Merit Academy offers one-​on-​one classes for grades K-​12. Students enjoy personalized instruction to meet their academic needs while taking rigorous classes that prepare them for success in college. With this unique classroom setup, Merit can set up classes around your busy schedule in the comfort of your own home. Students can enroll full time or they can take single courses.

Merit Academy is WASC accredited (9 – 12) and all high school classes are UC A-​G approved. Headquarters are in Santa Cruz; Merit serves students in Palo Alto, Cupertino, and nationwide. Merit Academy is a subsidiary of Merit Educational Consultants, LLC.

History

Established in 1994.

Merit Academy students have been accepted to and matriculated to prestigious colleges such as Stanford, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Claremont McKenna, and others. With one-​on-​one instruction, all students receive an excellent academic foundation that will prepare them for success in college and beyond.

Meet the Business Owner

Susan T.

Business Owner

Merit Academy’s director and founder is Susan Tatsui-D’Arcy, M.A. Since 1979, she has founded and directed Professional Tutoring Programs, R.E.C. Day Camp and Ski Club, the Enrichment Program, Merit Educational Consultants, and Merit Professional Organizers. She is a published author currently working on several books centered around education, time-​management, parenting, and college admissions. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Santa Clara University, and a California Teaching Credential. Her vivacious energy and vision make Merit Academy one of the top university-​preparatory schools in the country.
