Business Owner

European trend Chef J. Thomas born in Himalayan, country of Napal. First opened his restaurant in 1998 in the historical city of Kathmandu, called Kilroy’s of Kathmandu. The very next year opened another restaurant called K2 Beer and Steakhouse, at the same time opened Naked Chef Natarkot. These restaurants became very popular among tourists from around the world, and also highly recommended by the lonely planet guide book. Mt 8848 is definitely a hidden gem in South Gate. The food is delicious! My wife and I have eaten in restaurants all over LA for several years using our Entertainment Book and were pleasantly surprised! My wife had the Seared chicken breast and I had the Obama chicken. The chicken was extremely tender and prepared with a mixture of tasty spices. Service was great! We’re looking forward to our next visit.

First time at Mt8848 and it was okay. I guess i hyped it up more than what it delivered. The food was way to greasy and the Kobe burger was okay. It felt apart as soon as i took a bite. The bread the waitress gave us was really good though. The drinks were mediocre. The location has so much potential that is sad they are not utilizing it. It has an outside patio that can be used as a bar or something more inviting but its just there. First impression wasn’t that great but i will try it again.

I do not know why this place was so empty on a Sunday night, but it is awesome. It was my first time here so our group ordered a little bit of everything, and it was all great, from the chicken tacos to the peanut butter and jelly burger. They should advertise more in the area, one of the best tasting food places in the LA area.

Decided to have the steak sandwich, an order of fries, and garlic naan delivered to my house. The naan was mediocre, the fries were decent but not crunchy enough, and the steak sandwich was covered in dressing and had very bland, unseasoned steak. For $ 17 (including tip), this was a pretty unsatisfying meal. I don’t understand how this restaurant has 4 stars!

This place is definitely a hidden gem! The location is in a strip mall tucked between a SAMs Club and an insurance company and we found it by accident! It’s a great bargain, and they have some unusual items on the menu such as a PB&J Cheeseburger and PB&J tacos! I’m not that brave, but I did opt for the Fettuccine Alfredo and hubby had the Kobe Beef Bacon Cheeseburger and a few tacos. This place has a mixture of themes as far as the menu. It’s an upscale taco joint with a full bar and they also offer Indian, Italian, and American dishes. Service was also awesome! We will be coming back on future trips to California!

This place is AWESOME. The food is equivalent to high end down town L.A. (In my opinion even taster and MUCH bette priced)
There is not a place in South Gate or even the surrounding cities that can compete with this place — AT ALL. Highly recommend this place. Obama chicken is awesome, all the tacos and great, vegetables are alway fresh!

Great place in South Gate! A little difficult to find, but once found is a good place for food!
Came here on A Sunday night, not very busy so the servers were very attentive. They also had a good selection of music, and the place does give a classy vibe but their prices would make you think otherwise (great prices for the food you are given!)
I had the chicken Masala, and of course the complementary buttered bread which was delicious. The chicken Masala came with the usual rice and salad. The portion was good! I was satisfied by the end of the meal, and the taste of the dish itself was great! I got no complaints.
This will definitely be a regular spot for me! The food offered is a nice change from what is usually found in south gate and neighboring cities!

Placed a delivery order at work for the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and an order of fries. The service was excellent. My order was warm and lots of coworkers wanted to know what I ordered because the food smelled so good. The young lady who delivered my food was very sweet.
I look forward to ordering here again soon. Delicious food at a very reasonable price.
One tip, if you order the fries the order is enough for two.

This is my 3rd time here… And if you haven’t been here before, a Must Try! There are a lot of options, and some you wouldn’t except. If you haven’t tried fish & chips from across the Atlantic Ocean, then save yourself a trip and drive down to South Gate. lol… My recent selection included the Steak Sandwich ($ 5.00 lunch special) and Shrimp Taco. Both were Very Good!!! A lot of lunch special on the menu right now, but don’t sell yourself short on any other item on the menu. Both Waiters Robert & Christian were very helpful and gave fair opinions on the grub here. Greeted by far one of the most friendliest Chef/​Owners around! He’s just laid back kind of guys, who will talk to you like you’ve been friends for years, which is Awesome, Great Personality!

By far the best restaurant in South Gate!!! The first time I came here I fell in love and although it’s only been my 3rd time here It won’t be my last.
Today I ordered a glass of Merlot along with their Steam Chicken Dumplings and I can honestly say it’s a must try!!! The sauce that comes with the dumplings is out of these taste buds lol I ways order it. For my main dish I ordered their Home Made Pasta and home made Tomato Sauce yummmmm. I can’t wait to try everything on their menu I recommend this place to everyone I hate that people haven’t discovered this place they don’t know what they’re missing

For starters great spot! I would totally recommend it to anyone that crossed my path!
I’ve dined twice (this being my second time) and I have yet to be disappointed.
–they have a great variety of dishes pleasing everyone!
–service is great (server for the night was Stephanie !, she did a great job!)

–good for family, friends and even for a date!
–not loud or crazy so perfect for a conversation dinner!

I have no regrets of choosing this dish! I enjoyed every bite and stuffed my face with no regrets haha.

Came for brunch with the gals, and the service was great. Our server Esau was very kind and attentive.
Had the tuna sandwich with a side of fries, both were very good.
We also ordered mimosas which were $ 2 each. Can’t beat that!

This was some of the better Mediterranean cuisine I’ve had in a while.
The location is a little hidden and can easily be missed although it is on a main street. The night I visited, it was empty so service was fast and the server consistently checked to see if anything was needed. The food arrived and I was impressed both presentation and taste. The stuffed chicken I ordered was delicious and very feeling. Dessert was nice as well. As I stated, It was empty leaving the restaurant to be very quiet. The bar area looked cool but had no customers to fill it. Wish it would have been more live so I could determine whether or not this would be a place to come for drinks on a weekend.
Other than that, pretty good food and service.

My review is based on the buffet. I went here twice in the past month during lunch time. It was a pleasant surprise that they had Indian curry buffet menu.
Pros:
1) Very cheap at $ 8.99 for a lunch buffet. Cannot beat this price with Lamb Stew on the menu.
2) Taste was consistent both the times. There was no hit or miss on any of the items.
3) Employees were polite and accommodating.
4) Pork Stew and Lamb Stew were delicious.
Cons:
1) I showed up at 11 AM the first time. Apparently buffet starts at 11 AM onwards. However few items were not stocked until 11:20 AM. (–1)
2) The second time I showed up at 11:45 AM to ensure that I could try out all the menu items. However, they did not have Naan. I did eat curries with tortillas, but it was not the same somehow (–1)
3) Chairs are uncomfortable at the bar.
Since this is the closest desi joint to work, I will hit it up a few more times and hopefully some of the issues are corrected in future visits.
