the hill. Def can spend a few hrs here. Would come back again next year

We are lucky to catch up the last day of the season. It’s my son first time seeing snow. We didn’t prepare any skin outfit but we still had so much fun. Getting a little soak is just part of the fun too. Highly recommend.

We were here 6 years ago when there was nothing other than someone taking money for you to park and snowy areas to play. Now it is is groomed sledding trails and a bunch of open snowy areas to play. $ 28 per car to get in — could be worse. The groomed trails — not overly long, but long enough. You have to watch for the ones that seem the smoothest (based on how many people fall off their sleds) and that go the speed you want — little tikes will want to be towards the left side of the trees, older kids and adults on the right side.
Everyone says come early, and I imagine on the weekend you do need to be there early. We came Easter week on a Tuesday and there was plenty of parking at 10:45. By the time we left around 1:30 or so, it was almost full. The main advantage to getting there early (assuming you don’t get shut out and can’t get in) is smaller lines for the runs. There is no magic carpet here so you do walk up to the top of the hill each time. Then you wait until it’s your turn. For us, that was about 5 or so people each time when we first go there, but it was probably 10 strong when we left.
We had our kids where their skiing helmets — they did pop off the sleds once or twice and I felt much better about the protection. I’d say about 40% of the kids were smart enough to be in helmets.
Overall, if you are coming to sled and to build snowmen, throw snowballs, etc — great place to do it.

For$ 28 per vehicle it’s one of the best deals for families with kids who don’t ski but wants to sled, play on the snow. Best to bring your own lunch as the selection in the cafeteria is limited and pricey.

I am going to start out this review by giving you 2 tips:
1) Get there early
2) Bring lunch
First off, find out what time they open and go there within that first hour or hour and a half. Once the lot is full, they close it off and it won’t open for a few hours. It’ll be a heartbreaker to the kids if you go all the way to Tahoe and end up not being able to go down the hills/​slopes (or whatever you call it) until close to the end of the day. While they do open it up again, chances are, it’ll only leave you a little bit of time before they close. Some people might think that’s ok, but at $ 28 a car to get in, it’s not exactly cheap. Also, time goes by pretty fast when the kids are having a blast.
Also, as I mentioned, it’s best to bring a lunch, if you can. Yes, they have a café there. But, it’s literally worse than the food you had in the cafeteria in 3^rd grade. I’m pretty easy when it comes to eating this type of cheap food, but I could barely eat it. Half of a hot dog bun had the texture of a meringue cookie, the chicken strips were salty, the fries tasted like they’ve been sitting out for a while, and the Nissin Cup Of Noodles… yes, Cup Of Noodles, was almost $ 3! It’s sad when that was the best item on the menu. You’re better off stopping at the Raleys down the hill, or going to Subway and getting a few sandwiches, and putting it in a cooler in your car.
Beyond those 2 things, though, a fun time will be had by everyone who goes here. Even if you go with little ones (under 2), they can make snow balls and throw them at mom and dad. The older kids, and adults, will love the different size hills to slide down. The good thing about closing the parking lot is that you’re pretty much guaranteed not to have to wait in too long of a line. If you don’t bring your own snow gear like inner tubes and sleds and stuff, you can definitely rent them for around $ 15-​$ 25 the whole day (plus deposit). They also have little things you can buy such as a snowball maker. I want to say that’s the best $ 10 you will ever spend, but the same thing is $ 4 on Amazon.

Tried Adventure Mountain with my family yesterday and we were not disappointed. $ 28 a car gave us all access to the park. My kids had a blast sledding and building snowman all afternoon. We will definitely be back when we are in Tahoe again.

Wholesome family fun. I researched other sledding/​tubing places and this one was definitely the most economical which was important since we had a large group. It was well run even though they could have used an extra hand in the rental station. We brought some sleds of our own and rented a tube as well. I never felt it was unsafe and most people seemed to follow the rules as far as waiting for the sled run to be clear before starting their turn. Lots of fun was had by the kids in our group and most of the adults as well. We’ve decided to make this an annual destination.

We were looking for a good place to take our 6 and 9 year old kids for their first real
snow experience and Adventure Mountain delivered. It’s right off highway 50 and there are several well groomed runs to chose from. They charge by the car but you can bring your own
sled which is nice. They also rent tubes for $ 20 for 2 hours.
This place is probably slammed on the weekends his is why we went on a Monday.

super fun for the kiddos. we took a two, three, and four year old here, and everyone had a blast! make sure to bring cash for the entrance. it’s a little pricey, which is why i docked a star. definitely recommend, esp. for out of towners looking for a little snow fun!

