I’m giving the Inn 4 stars because it’s dog friendly and fairly inexpensive. It’s true that the carpeting seemed worn, but overall the room was clean and comfortable – a good choice for an overnight stay while on a cross-country vacation with two not-easy-to-hide coonhounds. The fact that the Inn is right off the turnpike was a plus, as was the $ 59.99/night($ 67.19 after tax) rate that we were able to get using a walk-in coupon that we picked up at one of the service areas on the turnpike. All-in-all, we were happy with our choice.

Review written July, 2012 On a recent visit to South Bend, Indiana for a baseball tournament, our group stayed at the Jameson Inn. The Jameson Inn is an adequate facility with decent rooms, a modest continental breakfast, and friendly staff. The hallways were in need of new carpeting but the rooms were generally clean and in good repair. The rates were reasonable and the experience was not special or unspecial. I did have one issue with a malfunction of two air conditioners. One of the AC units set the smoke detector off at 4:23AM and I was forced to remove it from the wall. In the morning, I requested a full night’s stay for my inconvenience of moving rooms at 10:30PM because of a nonworking unit in one room and then the smoke detector summoning myself and my guests at 4AM. The manager was unwilling to offer this remedy but offered ½ a night off. I contacted corporate about the matter and the option the manager had given to not reinstall the smoke detector. Corporate offices were swift to respond and I received a phone call from the VP of operations out of Atlanta, Georgia about 4pm that day. He was apologetic and assured me the manager had been corrected on this possible safety violation and he also agreed my request for a full night stay was not unreasonable given our lengthy stay and the 12 other rooms currently using the facility. Overall, I would recommend Jameson if you are looking for an affordable option with nothing too special and decent, friendly staff. Moreover, it would appear the corporate officials provide caring and swift response when issues arise.

This was my second stay at this Jameson Inn the first being three years ago. At that visit, I was surprisingly impressed. So much so that I wrote the company to compliment them not just on the quality of the room, but on the quality of the young lady at the front desk. Well, that was then and this is now. This time, I was surprisingly disappointed. The carpeting in the room was pretty much disgusting. Otherwise, it wasn’t bad but the nasty carpeting pretty much ruined the entire stay. The linens weren’t that bad and the room was reasonably quiet. In the morning, I went to the lobby for a cup of coffee. The coffee was pretty decent but the breakfast — except for waffles — looked to be more or less non-existent. Thankfully, there is a Bob Evans right across the street. This was my last stay with Jameson. Enough said.

Decent rooms at a cheap price. Breakfast is crap but edible. Beds not the best but for $ 50 what do you expect?

As an ND alum, I have been back to campus several times and stayed at many places(Morris Inn, Holiday Inn downtown, Holiday Inn Express). I booked the Jameson on the recommendation of a friend. I was honestly disappointed. Very shabby rooms and hallways. An in-room fridge was a bonus but a clinging room fragrance that permeated our clothes and nostrils was not. The pros are friendly desk staff and proximity to campus. However, next time I would frequent one of the hotels I mention above– similar pricing but better maintained.
