Night of Terror

Went here for halloween night. It was a good time but not the greatest. We got the VIP tickets so we finished all 7 attractions including the paintball zombie hayride in like 2 hours. Everything leads into eachother and it felt rushed. The paintball zombie hayride was great, I loved that they played music during it and that the actors actually stayed out in the open to be shot at. After that we went on the actual hayride, and that was the best part of the night. The animations and scenery was amazing, you can tell a lot of work and money was put into it. After that the night went down hill. We were just zooming through everything in a matter of minutes, they kept letting too many people in so the scare affect was lost in many aspects. Plus, it wasn’t super scary to begin with. At the end of the night, I didn’t feel as fulfilled as I had hoped.
It was a good night, but I don’t think I will be coming back.

I’ve been to TONS of haunted attractions and I heard about this one thru Travel Channel as one of the best so my friends and I decided to try it. It took about an hour to get there. It was $ 30 for all 6 attractions and you have to buy ALL 6. Everything is handmade… 500 to 800 hours per prop. We waited about 40 minutes to get our tickets. Then we started with the two walk-​throughs. We waited about 20 minutes each before we went inside. They were a decent size. However, they sent way too many people in at once. I loved the Bubble Room… so different. Every room had great theming and excellent props and use of them. You never knew what was real and it wasn’t just some characters roaming around — everyone had a place. After that we decided to get something to eat… I got a pumpkin donut and hot chocolate for $ 2 total! It tasted good and you can never find cheap food like that at events like this. Next was the Hayride. It was FANTASTIC! Mostly props were used, a few people inside the hayride but mostly just props. The props were INSANE! My favorite was the T-​Rex just because I’m a lover of Dinosaurs. After the hayride you had the last three haunted walk-​throughs. They were all good but this was extremely face paced and they just wanted you in & out. As stated, the only downside is that they needed to put less people in at one time and if they did that… 100% best haunted attraction and can’t be beat. Regardless, I highly highly highly recommend this place and will be coming back for sure with everyone I know.

If you are going to do this haunted house, definitely consider buying VIP tickets online if you want to avoid going home frustrated. The ticket lines are very long. The wait for the hayride was over two hours and we had to go through the hayride to get to three of the other attractions. I got in line around 8:30 and it was past 10:30 when I got to the front of the line. By the time I was on the hayride, it was late and I was exhausted and just wanted to get everything else over with.
I was personally a little disappointed in the attractions themselves, but I think I might be very biased because of the wait, so I’ll add what I think are the pros and cons.
Pros:
— Great, creepy location
— Large area
— Good online discounts
— Many attractions
— Food trucks on site
— The props and decorations were elaborate and it’s easy to tell that there was a lot of time and care put into them.
Cons:
— Poor execution of special effects and lighting.
— There wasn’t a ton of effort put into the costumes. Most of them were regular clothes with some blood stains.
— Themes weren’t really making sense in the attraction.
— Way too many people to make the atmosphere scary
— The area was so large that it felt like there weren’t enough actors for each attraction
— The transitions between the haunted houses were a little awkward
— It was confusing to know where to go in the beginning.

It would get a 5 But, going thru the 3D house one of the actors walked behind us spraying water on our butts. A squirt would be ok but we where both soaked and its OCTOBER!!! not June. I thought it was a few different automatic things squirting us. When I realized it was the person it really pissed me off. Still love the place but have some respect for your customers. Nothing funny or scary about being sprayed with water…

What really makes this place great is the expansiveness of the attractions. Each one is elaborate, and feels top-​notch for a haunted place. From the many colossal animatronics on the hayride to the buildings themselves, there is pride put into the quality of this. This place absolutely transforms for Halloween. For $ 30 I don’t really see a reason to complain. On a Thursday night we got to do every attraction without waiting, which was a fun experience that let us meet every actor. Although this is the first time in years I wasn’t scared by a Halloween attraction, the quality here is relatively great.
Though it’s not the creepiest or otherwise scariest, I concur that they do have the best hayride in the tri-​state in terms of production values. Bates Motel is close behind, although theirs may be creepier.
The only downside is the paintball could be cheaper. For $ 25 my gun jammed with two minutes left and plenty of ammo: not enough time for the crew to fix it. I feel I wasted money on this so I’m deducting a star for that.
Overall, the main attractions themselves are a great value.

Lots to look at, not many scares.
Thankfully, we went on a Thursday and didn’t have very long of a wait for either the tickets or the hayride.
The hayride was very ‘theatrical’ with minimal actors. More animated props than anything. It was fun to look at, but sometimes you need more actors to help make a scare.
Once you get off the hayride, it was a filter into attractions one after the other. Some attractions had WAY too much fog, it was actually hard to breathe! There was no real spacing people out technique so after the hayride everyone just clumped into the attractions and it got fairly crowded. The attractions themselves were pretty neat. The Slaughterhouse was my favorite!
This would probably be suited for childen as well considering it wasn’t very scary but lots of great things and sets to look at! For $ 25 on a Thursday, you just can’t beat the price.

Get ready for lots of waiting! We went on a Friday night around 8:30, the line to get tickets was over an hour, then you wait another hour to get into an attraction. Also, there are hundreds of people there, which makes it hard to create a scary atmosphere. All the attractions were not that scary and a little rushed, plus you’re walking into the people in front of you. $ 30 is not bad for 6 attractions, and i’m sure some people would like it! There were a couple of jumpy things, but overall… go to eastern state penitentiary!