Definitely a good place to sled and play in the snow for the $ 28 per car. I would suggest to plan to come early because they have two sides to their parking lot, once those are full there is no where else to park. They have three main areas where you can sled, each area has multiple lanes. They vary in length and incline so that your sled will go faster or slower. It also depends on what type of sled you use that will determine how fast you’ll be going. Our family personally brought some sleds that we purchased online. A lot of people bring the plastic ones, the circular plastic ones seem to go pretty fast down the slopes, the longer plastic ones did not do so well. When we went we seen a lot of the plastic ones breaking. They also have sleds and tubes for rent.
If you are not planning on sledding the whole day, they also have areas where you can play in the snow.
The location has a lodge where you can order food (more like cafeteria fried food, pizza, hot dogs, nachos) the seats inside of the lodge are reserved for those who buy food from the establishment. They have six picnic benches outside of the lodge that are open for others who bring food to eat. A lot of people just picnic by their cars in the parking lot. The lodge also has a small store that sells sunglasses and some clothing items that you may have forgotten or need.
FYI: Just know that the more popular slopes tend to have longer lines. You end up waiting in line for a good amount of time. Also be prepared to walk up the slopes carrying your sled/​tube because that’s the only way to go up.
We had a great time here but now we know that when we come back we’ll have multiple sleds to use and not just two for our party of eight. We ended up waiting for a really long time so we can pass off the sleds. Also, we’ll bring small collapsible chairs so we can wait at the bottom of the slopes comfortably as we watch everyone go down.
Restrooms: They have I believe eight toilets in the parking lot area, not sure if they are flushable or «honey pots» but they are in small closed buildings. They also have 3 – 4 porta pottys leading up to the slopes from the parking lot closest to the lodge. The lodge also has flushing toilets. The bathrooms are separate for men and women. The women’s restroom has four to five stalls.

Took my son to celebrate his 3^rd birthday and first time in the snow and this place was perfect!
We first went on a Thursday and it was perfect. Not too busy, 15 runs available but they had decent little slopes for young kids. My son had a blast and was very much looking forward to going back on Saturday.
I had read reviews online saying that it sells out very often so we tried to get there around 9:30−10am. The lines to get in were very long but we made it.
It’s $ 28 per car and everyone in your car gets full access to the park and runs. You can bring your own inner tubes, sleds, and discs just as long as they are not metal or wood. You can also rent them there. $ 12 for a two person sled and $ 25 for an inner tube.
Some people definitely make a day of it and bring BBQ pits, tables, etc. If you can do that, great! If not, the lodge offers pizza, hot dogs, chili dogs, chicken strips, fries and a few other items.
Definitely explore the park. To the far left is great space to build snowmen, have a snowball fight or just relax among the trees, snow and overall beautiful landscape.
We are for sure going back for a day trip!

Yes! I loved it here. I do think they should have more to do there other than sledding but it was still fun. The drive wasn’t bad coming from Vallejo, no really high mountains for those afraid of heights. If you get there early enough the better. When we were leaving we seen cars being turned away due to the parking lot being full, which sucks. The rental for the sleighs weren’t bad, we were in and out pretty fast and they also have a lodge with food and heating for when you need a little break.

Adventure Mountain is the BEST!!! What a great place for the entire family, toddlers to adults. The snow is fantastic, the staff super friendly and helpful. You can bring your own sled, rent or purchase one. Definitely one of the best places to go sledding! I came here with my family and grandkids and we had such a fun day.
Come early and plan on spending the day… nobody will want to leave because it is so much fun. ********

Possibly one of the best places to go sledding and tubing. $ 28 per car. We had little kids so we didn’t stay long. Great for families. Although I suggest supervision at all times for kids under 10. This is a better alternative to parking on the freeway and playing in the snow on the side. It’s just not safe. It’s right off of 50. I suggest getting there when they open to closing. It’s worth the $. Bring snacks n drinks and sun screen. I saw people with coolers and lawn chairs too! Def areas to play and sit and relax. Areas for sledding and tubing. You can also rent tubing equipment. But I’m sure it’s cheaper if you bring your own. They have a café there too although we didn’t bother to check it out.

Bring your own sleds or toboggan (like buy them from target on clearance),
cooler for lunch or hot water and cup o’ noodles,
get here when they open,
give $ 28 dollars,
don’t wear hella snow clothes (rookie mistake #99: you’ll be on fire after an hour walking up the hill)

Just there over the weekend with the family for a snow day! The cost to get in was $ 28 for a car load. The sled runs were all open and there was plenty of room for families that did not want to go down the sled runs. We stayed there for about four hours and packed a light lunch and then headed off to Reno which is about an hour and a half away. I would definitely try this park again when we make our way back up to Lake Tahoe

Drove 2 hours today and arrived about 1030 just to see that the park was closed due to it being full. Wish they could maybe post the closure when it happens on the website. Kids were very dissapointed! I guess you have to get there before it opens or maybe it was just a busy day today.

