Description

Specialties

I am an artist specializing in small, residential painting projects. I have over a decade of decorative painting experience, having worked with some of the best teams and interior designers in the San Francisco Bay Area. I also do graphic murals. I have been freelancing for twenty-seven years.

I love to paint homes and change the dynamic of a room with a subtle or vibrant color shift. I prefer using non-toxic, low VOC, water-based paints. I am a one-man team. I like to collaborate with you, the client, on color choices to give the best results.

I have recently enrolled at the Contractors State License Schools to obtain my California C-33 Specialty Contractor’s License for Painting. The process should take several months to complete. At this time I am insured through IDAL (International Decorative Artisans League). License # and bonding soon to come.

Please visit my website and read my ‘Information’ page to find more about my professional background. My blog describes all of my current, personal projects as well as some of my decorative painting and mural work.

I am looking for small, creative jobs in the Santa Cruz area.

Thanks for checking me out!

History

Established in 1988.

I graduated from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in 1988, the same year I began my career as a freelance artist. Interior painting is another step in that career.

I relocated to Soquel, just south of Santa Cruz, last year after 22 years in San Francisco. When we moved into our house there was tons of work to be done including painting every inch of the place. I had re-painted all of my previous apartments as a renter and was quite happy to do it now as a first-time home owner.

Having done high-end decorative painting for over a decade, I found this straight painting very familiar and that I really enjoyed it. I’d like to share this skill with clients who either don’t have the time or inclination to do it themselves. Or with those who simply would like to have an artist’s eyes on their home improvement project.

I see every job as a collaboration.

Business Owner

I’ve always considered myself an artist. Most of my work over the years has been very Pop Art influenced, but with traditional subject matter — portraits and landscapes. All of my work — from paintings to screen prints to digital illustrations — is composed of flat fields of solid color. I have found that I also have customized my own living spaces over the years — even as a renter. (I was always willing to re-paint everything back to a neutral white when I vacated the premises because it was worth it to me to live in rooms painted the colors I want to be surrounded by). Interior painting has come naturally to me and I love the process.