5 stars… best I’ve been to so far.
I was surprised by a recent review saying the attractions were cramped because I had a totally different experience. I went the last Friday before Halloween and even though there was a long line for tickets I barely had to wait at all once we got in.
I was actually annoyed with the people I was going with because a lot of them ended up being very late and didn’t even get tickets until just about 10pm when the ticket booths «closed» (but still anyone already in line could get them). I had a ticket a good hour before them and even that was later than I’d wanted to go, but in the end maybe their tardiness worked to our advantage. That’s the only reason I can think of for why we literally walked from the ticket booth directly onto the Hayride… no wait… at all.
It was a great Hayride. Terrifying? Maybe not, but when are they? It was just really cool. They did some things I’d never seen before, great sets, great animatronics, and just really creative.
A unique feature of these attractions is that many of them are right in a row. We got off the hayride, went into the Darkness one, right into the corn maze, and then right into the Tundra.
Both the Tundra and the Darkness were pretty short… like honestly if I said 15 (maybe 10?) minutes I’d be pushing it. But you get so much for such a reasonable price that it didn’t bother me. And because some of them are short the novelty of TONS OF FOG and Pitch Black doesn’t run out. They did some really creepy stuff with things brushing against you and what not to make the attractions really unnerving without getting repetitive.
The 3D Evil Fun House (freakiest of them all) and the Slaughter Cave had separate lines. Again we got into Slaughter Cave almost instantaneously and the Fun House was maybe a 7 minute wait at most.
Easily the coolest haunted attractions I’ve been to and by far the most unique.
Only downside is they’re lacking the whole bonfire social area thing. Like where you can get food at a few different stands, listen to music, sit by the fire. They have a building with some of that… but it’s really all about the attractions.

I’m going to keep this as brief as possible. This is actually several haunted attractions in one. The hayride is long and takes you through many «sets» each with their own theme. All are top notch. the hyrdraulic/​pyrotechnic/​mechanical monsters are all theme park quality. It is really a professional production. Many actors pop out and ride along with you. It’s seriously as good as any theme park… after the hayride there are several «buildings» to travel through. They all, again, have their own theme and sub themes… Some are very dark and even claustrophobic. I would say the 3d clown house was the craziest thing I’ve ever been in… a maze of twisted carnival themes rooms with zombie clowns around every corner…
Long story short… this is top tier and the best haunted attraction I’ve ever been to. Eastern State Terror Behind the Walls is good but this is great… I went the first week in November so the line was non-​existant. I suspect with lines it may not be as amazing… the staff is totally pro, police are on site, and bathrooms/​food are a plenty.
Overall, this type of thing makes me proud to be an American.

Way better than most of the other «local» attractions of this same type. I drove for an hour to get to this, and it was definitely worth it! They really have their «scare tactics» down, and do a great job. We went opening weekend so that it was only $ 20.00 online. Be sure you don’t go alone or just as a pair… you’re going to want the safety in numbers for this!!! Prepare yourself to spend at least 2 hours there, not including lines.

We heard great reviews on this place from a friend and decided to take a 90 minute ride to see for ourselves.
The High Points:
—The hayride was the BEST hay ride we have ever been on. It was the first attraction you go on and it was incredible. There was huge animatronics that we were all in awe over and TONS of actors. As soon as you thought there couldn’t be anymore actors – there were. I actually screamed a few times. They put a LOT of work into the hayride. The only odd part? A huge pirate ship of slutty pirates? Kinda out of nowhere for a haunted hayride! LOL
—The actors were ALWAYS in character. We didn’t see one dud actor the entire night. (and we encountered hundreds)
The Low Points:
—6 Attractions? I think not. The frozen tundra was this biggest joke we ever saw. It was basically the side of a shed. I don’t call that an attraction. Handymen were fixing things inside. It was just awful. So I would say – consider this a 5 attraction place.
—Every attraction was SO short. By the time you got in, got into it, it was already over. Most attractions were less than ten minutes.
—THE WORST PART ABOUT THE ENTIRE PLACE? They pack you into these attractions. They barely space you out and if they do, its only by a few seconds. Each attraction was basically ruined because after waiting 30 minutes in line, then you had to walk .0004 mph through the attraction bumping into people and it really ruined the whole experience for us. At times I felt claustraphic because we were so tightly scammed in the attractions. We couldn’t experience anything as a group at all. Ugh, makes me mad just thinking about it.

Solid series of Haunted Houses and Halloween type activity on a farm for families, was much more enjoyable than Bates Motel. VIP tickets is a must as long lines can get to be a hassle. I won’t give away any of the details, but the hayride was probably the best out of many of the haunted houses in the tri-​state are that we have sampled. More importantly everyone got a seat on a bale of hay and you didn’t have to sit cramped on the floor. Some of the 6 events felt rushed, but in general the haunted house is age appropriate for anyone 15 or under.
While I’m well above that age I still had fun. This is a must try if you like haunted houses and have been to them all. If you had only one haunted house to go to for the year, Corner of Chaos has the best theatrics for farm-​based haunts in the Philly, NJ, NY area and is the obvious choice. However Night of Terror wasn’t bad at all. Especially the House of Clowns and the Hayride which easily rivals Bates Motel.
Eastern State Penn is still the best show in town…