I give this location 5 stars for the price. At $ 28 for the whole car, and not per person or per hour, this has to be the best deal in the South Lake Tahoe area. I would also say that at 7300′, you are also going to get the best snow conditions. It was 35 degrees and sunny at Stateline and 28 degrees with snow when we got to the top.
I give this location a 3 stars, simply because the sledding runs are soooo short and the line get so long. There is not very good supervision at the top. The waiting line is a little chaotic and people are often cutting.
If you plan coming up to sled, make sure you get here early. They open at 9am on Saturday. We were there at 10:15 and the parking lot was half full. When we left at 12:50 they had sold out. People make a day out of sledding here. They brought BBQs for tailgating and chairs, it is a good call.
What did I learn today? They need to make longer runs and a rope/​waiting line.

This place is awesome for the family. Pay $ 28 a car to spend half a day sledding, making a snowman, and snowball fight with the family was well worth it.

Fun place! Get there early to avoid crowds. Bring your own snacks and food to save some $. They have small slopes for little ones. Lots of employees walking around offering info or clearing the paths. We will be back!

If you have patience for the holiday crowd of small people you may enjoy the long wait times for small thrill. We took our sleds to enjoy but couldn’t get but a few feet without crowds.

One of the best snow parks in Tahoe! We used to go here for recreational sledding or tubing on our own till it was bought out. Now, it’s privately own and an organized snow park. I like this much better and a great deal for a $ 28 entrance fee per vehicle than per person. If your kids don’t want to hit the slopes for snowboarding or skiing, this is another great option to keep the kids busy. My son didn’t want to learn to snowboard so we took the four kids for a one day trip to go snow sledding!
I recommend to come early before they open at 10a to have parking as it will be packed and full that no one can come in. There is limited parking. There is limited bathrooms as well. Make sure to wear snow gear and goggles is a must. You don’t have to wear too many layers of clothing as climbing the hill is a workout in itself. I assure you will get warm quick! Bring extra dry clothes for later.
There is about 8 different snow runs! There are ones for babies, too. Loved watching all the kids and adults loosing their sleds and seeing how they go down. It sure was entertaining! Good exercise to walk up the slopes to go down the hills. The longest run is just behind the three pine trees. It’s a lot longer going down and faster! I had so much fun… who cares if I will be sore in the morning! ;p This place is totally recommended!

$ 28 a car now. You can bring your own sleds but wooden and metal are not allowed. They have bathrooms and a little café there. The runs are fun and pretty safe. A great place for the kids. The keep they runs well groomed and they have a separate little kid area and an area with faster runs.
There are other sledding parks that have magic carpets but they cost way more money.

We were here for the Christmas holiday and there was a line going into the parking lot around 10AM. The admission per car was $ 28, instead of $ 25. The lodge area is pretty small and they limit you to sit at the table for 30 minutes. I wish the lodge area is a little bit bigger.
The sled area was big enough to go on for the entire day. My children and I had lots of fun. Great day to spend the day if your kids are not into skiing yet. You can buy or rent their sleds and tubes. I will def. come back.
Once they reach a certain capacity, they will close off the area. So get there early. When we left around 2pm, they were «sold out» already.

$ 25/​car admission, and you can bring your own sleds, or rent or purchase ones at Adventure Mountain. The price is right, and being at higher elevation, the snow is rather unaffected by the weather (one reason among many to choose Adventure Mountain over Hansen’s). There are ~10/​plenty of runs to go down, and on a Sunday we did not have to spend much time waiting in line. The lodge has bathrooms and a small cafeteria (one hot dog, ~$ 4) that serves chicken fingers, fries, hot dogs, pizza, hot cocoa, etc.
If there was an easier way to get up the hill, I’d give this place 5 stars. It’s a pretty solid 4.5 otherwise. Definitely worth the drive, or the stop on your way out of town.

What a blast. First if all, you can’t go wrong with the cost, for $ 20 (Now $ 25) everyone in your vehicle gets access to the park. We weren’t looking for a ski resort, we just wanted somewhere we could go tubing. The rentals were inexpensive, but I think we may buy a sled the next time to bring with us.
We will be back, next season.

This was a fantastic family day out. You pay for parking and play in the snow all day.
The crowds were big but we never felt crowded. There are so many sled runs. And the café is big, the store staff are friendly. Everyone was so nice!
There were many kinds of sled runs: super basic, great for the nervous small children, up to fast steep ones that shred snow up. Even the little kids were riding the fast runs by days’ end. We sledded and sledded, made snow men, had snowball fights.
There’s a really reasonably priced store for folks who underestimate how wet snow is. Shoes and snacks were priced the same as Amazon or Sports Authority.
Café sells pizza, hot dogs, hot cocoa, all edible. Next time we will bring a picnic.
