Our hostess bought a Diestel turkey for Thanksgiving. There were 8 of us and all but 1 thought it was the worst tasting turkey we had ever had! Was VERY smoky tasting and was not supposed to be a smoked turkey. Total waste of money in our opinion

Wow I don’t know if these reviews are from friends and family, or if they are innocent consumers like the rest of us who have had the wool pulled over our eyes about this farce of a turkey producer. I believed they were humane as well, but they were recently busted for filthy and inhumane factory farm conditions at their REAL turkey farm in Jamestown CA3 ½ miles down the road from the Sonora location which is what you see on their brochure. The bulk of their turkeys are raised in Jamestown and both footage and photos were released of these conditions which Diestel denies of course. Look it up, it will change your opinion of them. How disappointing, I am ashamed and disgusted with both Whole Foods and also Diestel for the misrepresentation. Mary’s Air Chilled chickens and turkeys out of Fresno CA are WAY more humane and truly ARE free range. Switch to them, they are cheaper and taste better and HUMANE.

I bought their petite turkey from Bristol Farms for the holidays. Turkey had a very good flavor and a lot of meat on it for a smaller turkey. It cooked very quickly since it was small. Skin was crisp and tasty. I would recommend it for the holidays. I’m also very glad it was raised humanely with no antibiotics and natural grain. I will definitely buy one again.

There is no better turkey, processed or not. We even home grow ours and diestel is better. Magic?

Still great meat just not offering chicken guess that was seasonal or a trial. Bummer because It tasted like it came from a farm, not a factory like a lot of chicken and I want more. If you read this Diestel Family I would pay more per lb. because it was better flavor and quality than the organic chicken at safeway in Sonora! My rottweiler who had, and has, never again stolen steak, jowl bacon or anything else from my kitchen counter even when left out, broke out of his cage and ate the entire roasted chicken from my counter. When I roasted another bird I understood why, juicy with exquisite meat.

I ALWAYS get our holiday turkeys from Diestel! I usually opt for the smoked turkeys because they’re 1– super easy(just re-heat), and 2– SUPER delicious! Not to mention the gravy you can make from smoked turkey drippings… heaven! Also, the staff is always so friendly and accommodating! Last year the shipment of smoked turkeys was running late and we ended up having to wait around a while to get it, so they gave me a dozen eggs!

We have been buying Heidi’s Hens for years, and they are great. The last few years we have been purchasing the breast only, and this year I needed enough turkey for 15 people, so I decided to see what else was available. Reading Diestel’s website, I discovered they sell an Heirloom turkey and there was something about the way they presented it that made me want to try it. Man, am I glad I did. Their Heirloom turkey was hands down, the best turkey I have ever tasted. I could go on and on about the flavor, the texture, the flavor… But, I won’t. Just trust me. Next time you’re in the market for the best turkey you ever tasted, check out the Heirloom from Diestel.

We purchased a Diestel Fra’ Mani brined, seasoned turkey from Costco this year because recent rumor suggested that a brined turkey was the way to go. The guys in the family were in awe! They said it was the best turkey they had ever tasted and begged me to cook another one next year. Me? While it was good, it wasn’t «traditional» enough for me, being too salty and spicy, and the gravy didn’t taste like the usual rich turkey gravy I enjoy. Outside of that, the turkey was moist, tender, and looked magnificent. I will purchase this turkey again for the men in my life(I’m the only woman in the house right now), but next time I’m going to do a regular turkey breast just for me.

This Family owned Turkey farm is truely amazing! They’re bringing back farming as it should be. Everything is super clean and quiet, and they take real pride in the animal welfare and humane treatment of their birds. Such a beautiful ranch located in the sierra foothills. I should also mention, I purchased one of their turkeys for my Thanksgiving from Whole Foods market and it was the BEST tasting turkey I have ever eaten! I will from now buy a diestel turkey every Thanksgiving and whenever else I need one.

Was tired of the organic chicken route and wife found Heidi’s Hens Organic Turkey Burgers! 3100% ORGANIC turkey burgers… One ingredient! These are super lean and I really loved the 31 g of protein per burger. And they are really big! It was a wonderful find at Whole Foods — Kahala. I’ll be buying these again. Oh, and I’m GF so great on that account too. Mahalo!

Diestel made good on our complaint and we tried another turkey. We cooked it the same way, and it was better. We have a brand we prefer more, but give an excellent score for customer service.

We saw this family’s turkey listed from a respectable local butcher. We wanted a ‘fresh, natural bird’. We were very disappointed. We followed the cooking directions that were provided. The recommended time & temperature were nowhere close to what we ended up needing. We started Thanksgiving without the turkey! In the end the meat was tough and tasteless. And it was very pricy for the result. We thought we were doing the right thing this year. Guess we will have to go back to brands that assure us of quality…

We have always gotten our family Thanksgiving turkeys here since I was a little girl. It is a tradition I have continued today I love driving out to the ranch to pick up my order You can see the birds on site roaming the hills the kids love to feed them. The care and love the family runs this ranch is phenomenal. They have expanded their product line to include sliced turkey and Heidi’s healthy hens. I was fortunate enough to move near a Whole foods that carries their entire product line. I can still get the tastes of home without being there.

I managed to pull off the best turkey ever for Thanksgiving shared with friends. The turkey I cooked was hands down the juiciest most flavorful turkey I have ever tasted. I would like to take 100% of the credit but credit should be given where credit is due and that is with Diestel Family Turkey Ranch. I think their meat goes above and beyond high quality. I was nervous preparing a 22 lb bird for a bunch of hungry friends but it was seamless and delicious — almost all thanks to Diestel Family Turkey Ranch(I do take a little bit of credit and the actual bird should get some too).

Oh so good. My roommate did the turkey this year and I was so scared he was going to screw it up. But with a little helpful nagging and the quality turkey from Diestel, we had a turkey that could rival my aunt’s turkey. That’s right, my AUNT! Trust me, that’s impressive.
